SEOUL, Nov. 1, 2021 — LG Electronics (LG) announced that its strategy for cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the entire manufacturing process from production to use by 2030 has been independently reviewed and validated by climate expert SBTi, making LG the Korean manufacturer of home appliances to receive such recognition. The validation confirms LG’s confidence in its strategy to reduce the total amount of direct greenhouse gas emissions in line with Business Ambition for 1.5°C, which LG

to earlier this year.

SBTi is a global coalition organization co-founded by the Carbon Information Disclosure Project (CDP), United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) to promote science-based targets for reducing GHG. To achieve its Zero Carbon 2030 pledge established in 2019, LG’s plan calls for reducing the total amount of direct greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1 and targeting indirect greenhouse gases generated during the production process by 50 percent compared to 2017 standards in Scope 2. LG expects to reduce GHG emissions up to 20 percent in the product use stage compared to 2020 standards in Scope 3.

LG’s environmental commitment was on further display at last month’s Route to Net Zero: Asia conference hosted by Carbon Trust, the London-based business-led publicly funded organization founded 20 years ago to respond to climate change. The presentation covered the many LG appliances that have earned Carbon Trust Footprint Label and Water Footprint Certification for their effectiveness in reducing household carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and water usage to minimize the products’ impact on the environment.

Under its recently unveiled Zero Negative Environmental Impact initiative, LG plans to establish more production sites that make a positive impact on the environment. To ensure that the company reaches its stretch goals for carbon neutrality and circular economy, LG announced its intention to reduce the use of petrochemical-based plastics by introducing up to 600,000 tons of recycled plastic into its manufacturing process by 2030 and nearly double the recovery of electronic waste to 8 million tons by the same year.

“As an industry leader, LG takes its responsibility as a good corporate citizen in the global community very seriously,” said Kim Joon-ho, executive vice president and head of LG Electronics’ Quality Management Center. “LG is firmly committed to realizing our carbon neutrality and net-zero science-based targets so that future generations will still be able to say that life’s good.”

To Give Corporate Customers the Level of Protection they Demand, Company is
Applying Reliable Anti-Eavesdropping System to Latest Digital Signage Solutions

SEOUL, Aug. 11, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) is introducing an innovative eavesdropping detection solution for its commercial signage products. Going forward, the cutting-edge security system will be applied to the company’s flagship models, including LG LED All-in-One, LG LED Bloc and LG MAGNIT, as well as select video walls and UHD signage products supporting webOS 4.1.
As demand for commercial signage products expands across multiple industries, so does the need for related technologies that serve the needs of companies operating in different sectors. Although counter-surveillance is important in every sector, some entities such as corporates, government agencies, national institutions and the military prioritize confidentiality and the protection of personal information. LG, in partnership with high-tech security technology provider
link hidden, please login to view, has addressed this growing need by installing a dedicated app that runs with GITSN’s eavesdropping detection terminal in LG’s smart signage platform, webOS. The new eavesdropping detection function displays a warning icon on screen in real time as soon as it detects any abnormal signal. The system utilizes simple icons to keep attendees updated on just how secure they are at all times. Moreover, LG’s webOS-based detection function, which can cover multiple conference/control rooms at once, analyzes every inch of a potential risk fast and accurately to alert those in charge immediately.
“LG’s newest solution detects various potential, unexpected risks and reports it immediately, while also bringing the company’s security management up to date,” said Paik Ki-mun, senior vice president and head of the Information Display business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company. “LG will continue to introduce the high-definition display solutions that not only express the most vivid colors and clear images to date, but also let consumers feel safe while they use them.”
The latest signage solution will be available in the third quarter of 2022, starting with key markets in Middle East and Asia, with other markets to follow.

I can stream ABC content using either the iView app on our LG G1 65" OLED, or via the iView Android TV app that is installed on a Chromecast with Google TV that is plugged into one of the G1 HDMI ports. If I stream content using the app on the TV, every few minutes there's a momentary (fraction of a second) interruption to both sound and video. If I stream the same content using the app on the Chromecast, I get no such interruptions. Both TV and Chromecast are using wired Ethernet connections to the same switch, so I can't see that these interruptions are due to a network problem, or I'd see them on both devices. It would seem to be a problem with the app provided on the TV. Other streaming services that we access via apps on the TV (Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime, etc) do not show the same problem.

Seeing this error when accessing the content store.
Long story short, I'm able to watch netflix and various other streaming services but Disney+ went "weird" recently and would allow me to navigate to various shows but then always encounters a "problem".  I noticed Disney+ has a new app update on various Android devices I own so I figured it might need an update on my LG OLED 55E6V  too.  But the content store has been temporarily unavailable for 24 hours now.
It's the first time I'm seeing this - anyone else?
I updated my email-based LG account and consented to some new terms and conditions in the hope it would make a difference but now I feel like I was mugged into that, all for nothing.  Meantime... no Disney+ and no way to check my LG WebOS apps are up to date (strongly suspect there might be a new Disney+ app).  The "Account Management" option on my TV results in a black screen and this just feels like things are unravelling.
I have firmware 05.60.15 and no updates are available.
