Google Maps Pin MarkerAt webOS Nation we are big fans of the homebrew

app by Jan Herman (72ka). It brings many needed features that were absent from the official old-and-defunct Google Maps or the new Bing Maps in an easy to use interface that is still getting regular updates. One of those nice features is the ability to drop a marker pin on any spot on the map and easily recall that address in the future to center the map or get directions to/from that location.

There are actually two ways to drop a marker pin. If you perform a search for a specific location by tapping on the "Google Maps" header bar and then typing in a search, the map will center to that location and drop a pin for easy reference. The other way to drop a pin is by simply tap-and-holding anywhere on the map. That marker pin will contain the latitude and longitude of that location, along with an approximate address for that location. In either situation, you can tap on the pop-up bubble for that marker and select "Info" to bring up a detail screen for that marker and then tap-and-hold on the header bar to rename this location if you want something more descriptive.

Back on the main map screen, these markers provide functionality beyond just a visual pin on the map. If you tap on the Google Maps popup icon on the bottom of the screen, you can choose "Markers" to bring up a list of your current markers that you can tap on to jump to that map location, or on the Google Maps i icon to bring up the same detailed screen mentioned above. Or instead of tapping the "Markers" option above, when you tap on "Directions" you can access your pin markers for either the origin or destination by tapping the Google Maps dropdown arrow on the right side of the screen to bring up your marker listing.

It is important to note that these marker pins will be wiped away whenever you close the Google Maps app. If you would like any of your marker pins to survive a app restart, you need to mark those as "favorite" locations. In order to do this, access the Marker Pin detail screen (using either method mentioned above) and then tap the Google Maps Favorite button button on the bottom-left of the screen. You will notice that the marker pin on the map now shows a star on the top of the pin to indicate that it's a "favorite" place, but more important, these favorites will stick around the next time you launch the app.

is available in the webOS Nation homebrew feed in Preware and is compatible with all webOS devices running webOS 1.4.5 or higher

      Hi,

I'm not sure its the right place but at any case i will describe my issue here and maybe you will be able to help:
Recently I bought a a TV and a sound bar, and i have some issue from the moment i get the TV.
TV model - LG 55LB679Y with latest firmware version i have at my country (Israel) - 04.30.16
      SoundBar - LG NB4540
the TV connected to sound bar by "wireless simplink" feature 'LG TV' and TV connected to My Wireless router.
every 5 - 15 minutes, i have sound drops / Cutoff / stooped / Interruption, seem like the TV loose connection to sound-bar for few seconds or something similar, it's happen from any AV source im using HDMI, USB...
and the local re-seller replace the sound-bar to a new one (same modal off course) and i didn't help.
i have try to troubleshot the problem in the last few weeks - but didn't succeed to solve it, and also the support / costumer service didn't have solution for this.

some steps i take when troubleshot this issue:
      * different wireless configuration on router -  different channels, SSID, Security - issue still persist.
      * another wireless router - issue still persist.
      * working with optical cable to sound bar - just for testing - working ok, but i need the wireless feature working this the reason i bought sound bar and TV from the same manufacturer.
      * disconnect the TV from wireless network - looks like it's working ok, but didn't had chance to test it for long time.

from my point of view looks like it's issue with wireless device on TV not able to to work in parallel with soundbar and wireless network for some reason, It could be caused bysoftware issue on WebOS or Hardware issue with this TV model.

I really hope you be able to help me or throw some light on this case.

      Kind regards,
      Matan

As the world welcomes in the new year, LG is busy ushering in a new era in TV with the announcement of its new vision statement, “Sync to You, Open to All.” The company’s vision for the present and future of screen is all about syncing the user experience to each user’s individual tastes and lifestyle. It’s a vision that sees the screen as a seamless extension of people’s everyday life; a place where one can go to be entertained, to connect, to pursue their passions and so much more.

“Sync to You, Open to All,” although new, is a continuance of LG’s long-term commitment to changing the role of TV. The company aims to realize its vision by reflecting customer opinion throughout the entire user experience journey, factoring feedback into every single facet – from product and service development to User Interface (UI) features, design and, of course, the viewing experience.
In LG’s reimagining of what television is, the living room TV is now considered a lifestyle hub – one centered on the delivery of a personalized, customizable experience that lets users do and be more.

