Adapting to a new lifestyle of working and learning from home, people are eager to experience new ways to feel more collaborative and connected. Recently, LG took this challenge to a whole new level by creating an entire virtual world for employees graduating from a professional training program.

For years LG Electronics and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) have been partnering on a software certification program for LG employees. This year, with more than a hundred LG employees completing the program during the pandemic, LG invited employees and officials to a metaverse graduation ceremony.

Students were able to choose a personal avatar and interact with other avatars in the virtual world, participating in games and tours of LG headquarters and the CMU campus before the ceremony. At an event hall on the CMU campus, students’ avatars then received a certificate marking the completion of training. The festivities wrapped up with a party and virtual fireworks.

“Our first metaverse graduation ceremony provided an opportunity for employees who have completed software expertise training to share the joy of a job well done with one another,” said LG president and CTO I.P. Park.

To date, approximately 600 students have experienced the coursework with more than 1,000 professionals expected to graduate by 2023. Many graduates have taken on new roles in LG as AI specialists, software architects and software security specialists after completing the program. To further bolster its software expertise, LG is partnering with other globally renowned universities including New York University, University of Southern California, University of Toronto and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in addition to Carnegie Mellon University.

Matthew Bass, associate director at Carnegie Mellon University said, that this year’s graduates were “truly impressive… the teams worked incredibly hard and the results far exceeded our expectations when this project was initially put together.”

After finally getting through downloading the user agreements, I was prompted to do an update on my LG Smart TV.  I monitored the update progress, which took hours. I don’t know exactly how many, but after two hours the update was at 32%. I let it run all night and it was finished by morning. Has anyone had this issue? Will all updates take this long? Thanks!

SEOUL, Oct. 5, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) home entertainment innovations – led by the world’s largest OLED TV, the 97-inch G2 OLED evo Gallery Edition, and ultra-premium LG SIGNATURE OLED TVs – shared the spotlight with multi-talented musician and LG SIGNATURE brand ambassador John Legend last week during one of North America’s premier home tech conferences.
LG’s booth at the 2022 CEDIA Expo in Dallas, Texas, USA was set up for visitors to experience how the company is reshaping home entertainment with stunning, technologically advanced TVs such as the 97-inch G2 OLED evo, making its U.S. debut, and the award-winning 88-inch LG SIGNATURE OLED 8K TV. To end the first day of the show on a high note, LG SIGNATURE teamed up with Legend to host an invitation-only, offsite VIP customer event.
The evening started with Legend sharing the story of his continuing journey with LG SIGNATURE. Prior to being served, the bottles were kept perfectly chilled inside the temperature-and humidity-controlled LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar, the ultimate home solution for wine afficionados.

When I try to go to a TV programme via the remote control voice option, the TV tries to look up the channel on the app I'm on, instead of going straight to the TV channel on the antenna. This used to work without any problems up until a couple of days ago. Any help appreciated.

The new WebOS Home makes the TV feels more gadget-ty or app-y while the old home feels more like an appliance. Is there a way to get back to the old home view?

We just purchased a new LG WebOS TV OLED 65" and running the setup through the app or the TV remote says it can't load the user agreement. This is blocking us from getting to streaming apps like Nexflix or any smart functions like Voice assistant.
TV worked fine for a few days but voice assistant stopped working and after much effort LG tech said to  Reset to Initial Settings. Now we have mentioned no smart functions. TV is on ethernet and its browser functions on web fine. Tried running off neighbor's wifi with same results.
Tried switching to different country, unplugging/hold power button for 20 seconds/wait one minute,  resetting TV multiple times, setting up remote again, ...
Error message: Unable to Load User Agreements  A server error has occurred while downloading  the User Agreements. You must download and agree to the terms of the User Agreements to use this feature or application. Do you want to try to download them again… Unable to Load User Agreements  Sorry, but the User Agreements  can't be downloaded at this time…Please check your internet connection and try again later.    No change when trying over five days.
Now there is no local company available to service TV. Maybe it's time to send it back and give LG TV a one star rating. I am willing to change motherboards but doubt if LG would go along with that.
      Anyone have any ideas.
