First in the World to Receive ISO 13849-1 Certification for Mobile Service Robots,
LG Confirms Its Leadership in the Field of Robot Safety Technology

Logo of LG Electronics

SEOUL, June 28, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) has again proven its technological capabilities and commitment to creating safe, new innovations for a better life, becoming the first company in the world to receive the ISO 13849-1 certification* for its safety controller module utilized in mobile service robots. The new certification applies to LG’s advanced safety controllers for robots and was issued by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an international accredited registrar and classification body headquartered in Norway.

LG’s newly developed safety controller for robots ensures the highest level of operational safety and reliability by actively managing robots’ settings, monitoring signals from robots’ sensors in real-time and providing protective deceleration or stop-control whenever any risk is detected.

Composed of only one module, LG’s safety controller boasts a significant advantage over conventional controllers – it can be easily adapted according to the individual specifications of each robot, or to meet the unique requirements of each customer.

Previously, manufacturers had to analyze and evaluate every single aspect of functional safety for each robot they produced, but this is no longer the case thanks to LG’s sophisticated controller. This is expected to help the company authenticate and launch new service robots, such as those from its well-known LG CLOi ServeBot and LG CLOI GuideBot series, more quickly than before.

A leader in the fast-changing robotics industry, LG has accumulated a wealth of data and knowhow through many decades of tireless innovation. The company has introduced a wide variety of robot solutions optimized for settings such as hotels, hospitals and restaurants, and leveraging its diverse technological capabilities, including in the areas of autonomous driving systems, sensors, artificial intelligence and cameras.

Recently, the company announced its full-fledged entry into the next-generation logistics robot market with the launch of LG CLOi CarryBot, developed in collaboration with CJ Logistics, one of South Korea’s largest parcel delivery firms.

“As autonomous robots for both industry and consumer applications are becoming more common, the field of robot safety technology continues to grow in importance,” said Dr. Baek Seung-min, head of the Advanced Robotics Lab at LG Electronics. “We are leading the way in this critical area, leaning on our considerable technological capabilities and real-world experience in applied robotics to provide the highest level of functional safety for the next-generation of autonomous robots.”

I have a  42 inch LG OLED evo AI C4 4K Smart TV 2024 with a USE6S soundbar connected via HDMI.
Up until a few days ago, the iPhone app was connected via WiFi. I could use it to control the sound effect.
The sound bar remote could also change the sound effect, and the volume with the volume control visible on the TV screen.
Now the iPhone app does not connect to the soundbar and the remote control doesn't appear to alter the volums: there's no on screen display.
And also, the TV WOWcast output is not 'sticky': that it to say I can select it, and it remains for a time, but drops.

Recognition Highlights Company’s Commitment to Environmental Responsibility and
Carbon Reduction for a Better Life for All

SEOUL, April 9, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) has once again been recognized for its dedication to sustainability and eco-conscious initiatives, securing globally recognized eco-certifications for its 2025 OLED TVs. These achievements reaffirm LG’s commitment to environmental responsibility and the development of advanced products that contribute to a more sustainable world while reducing its carbon footprint.
For the fifth consecutive year, LG OLED evo TVs have received Reducing CO21 and Measured CO22 certifications from the Carbon Trust,3 a global climate consultancy advancing a zero-carbon future. These certifications evaluate a product’s environmental impact, including carbon emissions, throughout its entire life cycle – from manufacturing and distribution to usage and disposal.
LG OLED TVs excel in these rigorous assessments due to their self-emissive technology, which eliminates the need for a backlight, reducing component count and overall material use. Furthermore, LG OLED TVs incorporate ultra-light composite fiber materials, reducing weight and plastic use. For example, LG’s 65-inch OLED evo TV is 20 percent lighter than conventional LCD TVs of the same size and uses 60 percent less plastic.
As a result, LG anticipates reducing plastic consumption in OLED TV production by approximately 16,000 tons in 2025 compared to an equivalent number of LCD TVs. The company also expects to lower carbon emissions by 84,000 tons across manufacturing and transportation – equivalent to the CO2 absorbed annually by a 30-year-old pine forest the size of 11,000 football fields.
New for 2025, LG’s latest OLED TVs have earned Resource Efficiency certification4 from Intertek, a globally recognized testing and certification body. This certification follows a thorough assessment of material efficiency – covering recyclable design, reduced use of harmful substances and ease of repair – as well as energy efficiency and the incorporation of recycled plastics. By meeting these stringent standards, LG’s commitment to sustainability has been formally recognized, highlighting its dedication to environmentally responsible design.
In 2024, LG incorporated approximately 30 percent recycled plastic in the production of the company’s TVs, recycling around 6,300 tons of waste plastic. In 2025, the company plans to increase its use of recycled plastic to 50 percent, expecting to recycle approximately 7,700 tons of waste plastic annually.
“With a strong commitment to sustainability, LG OLED TVs provide exceptional picture quality and advanced AI features within an eco-conscious design that minimizes carbon footprint throughout the product lifecycle,” said Baik Seon-pill, head of Product Planning Division at the LG Media Solution Company. “Innovation and environmental responsibility go hand in hand, and we remain dedicated to protecting the planet while supporting a better life for all.”

