Plex App on LG WebOS requires internet connection for Local media access

The LG WebOS Plex App will not start without internet access even though the App is used to access local Media from a Plex Sever on the local network.  Samsung, Roku, AppleTV Plex Apps ALL work on the local network playing local Media even if internet access is not available.  This is a dealbreaker. I will NOT purchase anymore LG TV’s unless this issue is corrected.    The app simply states that “Internet is Not Accessible” and will not continue to load.  I don’t care if the internet is not available.  My local network IS available and is all that is needed.

I understand the various settings needed to watch my local media without internet access.  I have those configured properly and I am currently able to do this using an appleTV, Roku TV, or android tv box.  The problem is specific to the client App ON my LG TV.  The client App itself is for some reason coded to not work in spite of the Plex Media Server being configured to allow local media access.

Yes Plex likes you to sign in to your plex acount when you start up to establish whether you are a lifetime member or not. Also Plex now has online streaming content available for those who don't have there own media. Having signed in you can then use your local media and no further internet should be used.

I use my plex when I travel with my laptop and a usb disk with my movies on it.  All I do is use the WiFi hotspot on my phone to connect with Plex and my media also steams through that connection to the TV which is also connected to the WiFi hotspot from my phone.

I found this using Gemini :-

Plex Client Internet Requirement

Plex client does not strictly require an internet connection to access media stored on a local network, but certain functionalities may depend on it. For instance, initial setup and authentication typically require an internet connection. However, once configured, you can access your media without an internet connection by specifying IP addresses that don't require authentication.

To use Plex without an internet connection, you can configure your Plex Media Server to allow access from specific IP addresses or ranges on your local network. This allows devices on your network to access the server without needing to authenticate through the internet. Additionally, enabling the DLNA server in Plex can provide a fallback option for streaming media without an internet connection.

It's important to note that some features, such as adding new library content or retrieving metadata, may require an active internet connection. However, once these are set up, you can enjoy your media offline. If you're already offline, you might need to manually edit configuration files to achieve the same result.

This is NOT a solution.  As I said the LG client IS NOT working without internet EVEN THOUGH I HAVE PLEX MEDIA SERVER CONFIGURED CORRECTLY.  This is an issue specific to the LG Plex Client app.  No other client apps have this issue.

I have a LG 65QNED92AUA tv that has issues with the Bluetooth connection dropping off when connected to my earbuds. I believe the issue to be software related. LG has sent 2 technicians out to repair and the first technician changed the main board and Bluetooth transmitter which did not resolve the issue.
There are similar issues with Bluetooth Connection from others.
Since hardware replacement didn’t help and this is a known software-pattern issue, I would like push LG to specifically address it at the firmware/webOS level. I am unable to escalate to their software team and check if there’s a known patch or beta firmware for the QNED92 line.
For some reason this line of questioning is not available with in LG customer service.
       Please help!