“Sync to You” relates to the delivery of a user experience that takes personalization to the next level. In terms of hardware, this means the introduction of new and diverse screen products intended for different audiences. These will include screens leveraging Zero Connect technology, to provide spatial and interior design freedom, flexible screens that users can ‘bend’ to their needs and screens that eschew conventional design.

As far as software is concerned, “Sync to You” focuses on providing unique experiences optimized for each user, thanks to webOS, LG’s open and constantly evolving smart TV platform. This encompasses the ability to customize a broad range of functions and settings to one’s preferences, starting with UI configuration, content recommendations and picture quality. But it also extends to the provision of an expanded customer experience, thanks to a wide range of interactive services from categories as diverse as cloud gaming, the metaverse, remote learning, home security, home fitness or health.
A variety of virtual worlds can also be accessed, from

The app on LG TVs offer access to over 180 classes taught by the world’s best instructors and thanks to a new partnership with , LG TV owners can benefit from integrated services developed exclusively for webOS.
LG TVs also offer a variety of fitness services from , world’s largest fitness group and , to, which allows to connect a fitness machine to the TV and Exercite, a motion sensor solution that recognizes your body’s posture.
The second part of LG’s vision statement, “Open to All,” is about collaboration, inclusivity and sustainability. Through open collaboration, LG TV users will be able to connect to different platforms and devices across an ever-growing ecosystem. Communication and control will be especially smooth thanks to support for Matter, the latest open connectivity standard for smart home solutions.
LG TV is also designed to be accessible to all users, regardless of their age or abilities. In consultation with its accessibility advisory group, whose members include people living with various disabilities, LG is continuously developing and rolling out inclusive technologies and features. Among those currently offered on LG TV are audio-to-text captions and a sign language screen that can be easily moved and resized whenever the user desires. There are also services available on LG TV that have been created specifically with elderly users and children in mind.
Sustainability is another integral element of LG TV and of LG’s vision. All LG TV products are shipped in boxes that feature one-color printing and have been made from biodegradable materials. The TVs themselves contain parts fabricated from recycled plastics. LG’s OLED TVs deserve special mention when it comes to sustainability, using a smaller number of components and offering greater recyclability than their LCD counterparts. Furthermore, since they do not require a backlight having fewer parts overall, there is less to recycle and dispose of.

Guided by its new vision statement “Sync to You, Open to All,” and a firmly held belief that “Life’s Good,” LG is and will continue to provide LG TV users with differentiated lifestyle experiences and exceptional customer value.

This London Craft Week, visitors to The Conran Shop’s Chelsea and Marylebone locations will be greeted by a feast for the eyes, or perhaps, more accurately, a ‘Forest of Eyes.’ Delivering vivid colors and infinite contrast via millions of self-lit pixels, LG OLED evo TVs will play an important role in stunning, new art installations created by London-based multidisciplinary artist, Yinka Ilori, for leading lifestyle retailer, the Conran Shop.*

Yinka Ilori’s distinctive work will shine out from the stores’ large display windows, communicating hope and optimism through the artist’s bold, joyful palette and signature use of pattern. Introducing his ‘Forest of Eyes’ theme, the installations will comprise a series of eye-shaped boxes, made from timber and alive with color, resembling blossoming rainbow-hued flowers.
Within each box will be a series of smaller eye-shaped forms, a mirrored floor, and an LG OLED evo TV that blurs the line between real and digital with its immaculate picture quality. The vibrant, accurate colors and deep, inky blacks of LG’s self-lit TVs will accurately reproduce Ilori’s colorific creations on screen, preserving his artistic intentions while seamlessly blending with the installations’ physical elements to help capture the attention – and imagination – of passersby.

LG OLED evo TVs leverage LG’s most-evolved OLED display tech to create mesmerizing viewing experiences. LG OLED evo technology is the exclusive combination of the company’s cutting-edge picture algorithms and the α9 Gen5 AI Processor. Applied to LG’s 2022 G2 series (LG OLED evo Gallery Edition) and C2 series models, OLED evo elevates the ability of the TVs’ self-lit pixels to deliver superior clarity, detail, contrast and color, for images that practically jump off the screen.
