  7. Nvidia’s GeForce Now app for LG TVs has exited beta, the graphics card manufacturer announced today. The cloud gaming service was released in beta last November for select LG televisions and lets you stream games off Nvidia’s servers bought on stores like Steam and the Epic Games Store. If you’ve got a compatible 2021 LG TV, you can download the GeForce Now app from the LG Content Store. To celebrate the launch, Nvidia is offering six months of GeForce Now’s Priority tier free with qualifying LG TV purchases between February 1st and March 27th. Although it’s previously been possible to access Nvidia’s streaming service on the Nvidia Shield, being able to access the service directly from a TV itself is a much more streamlined solution. Naturally, it’s also the cheaper option if you’re someone who doesn’t already own Nvidia’s set-top box and don’t fancy plugging another GeForce Now-compatible device into your TV. Alongside the official launch of the LG TV app, Nvidia also says it’s rolling out new resolution upscaling options to GeForce Now. These are designed to make up the difference when your streaming resolution (determined by your network’s bandwidth) is less than your display resolution. There are now three upscaling modes: “standard,” which is on by default, “enhanced,” which offers better quality at the risk of adding latency, and “AI-enhanced,” which offers the best upscaling quality but is only available on the Nvidia Shield or PCs with select Nvidia GPUs. As well as upscaling, the feature can also downscale content when your display resolution is lower than your streaming resolution. Nvidia also has a handful of new games coming to its streaming service this week: Mortal Online 2, Daemon X Machina, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, Tropico 6, and Assassin’s Creed III Deluxe Edition. 8. In government offices, a projector’s ability to display information clearly in large team settings makes it an effective tool for boosting collaboration while promoting safe social distancing. In hybrid work environments, this technology can make the difference between effective and ineffective collaboration by providing an easy-to-see snapshot of data, no matter where the viewer sits. The LG ProBeam is a powerful, user-friendly projector, generating some of the most accurate images I’ve seen in years. The LG ProBeam Delivers Crisp Images Measuring 14.6x12.8x6.1 inches and weighing about 21 pounds, this 4K laser projector is surprisingly compact, powered by a 5000-lumen lamp that makes it ideal for agency environments, especially compared with other projectors capable of producing images as large as 120 inches. A consumer-grade device, the LG ProBeam delivers professional-level projection capable of rendering 3840x2160 4K ultrahigh-definition images. It can project 8.3 million pixels at a native aspect ratio of 16:9, which makes the ProBeam an incredibly sharp projector with color accuracy on par with agency needs. I mounted the ProBeam in large, medium and small rooms while measuring the lumens emitted at various distances and image sizes. At each stage, the projector’s light was powerful enough that images were visible up to 30 feet away. Images were rendered accurately, with fine details that would be useful for educational initiatives and with the realism needed for detailed maps and military logistical information. View Content Easily with the LG ProBeam It was easy to set up and share from the LG ProBeam, thanks to wireless screen mirroring designed for streaming output from mobile devices, which eliminates the need for an extra physical connection. WebOS 4.5, the standard in LG smart TV platforms since 2013, also provides native web browsing capabilities. As presenters who frequently use projectors know, onboard speakers are often so flawed that they are arguably unusable. The LG has two integrated 5-watt speakers and Bluetooth capability that boosts wireless audio signals to a separate stereo system for improved sound quality. Agencies can enhance their collaboration capabilities with the LG ProBeam, a versatile and compact 5000-lumen laser projector that provides a high-resolution 4K display viewable in nearly any lighting. Performance Meets Convenience in the LG ProBeam Aside from its great image quality, perhaps the best characteristic of the LG ProBeam is the array of added features that make it by far the brightest object in a conference room. Starting with a 12-point keystone picture adjustment, the ProBeam empowers audiovisual engineers to tailor every display to the demands of the room and the agency. Further, keystone operations are easy and intuitive to perform on both the physical unit and the remote control. The detailed keystone adjustment, coupled with the extreme brightness capability of the device, lets agency users project a minimum screen size of 40 inches and a maximum of 300 inches (about 25 feet). With a 1.6X zoom feature, engineers can easily show presenters how to immediately project a 60 percent larger image without moving or readjusting the projector. That means users can take a 100-inch projection and switch it to a 160-inch display in seconds, if needed. Adding to the ease of operation is the simple-to-use wireless connectivity for screen mirroring, which makes for quick work by engineers during a live event. Wireless connection is possible with any Android device; USB or HDMI ports are available for wired connections. Laser projection technology also helps users manage long-term costs by minimizing bulb outages that interrupt operations and require expensive replacements. The LG ProBeam can provide 20,000 