    Something in the line:

We do acknowledge this feature is important to so many of our customers....
Our developers team is working on these other features.....
We are going to establish a mechanism giving the users to vote for the features they want...
You can see the timeline for next deliveries....
It is not so easy to introduce what you ask because....
We apologize, we informed the product management about this problem but they do not care....

After all the moderators represent the company in the forum.

I was not aware that any of the moderators have anything to do with LG, I believed that the forum was run by webOS users for the benefit of other webOS users.   The reason I thought this was because of the legend at the top of every page that says "User to User Support Forum".

    Hi,

I have a USB drive that I created on my laptop and has picture and video. When I plugged it in TV (50UH5500), It doesn't recognize the drive.

I have to format the drive on TV to recognize it. It will not work if I bring in any USB drive from compute to use it in TV USB port.

Any help on how to fix it.

    Thanks,

This is the last time I buy an LG TV.

A high-end TV that costs more than 1000 euros does not provide the minimal features that my 80 euros set-top-box provides.

What is most annoying, is the attitude of the moderators of this forum that do not even answer to such a hot thread.

What exactly do you expect the forum moderators to say?

I'm a newbie here. just purchased my first Smart tv and using the Amazon Prime Free Trial.

I've heard there are issues with the LG's and Amazon regarding bandwidth and that there is currently no fix.

Firmware and apps are updated. I also tried playing  Amazon on the Browser app and also had streaming issues.

So far no issues with the Netflix app and no issues with the Browser app doing other things, YouTube seems fine.

For me it's a hit or miss, some shows play, others do not, some kick in after while, others don't until maybe even hours.

Wondering if anyone has more info? Right now I don't think I will purchase Amazon Prime till I know more.

    TIA

I have been using the Amazon Prime Video app since I purchased my TV in late 2016 without issue.

I signed up to this forum just so I could add another voice for this feature. It is so needed and the lack of response from someone official at LG is verging on the ridiculous...

On my C7V (software version 03.60.09) I have a total of four images: three of buildings in Europe and one of a tropical island. When you're competing with the likes of Chromecast to use your platform, you have to at least match their standard or best them. As a former programmer, this is a really easy feature to implement, whether to pull images from an online database or to source locally with a user's custom images. I really don't understand why it can't be done cheaply.

I like LG products but in all honesty I'm losing my faith in the company's ability to create a loyal community.

It should be remember that this is a user to user forum and there is not official indication that anyone from LG actually reads what gets posted here.  Listed elsewhere on the forum is a link to an official LG contact page where you can make suggestion etc.

Just bought the LG smart tv 2017. When I power on the tv each time it comes up with the sound on and static looking screen until I press the home button to do a search for example Hulu.

How do I make it so when I turn on the tv the screen just shows a silent wallpaper picture?

I went up the picture settings but there is no picture to choose from, it’s just the settings options. Where do I get a picture from to put it on the tv?

I haven’t set up the Live Tv either because I don’t have cable or anything. Is this static looking screen part of that? If so, what is the live tv? (I understand with my Roku I could watch live tv off of that when I downloaded an app such as CNN live) Is it only for people that have a cable company and want to set it up that way? If so, how do I get rid of this?

Thank you for your knowledge and help.

    V

From memory this issue has been covered before on the forum, basically the TV will always default to live TV and currently there is no option to have it open a default app.  The viewpoint is probably that the device is first and foremost a TV.

The best thing is to registered your interest in having the TV open up to an app via LG's suggestions form which is linked elsewhere on the forum.

Plex knows, for many movies, what kind of movie it is. It also has the ability to filter you movies on for example Year, Genre, Rating, Director, Actor, Country, Studio.

If you filter on Genre you can select (in my case) on Actie, Action, Adventure, Animatie, Animation, Avonturen, Avontuur (that was only the A :-).

So Plex collects al kind of information on the Movies which you can use to filter them. Or you can add information manually. On the Plex app on the LG TV I can not search by directory.

I can do that on my computer (in the Plex program). There I have the option to browse by folder. If I really want to search for something I find it easier on the computer. Then, after I started the Plex program on my TV, I can start playing the movie on my TV from my computer.

When you edit a film's details under tags you can add it to/create 'Collections' which would help narrow things down.  You can also create additional libraries to further sub-divide things.  There also is the ability to queue items to watch which might be what you are looking for.

But going to the computer, finding the item you want to watch, queueing it up and then going to the TV seems a little time consuming when you can just search in the Plex app on the TV itself.

I have my movies in many folders, some examples: Swedish, English, Pirates, Vikings, Comedy, b actor etc.  Some of my TV shows are running series, but I have also documentaries by subject (e.g. Submarines, Ships, Planes, cars etc). So that's why I want to navigate by folder.

    OK.

While not a quick fix Plex does give you the ability to create groups, add tag etc which would achieve the same end result and have them searchable.

My next try  was to use Plex. It shows each films icon beautifully and some info from the internet (nice to have, but I don't really need). But it doesn't show the folder icons, in fact it doesn't show folders at all, everything seems to be lumped into one big pile. I tried various profiles in the Synology DSM Media Server for the TVs.

Plex user here, works great for me although I am unsure what you mean by it lumping everything into one big pile.

My media is sorted in to three groups, TV, films and music.  TV and music are folderised (yes it is a word!), while the films are in indeed in one folder with no sub-division.  Not understanding why you need to see folder icons as the Plex interface neatly sorts these three areas of media.

Anyone have a problem with this app running on LG 4K TV?

iPlayer app constantly buffers or locks up

I switch to NOW TV box (not app) & can watch  iPlayer without an issue.

Also NETFLIX & other catch up apps  work without any buffering or locking.

    Interested to hear your thoughts....

Not that I use BBC iPlayer a huge amount, but on the occasions I have, I have not had an issue with buffering, lock ups or the app crashing.

    My TV = UH650V - webOS FW V. 04.30.40

Just got off the phone to lg support. I was told the web browser shuts down when attempting to stream video ON PURPOSE! Furthermore, once you stream anything from the internet, the cache fills up, does not clear, and prevents the installed apps from functioning properly.  I was told that the OS is a web browser NOT a web streaming service and if they allow customers access to stream video they will be in breach of their contractual agreement to the companies who have apps on the TV. This clearly doesn't happen on tablets or phones, so their logic for creating a sub par product is utter bollocks. I specifically asked the salesman if I could stream video from the internet and was told absolutely yes. When I pointed this out to Lg customer service they re-iterated that a web browser does not confer the ability to stream video. This is misleading the customer, and effectively censoring and filtering internet content.  This must stop!

    "This must stop!"

Well it will not, especially if LG customer support is correct in their rhetoric about contractual obligations to app providers.  In the same way many UK residents would like to see the HBO app in our store, it is not going to happen because of contractual obligations between HBO & SKY.

As for a sales person telling you that streaming in the browser would work, well forgive me for being cynical but they want you to purchase the product and do not know every little nuance of every product.
