and . What this means is that HP is holding true to continuing development on driving webOS towards their commitment to the open-source community. Additionally, QtWebKit promises to bring cutting edge support for the latest web features and standards, something that the current web browser has certainly been a bit behind on. QtWebKit was originally developed and has since been open-sourced by Nokia, and has been powering other mobile browsers on various platforms. This also marks the first release of any open-source components from the webOS platform itself after originally announcing the plans and releasing the . Furthermore HP goes on to clarify that UI Enyo widgets will be released by the end of February.

In related news, we have also heard that WebOS Internals are in to incorporate a “tech preview” release for the TouchPad via Preware. This package is said to include the new QtWebKit package and allow it to run along side the current stock browser. Once released, this preview should allow anyone to easily download it via Preware to test out some of the improvements and features of this new framework. If you are like us and love all the work WebOS Internals has put into the community, feel free to .

I noticed since the last update of WebOS, it defaults to a screen with apps along the bottom rather than HDMI1 as before on startup.  Even after going into the input settings and selecting HDMI1, it stills defaults to the other screen on startup.  When selecting HDMI1 on the inputs screen, it has a red dot in the corner, which I would assumes means that's the selected default.  But again, this seems to be ignored this on startup.
      Thanks.

      UPDATING YOUR FIRMWARE
The firmware that powers your LG Ultra HD 4K Smart TV with webOS should be updated from time to time to enhance your experience and improve its operation. Thankfully, this can be done easily and quickly, right at home.
Watch this quick video to learn more. Or follow the easy steps below to get started.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO UPDATE MY FIRMWARE?
Firmware updates don't happen frequently, so you should be fine checking for updates every other month.
HOW DO I CHECK FOR, AND DOWNLOAD, AVAILABLE FIRMWARE UPDATES?
Before you do anything, make sure you have an Ethernet cord connected directly from your router to your television. Wireless Internet connections are not reliable enough for firmware updates.
Use this diagram if you need help getting set up:
      http://www.lg.com/us/support/answers/tvs2014/uhd/images/nonsmart3dtv_article_updatefirmware_11.gif
ONCE YOUR TV HAS A WIRED CONNECTION, DO THE FOLLOWING:
Press the MENU Click SYSTEM SETTINGS Then ABOUT Then SYSTEM UPDATES You'll be advised that your system is currently up to date or requested to select CHECK NOW for the latest update. If a new version is available, it downloads automatically. FIRMWARE UPDATES WILL ALSO UPDATE LG ULTRA HD 4K SMART TV AND LG APPS AT THE SAME TIME.

Samsung has made fridges with touchscreens before. LG has made fridges with doors that turn transparent to show you the inside. This year at CES 2018, those two ideas are finally merging into one with LG’s new InstaView ThinQ smart refrigerator, which features a 29-inch touchscreen that becomes transparent if users knock on it twice.
LG actually tried this two years ago, with a version called the Smart InstaView Door-in-Door that ran a full version of Windows 10, but it’s not clear that the company ever shipped the Windows version.
This version uses the touchscreen to manage your food using LG’s webOS software and Amazon’s Alexa, which will let you tag food with virtual stickers and expiration dates and get automatic reminders when things are running low or about to go bad. There’s also a wide-angle panoramic camera on the inside of the fridge that will let you remotely view your fridge while you’re out and about to check and see if you’re actually out of milk or not.

Unfortunately, the only image that LG has shared showing the fridge is a low-resolution shot on its YouTube page banner, but it seems that you’ll be able to still use the screen while it’s translucent, allowing you to tag food directly in a vaguely augmented reality-esque move.
LG is also touting how all of its ThinQ kitchen gadgets can talk to each other to make kitchen tasks easier. So your ThinQ fridge can talk to your EasyClean oven, which will help you cook food through step-by-step instructions from the recipe app from your fridge. Then, your EasyClean oven can notify your QuadWash dishwasher about the kind of meal you cooked, so it can more efficiently select a wash cycle for that dish. Of course, all this requires spending thousands of dollars replacing every appliance in your kitchen (and if this all works as well as LG claims it does), but it’s still an intriguing vision of a Jetsons-like future utopia.
No price or release date for the InstaView ThinQ refrigerator or any of LG’s other new appliances have yet been announced.