hours of lamp life, with far less dimming evident over the life of the projector compared with bulb-based models. It also makes projections bright enough for well-lit rooms or meeting areas without closing the curtains or turning off lights. Integrated Bluetooth audio capability solves a long-standing issue that audiovisual engineers often grapple with: a receiver that drives good sound quality. Because the ProBeam not only provides good native sound but can also send a signal to an in-room speaker system, it’s ideal for use in dedicated conference rooms and small huddle spaces. Having a projector that is functional in almost any lighting condition and that does not require any special training — even to access advanced features — is one of the main reasons why the LG ProBeam is great for government. Government employees can concentrate on their presentations and not worry about the gear they are using to share their information. 10. You’re here to find out how to watch Super Bowl 2022 on your LG TV — and we’ll get to that. But first, imagine Dad’s secret chili hitting the stove yet again. Family files into your home from far and wide. Flags adorn the flag holders of all the homes on your neighborhood street — a bevy of competing colors and boisterous avatars to match. It’s not Christmastime, it’s not Easter, and it’s definitely not the Fourth of July, which only leaves one major holiday that isn’t actually a holiday but may as well be. It’s time, yet again, for the Super Bowl, an American tradition that hearkens back to the days of TVs being as big as washing machines with screens not much larger than our iPhones. While we, of course, have loads of suggestions for the best TVs to watch the Super Bowl on, if you’ve already had your sights set on a new LG TV or already own a big-screen LG smart set, there are more ways than one to experience the Bowl with your Life’s Good TV. Let’s dive a little deeper into how to watch Super Bowl 2022 on an LG TV. This year, Super Bowl 2022 is being broadcast live from the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on February 13, 2022, with the kickoff expected at 6:30 p.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. PT. Originally, the 2022 broadcast rights were supposed to go to CBS, but due to pandemic turnarounds, a landmark negotiation between CBS and NBC gave coverage of the annual event to NBC. So what exactly does that mean in terms of actually watching the Super Bowl with an LG TV? We’ve got that covered below. How to stream Super Bowl 2022 with an LG TV A cable box or TV antenna (more on these later) hooked up to our TVs was and still is one of the main ways to catch the Super Bowl — regardless of what major network is handling coverage. Today, though, more and more households have cut the cord, with a number of residences only paying for Internet access and ditching paid cable altogether. With NBC handling the coverage to this year’s Super Bowl (available on cable, satellite, and over-the-air broadcast), if you’re a cord-cutting household, this means you’ll need to be using a streaming service that gives you access to whatever NBC affiliate is broadcasting in your area. Not a problem, though, as there are several routes you can take to tap into NBC viewing. For starters, you could try your hand at FuboTV. An official supporter of ESPN, the NFL Network, and NBC, FuboTV launched as a dedicated soccer streamer but quickly grew to include other sports programming and non-sports content. LG TVs have been supporting FuboTV since 2018. With prices starting at $65/month, FuboTV’s starter package gets you access to over 111 sports channels and 250 hours of DVR storage. If you’re interested in expanding DVR storage or want to access your FuboTV subscription on other TVs in your home, you can upgrade to the Pro tier ($70/month) or the Elite package ($80/month). YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream are two alternative options for LG TV streaming. Both platforms have access to NBC affiliates, along with a bevy of other TV channels, recording packages, and enough ancillary frills to make the purchase price worth it. If you want to keep your streaming a bit more traditional, there’s the Hulu way. With a Hulu + Live TV subscription ($70/month), you’ll be able to stream the Super Bowl as it is simultaneously broadcast on NBC affiliate stations. Better yet, your Live TV membership gets you access to ESPN+, Disney+, and Hulu’s entire library of movies and TV shows. How to watch Super Bowl 2022 on an LG TV for free “If it’s free, it’s for me” is an often-said adage that comes with some fine-printed details we may not consider. In the case of catching Super Bowl 2022 on your LG TV, yes, technically, you can pick up the broadcast without paying for cable or a streaming provider. However, what you will require is an over-the-air (OTA) antenna. An OTA antenna connects directly to the coaxial input on your LG TV. After performing a channel scan, your TV (when tuned to the TV/Coaxial/Antenna input) will be able to access a number of live broadcasts from network affiliates in your area. 12. SEOUL, Oct. 29, 2021 — Starting this week, LG begins rolling out a feature update which will enable all LG 2020 and 2021 4K and 8K UHD Smart TV customers around the world to automatically be able to view movies and series on Prime Video in Filmmaker ModeTM, allowing them a viewing experience the way the content creators intended it. Filmmaker Mode was created by the UHD Alliance, comprised of the world’s leading consumer electronics manufacturers, film and television studios, content distributors and technology