      Responsible and Sustainability-Focused Corporate Citizens

SEOUL, Feb. 13, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) has once again secured a “Top 1%” ranking in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), marking the second consecutive year it has received this distinction. Scoring 77 out of 100, LG achieved the highest marks among the 66 companies in the CSA’s Leisure Equipment & Products and Consumer Electronics industry category.
LG’s consistent performance across multiple assessment categories reflects its commitment to responsible environmental, social and governance (ESG) management. The company received high marks in environmental criteria, demonstrating strong performance in waste and pollutants management, energy management program and climate strategy. It also scored well in social categories, including human rights, supply chain management and customer relations. Additionally, LG earned high ratings in governance for its transparency in reporting sustainability-related information.
S&P Global’s CSA provides a comprehensive evaluation of companies’ ESG performance, identifying the top 1 percent, 5 percent and 10 percent in each industry. Out of 7,690 companies across 62 industries assessed in the latest evaluation, only 66 achieved the “Top 1%” ranking.
Securing this recognition for consecutive years highlights LG’s growing global acknowledgment as a leader in ESG management. The CSA serves as a key benchmark for investors worldwide, reinforcing LG’s commitment to sustainable business practices.
To realize its Better Life for All vision, LG has established six strategic tasks for ESG management. These are focused on what LG terms the “3Cs” for the planet (carbon neutrality, circularity and clean technology), and the “3Ds” for people (design for all, decent workplace and diversity & inclusion).

Additionally, LG is committed to cutting Scope 3 emissions from the use of sold products by 20 percent per functional unit by 2030, based on a 2020 baseline.
Additionally, LG is enhancing resource efficiency by increasing the use of recycled plastics sourced from waste appliances and developing paper-based cushioning materials to reduce plastic use in packaging.
LG remains dedicated to fostering a strong corporate culture rooted in ethical business practices. The company has implemented its Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct across all business sites and has established Human Rights Principles to uphold corporate integrity. LG continues to transparently communicate its business direction and corporate value enhancement plans, including the Future Vision 2030, the LG Electronics India IPO and shareholder return policies, ensuring meaningful engagement with stakeholders.
Furthermore, LG has reinforced its corporate governance structure by establishing clear guidelines on the independence, diversity and expertise of its independent directors, along with the implementation of its corporate governance charter.
“As a responsible global corporate citizen, LG remains dedicated to upholding the principles of good ESG management and will continue striving toward a future of shared, sustainable growth,” said Hong Sung-min, head of LG’s ESG Strategy Division.

Apparently, the LG model OLED55CSPUA has an issue with the external device power on/off control. I can configure the IR Bose soundbar well enough, as setup sequence tests it good to control soundbar power. but after exiting the setup, when i press the external device power button on the remote, the TV just wants to cycle through the setup again.  It doesn't toggle soundbar power, just cycles back to the setup.   i have tried factory settings reset and verified that there are no other devices on the TV.
