'like' button on YouTube app

Has anyone else had the same problem as me regarding the 'like' button on the YouTube app on my Oled77g7v? There is a thumbs up button and a thumbs down button for each video. These icons are supposed to be just an outline unless you click on them and then they fill in to show you have selected them. However, this no longer works on my TV. It is as if you never clicked. In fact, the 'like' icon is always pre_filled, no matter what I do. This used to work properly and it still works correctly on a Sony TV I have. Any ideas would be very welcome!

Finally, finally, this has started working on my OLED77G7V tv. Just noticed it tonight (Tuesday). Maybe LG felt that we all needed an early Christmas present.

Thanks LG (or Google) for sorting it out!

it happens the same to me. I tried reinstalling the app with no luck

Thanks for the confirmation. It's good to know that it's not just me! I'm a bit bewildered that nobody at LG has noticed or fixed this bug yet.

I'm in the exact situation, can't believe there is no fix yet. its very annoying not knowing if I liked a video or not

Same here on a 65UJ620V. At least I confirmed from a PC that the videos are not actually "Liked" on my account. However, not hitting Like/Not like does not help the algorithm suggest relevant videos to me. Weird that they haven't fixed it in well over a year!

I have had the exact same issue as OP on my LG oled55c7p for 2 years now. I’ve tried everything and nothing has worked. :( It’s good (?) to know at least I’m not the only one.

You're certainly not the only one! I've been tempted to reset my TV to factory settings, but feel that the chances of success are minimal, so not worth the heartache!

Oh that is exactly what brought me here. I had been hesitant to do a factory reset for so long, but I finally bit the bullet and did it last night. It did not fix the problem.

Thanks so much for trying the whole reset thing. Shame it didn't work, but good to know nonetheless. 👍

I have run into the same problem, and have discovered a workaround. I have a Google Pixel 7a, so always connected to a Google account. And YouTube on my LG UJ6300 is logged into the same account. With both devices on the same wifi, when I run the YouTube app on both devices, the phone offers to connect both devices. I then see the comments and other options (including the like and dislike buttons) on my phone that relate to whatever video is playing on the TV. The like and dislike buttons on the phone work as expected, whereas they are still non-functional on the TV's app.

It's not ideal, but at least it gives me some means of training YouTube's algorithm with my interests.

I have the same problem. It is frustrating because I forget whether or not I have clicked the like button. Initially I thought that, because the like button was filled in, that all my watched videos would automatically have a “like”, but that is not the case as you still have to press the button. And now my dislike button has suddenly been filled in as well.  There seems to be no solution to fix this, as I reset the app on my tv, and nothing changed! I have to double check with the YouTube app on my phone to recall whether I have pressed the like button on the video! YouTube should fix this issue but there is no way to get their help.

Omg, hallelujah, it’s FINALLY fixed!! They literally fixed it a day or two after the last
comment on this thread! I couldn’t be happier! Google has overhauled the UI. If you don’t see it yet, keep your YouTube app updated and it should be rolled out to you any day now.

You got me all excited with your message about it being fixed, but unfortunately nothing has changed for me on my OLED77G7V tv. I tried deleting the YouTube app and reinstalling it, but no difference.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they are still rolling it out to different TV types and maybe I'll see a change soon.

Thanks for posting.

I have an LG OLED TV 2024, and the remote does not have a FAV button. I have saved some favorite OTA channels through the Channel Manager, but I don't know how to access them without a FAV button. Can someone help me with this?

I have noticed a problem with webOS, i have С4 OLED and G5 OLED - and all of them running videos on youtube at low 1080p or no higher that 1440p with 50/60p - and i don't understand why.. everywhere else is fine, but on webOS is 50/50 i tried every codec possible and everytime my videos stuck on 1080p or 1440p - it's a problem! please fix it!
PS everything is fine if i upload 4k25p or 4k30p
PSS it's a problem only on webOS - on PC or android everything is OK.

I recently bought a 50NANO90A6B TV and so far I have to say it's a fantastic upgrade from my old Sony 40".
However, I've one small niggle problem (only had the TV since Sunday)... The YouTube app doesn't seem to want to work! it shows the logo with a spinny circle, then the logo starts again with the spinny circle... this just repeats over and over.
All other apps (iPlayer, Jellyfin, Plex, ITV, CH4 etc...) work as does the LGTV app, so the WiFi connection is fine!
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube app a few times, but it does the same each time!
Anyone know how I can sort this? any other suggestions for fixing it!
I'm currently using my Chromecast with GoogleTV for YouTube at the moment.
I'm in the UK by the way! And the TV is set to that, in all the relevant settings locations.
