Magic Remote AN-MR650 for UH635

Question

Posted

Hi All

This is pretty unbelievable.

In the adverts for my TV it kept going on about how good the Smart Remote was.

One of the reasons I bought the TV was for the Smart Remote. I was disappointed to find that it was not included in the box but thought, no problem, I will buy one from LG UK or Amazon UK.

WRONG.

This item is not available on the UK LG site. WTF.

No sign of it on Amazon UK either.

I emailed LG only to be ignored.

This is my first LG TV and possibly the last due to their rubbish customer support and lack of advertised accessories.

Has anyone managed to get a 2016 Smart Remote in the UK ?

Thanks.

It's interesting.

I just bought LG 43" UH668V for £699 which comes with the Magic Remote

The LG rep in the store was also showing me the same TV - but without the Magic Remote which retailed at £549

I'm wondering if you have simply bought the TV that doesn't support a Magic Remote?

I feel your pain. I bought a 2016 LG TV from the very.co.uk site, which in the title said "with Magic Remote" and in the description told you all about the magic remote functionality. I never got the remote, Very seem unable to comprehend the difference between the standard remote and the magic remote and looking around it seems you cannot buy this remote in the UK. However, I noticed on the lg site, one of the places you can buy from ships to the UK. Although if you decide to pay customs you will end up paying around £80.00 for it.

I also think this will be the last LG item i buy.

You couldn't make it up.

They push the Magic Remote in all their advertising for their TVs and yet you cannot actually buy one.

Here is the unbelievable email I received from LG.

Hi there Nigel

Thank you for your email.

In regards to this, unfortunately as it stands at the moment, the AN-MR650 is not available in the UK to purchase seperately.

We are still awaiting for a stockist to get these in, in order to be able to purchase them.

Unfortunately, I do not have any information on when these will be available.

I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Should you need any more assistance, you can reply to this email by clicking the additional questions link at the bottom of this email.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards

Ben

Add the option to turn off mouse acceleration. I think I would fins it much easier to aim the pointer if I could disable it. I always disable it on computers. You can just add it next to the pointer speed setting under General > System > Additional Settings > Pointer Options

Two other settings I think would make sense to have would be a setting to disable the shake-remote-to-show-pointer feature. Although I like it I can sometimes find it annoying, so why not let the users decide. I always hate it when there aren't settings for things like these.
The other setting would be to disable the pointer completely as many users have written that they want to disable it.

I really love lg tvs hence I now own 3 but what I can’t get past that drives me crazy is any remote turns all tvs on of change Chanel etc and when I’m watching something and the wife changes channel in kitchen tv and the lounge tv chance drives me crazy I’ve unpaired and repaired individually and it still has the same problem

Last week a LG service person visited our home. After resetting our new LG TV, he went to his van and returned with a large remote controller. We asked what it was for and he told us it was to access settings that the standard controllers could not do. But would not tell us what it did.
Do you know what it can do?

My 65UQ70 TV started to ignore my remote yesterday. After some experiments I've found that it only reacts to double clicks now. So I have to use double clicks for any action - move through menus, launch apps etc, single clicks are just ignored.
Resetting the TV to factory settings didn't help.
I tried to google the issue and found that this might be an issue with the remote, but I can't find how to reset the remote of my model. Combinations like Home+Back (for Magic Remote) or 2+8 (for some old style remotes) don't work for my model, neither removing batteries and pressing all buttons does.
My remote seems to be AKB76040302, a photo from the Internet is below.
So, how do I reset it?
      Some other things to mention:
      - The pulses of the remote are not visible through a cell phone camera, so I couldn't check if it only sends signals to the TV after double clicks, or the TV is enforcing this issue. UPDATE: a cellphone sees the pulses in darkness, and a pulse is sent on each press, not only on doubles. So it should be TV OS issue, not the remote issue.
      - This started to happen after I have updated the software and connected a sound bar with optical cable, though I believe the last action isn't related to the issue.

My magic remote and my Roku remote stopped working for turning off power so I performed a factory reset after troubleshooting to get the remote working.  I am now stuck at the 1st screen of the Factory Reset which says "Press the OK Button(wheel) on your remote."  Well... this really stinks because the remote doesn't work!!!  I have tried a USB mouse, a new magic remote, other LG Remotes with no luck.  I have also tried using the button on the bottom of the tv.  And, I contacted support which was just an exercise in redoing everything I had already tried... No Luck!!
This is a Nano Cell 55NANO81ANA which is basically just a big brick now since I cannot even use any of the inputs.  Does anyone have a trick for getting past this initial screen???
      Thanks for the help.