companies, seeking to ensure the best UHD viewing experiences. First unveiled in 2019 and featured in LG TVs in 2020, Filmmaker Mode was designed to preserve the visual intent of the content creator, bringing the home viewing experience as close as possible to that of an actual theatrical release. LG and Amazon now take that vision a step further with Prime Video content embedded with a signal that automatically triggers Filmmaker Mode on 4K and 8K UHD LG TV models running webOS 5.0 and webOS 6.0.1 This ability for compatible TVs to detect and adjust settings to Filmmaker Mode without the need for the viewer to change the setting manually is an industry first and paves the way for future TVs to better support streaming services without imposing additional steps on viewers.2 While picture processing features such as motion smoothing and image sharpening are ideal for most forms of content including sports and TV shows, they can sometimes make feature films look a little too smooth and overly processed. Filmmaker Mode automatically turns off any picture processing settings that can make movies feel somewhat unnatural and cause them to display differently to how their directors would want while also maintaining the film’s original aspect ratio, colors and frame rate for a more authentic experience. Combined with the deepest blacks, enhanced contrast and vibrant colors of LG’s advanced TVs, viewers will get to experience unparalleled depth and realism through Prime Video’s vast selection of movies and series, including Amazon Originals such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Boys, The Tomorrow War and the highly anticipated upcoming series The Wheel of Time premiering November 19. One-click access to the Prime Video app is provided by the hot key on LG’s Magic Remote.3 In addition to stellar picture quality, LG’s UHD TVs including its stunning OLED TVs lineup, boast a range of features that further enhance the cinematic viewing experience. Dolby Vision™ IQ intelligently adjusts picture settings based on content genre and ambient light conditions, resulting in optimal image quality for every film and every environment. For superior sound, Dolby Atmos® enables detailed spatial surround that helps sweep viewers up in whatever they’re watching.
  13. Discovery+, the company’s subscription streaming service, is filling in some holes in its distribution lineup through a new agreement with LG. The app is now available on LG smart TVs in the U.S. including the company’s lineup of OLED TVs and QNED MiniLED TVs dating back to 2018 models. Users can now access discovery+ on LG’s webOS platform by saying "discovery plus" into their LG Magic Remote. Discovery+, which sells for $4.99 per month or $6.99 per month with no ads, is also available on Android and iOS devices, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung and Xbox. "We are thrilled to expand the availability of discovery+ and provide LG customers a direct and easy way to stream our much-loved brands, series and talent," said Gabriel Sauerhoff, senior vice president of digital distribution and commercial partnerships for Discovery, Inc., in a statement. "The announcement of discovery+ on LG Smart TVs builds upon our existing relationship with a valued partner, and we look forward to the continued growth of discovery+ and reaching more fans around the world." The launch on LG TVs comes just one day after Discovery announced that Discovery+ will be available in Canada beginning October 18. The service will be priced at Can$4.99 per month, with an ad-free version available for Can$6.99 per month, and each account will include up to five user profiles and four concurrent streams. Discovery Inc. is currently in the process of merging with WarnerMedia, which will be spun off from AT&T. In August, Discovery CEO David Zaslav said he was recently in Washington, D.C. and didn’t pick up on any potential headwinds for the deal that will bring together HBO Max and Discovery+ under one banner. “There’s broad support for this transaction. We haven’t heard any pushback, we haven’t seen any public pushback,” he said. “Right now, it feels for us on every level like we’re seeing green lights. We’re not seeing any yellow or red lights.” Discovery and AT&T expect the deal to close by mid-2022. 15. Apple has been rolling out the Apple TV app to many different platforms, including smart TVs, games consoles, and third-party streaming devices like the Amazon Fire Stick or Roku streaming sticks. In a slight twist, the company is also launching a ‘Apple TV+’ app for older LG webOS TVs. Update: The TV+ app is also now available on older Samsung smart TV models. The launch was first spotted by FlatpanelsHD, and later confirmed by an LG support document. The standard Apple TV app is available on 2018 and newer LG webOS TVs. This special Apple TV+ app is targeted at 2016 and 2017 models. Although the name and logo is different, the actual app experience appears identical to the TV app — except that you can only watch TV+ content. The Watch Now and other iTunes Store tabs are simply missing. Somewhat comically, that means this app has just three tabs in the top navigation — Apple TV+, Search and Settings. It also means that the Up Next functionality previously found in the Watch Now tab is now awkwardly located as an inline row at the top of the tv+ page. It is true that many proponents of Apple TV+ — including me — have wanted less focus on the iTunes Store in the TV app in order to focus on the content available to us with the subscription, but this particular stripped-down incarnation is not quite what we had in mind.
