Leveraging the power of ultraviolet light, and operating automatically at regular intervals, UVnano reduces 99.99 percent of bacteria on the refrigerator’s water dispenser nozzle, helping ensure a clean and safe drinking experience.2 At the same time, LG’s use of NSF-certified water filters provided added assurance that the water used for both drinking and ice-making met the high standards for cleanliness. By addressing the importance of hygiene, LG helped further strengthen consumer trust in its market-leading refrigerators.
Smaller, Smarter and Even More Thoughtful
In 2023, LG introduced Mini Cubed Ice in the U.S. market – a new feature that produces tiny ice cubes ideal for quickly chilling drinks like sodas or cocktails. As well as demonstrating LG’s technology and design prowess, Mini Cubed Ice illustrates the human-centeredness and attention to detail that the company brings to all of its lifestyle solutions.
For a smarter, more convenient ice-management experience, LG refrigerators equipped with the ThinQ platform allow users to monitor their ice inventory and activate the Ice Plus feature to speed up ice production whenever needed.3 It’s a seamless blend of smart tech and everyday utility.

This partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, aims to seamlessly combine LG’s AI-driven smart life solutions with Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) technology, creating a distinctive mobility space experience.
Through this partnership, LG and Kia seek to enhance the PBV experience, transforming everyday mobility into a seamless and convenient lifestyle extension. Integrated LG appliances – such as a refrigerator, air conditioner and Styler – allow users to transform their vehicle into a mobile office or studio.
Debuting at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, the Spielraum Studio and Spielraum Glow cabin concepts demonstrate how users can customize their vehicle space to fit their unique lifestyles. Spielraum Studio, designed for entrepreneurs who travel frequently and need both workspace and storage, features LG’s modular Styler, smart mirror and a coffee machine – all optimized for the interior of the PV5, Kia’s first dedicated PBV. Catering to a different lifestyle, the Spielraum Glow cabin targets the rising trend of car picnics and camping. Additionally, all integrated appliances feature MoodUP panels, allowing users to customize their space with dynamic color options that match their preferences.
At the heart of the Spielraum concept is the LG ThinQ ON, an AI-powered home hub that provides highly personalized experiences. By leveraging generative AI, it enables interactive conversations, optimal control of in-vehicle appliances and efficient schedule management. Beyond providing useful information such as weather and traffic updates, the system can connect to external services, including food delivery, laundry and restaurant reservations.

Recently, over 50 Princeton University Korean language students visited LG Electronics North America’s headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. For some, LG College Day is more than just an educational visit – it’s a gateway to a future career. One former participant was so inspired during his visit that he later joined LG as a full-time employee, underscoring the program’s role in connecting top talent with real-world opportunities.
The visit began with an introductory session where students explored LG’s business strategy, technological advancements and global impact. A highlight of the session was a dynamic panel discussion featuring LG executives and industry experts, who shared valuable insights on career development, leadership and the future of technology.

Enhanced Energy Efficiency and Advanced Heating with the New Therma V R290
Located at the entrance of LG’s exhibition booth, the Hero zone introduces visitors to the new Therma V R290 Monobloc. This impressive residential solution boasts excellent energy efficiency and a premium European design. Winner of a 2024 International Design Excellence Award and rated “Good” by the German consumer organization Stiftung Warentest, the new Therma V utilizes R290 refrigerant, which has a low Global Warming Potential of 3. Designed to reduce energy usage and environmental impact, LG’s solution harnesses heat from the air to reduce carbon emissions and achieve an A+++ energy rating.1
Made to withstand Europe’s tough winter conditions, the new Therma V AWHP leverages LG’s proprietary scroll compressor to deliver exceptional energy efficiency and a strong, reliable performance. The positioning of the compressor at a lower-than-usual height within the unit itself contributes to the Therma V’s ability to function at 100 percent capacity, even at temperatures as low as minus 15 degrees Celsius. It also leads to improved energy savings and operational stability. With a noise level of just 50 A-weighted decibels in Low Noise Mode, the Therma V produces minimal vibrations, helping to create a relaxing and peaceful environment both inside and outside the home.2
In the multi-residential and large-scale housing zone, LG is presenting the Monobloc G large capacity AWHP and the Cascade Control Unit. The energy-efficient Cascade system offers flexible scalability, allowing the addition of up to eight units to cope with increased heating demand. The Cascade provides multiple benefits for multi-family dwellings, including low-noise operation, a space-saving design and continuous operation via backup systems.
Efficient Heating and Cooling Solutions for Modern Homes and Multi-Residential Buildings
LG’s ISH exhibition includes a variety of residential heating solutions that have been purpose-built for European kitchens, laundry rooms and living areas. The company’s latest Heat Pump Water Heaters (HPWH) with R290 refrigerant, which use electricity as well as energy from the air to heat water, offer higher efficiency than conventional electric or gas water heaters. Smart Grid ready, HPWHs can enhance energy efficiency by adjusting operation in response to electricity demand signals. Furthermore, to maximize suitability for a wider range of installation environments, LG’s water heaters are available in both floor-standing and wall-mounted types.
The new DUALCOOL AI Air with AI DUAL Inverter provides optimized air conditioning by detecting the ambient temperature of a space and intelligently adjusting the set temperature and airflow direction and speed. The company offers three different DUALCOOL AI AIR indoor units with R290 refrigerant to suit any home, with each variant offering easy installation and maximum space efficiency.
Advanced Commercial HVAC Solutions for Effective Energy Management
Additionally, LG is introducing a range of cutting-edge commercial heating solutions at ISH. A standout among these is the LG Inverter Scroll Chiller – an energy-efficient system for heating (and cooling) commercial facilities. Equipped with twin inverter scroll compressors and plate-type heat exchangers, the LG Inverter Scroll Chiller offers a wide operating frequency range and excellent heat transfer efficiency. When integrated with LG’s Building Energy Control (BECON) CPM system, the chiller provides seamless control of all connected fan coil units and air conditioning systems. BECON CPM monitors and adjusts various control elements to maintain peak efficiency and allows users to track system status in real time. It even sends users helpful alerts if an issue arises, so that appropriate action can be taken to quickly remedy the situation. Set to launch in Europe, BECON CPM also employs LG’s advanced AI-based technology to prevent energy waste and to simplify control for system managers.
One of the many highlights of LG’s booth is the R32 Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF)-based integrated solution package. The LG Multi V i, an all-electric VRF solution, intelligently manages performance according to environmental changes and helps prevent unnecessary energy consumption. When connected to the Hydro Kit, the Multi V i supports floor heating and hot water supply while its compatibility with Air Handling Unit applications from various companies enables it to serve large warehouses and other specialized business-to-business environments. Company Expands 6G Leadership With 3GPP Executive Role and Cutting-Edge R&D
SEOUL, March 14, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) continues to solidify its leadership in 6G communications, a transformative technology poised to shape the future of connectivity.
Kim Lae-young, Senior Research Engineer at LG’s CTO Office, has been appointed Vice Chair of the Service and System Aspects (SA) plenary at the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), the global authority on mobile communications standards. The SA plenary plays a pivotal role in defining 5G and 6G system architectures, service scenarios, requirements and security mechanisms. It also drives the evolution of 5G-Advanced and the standardization of next-generation 6G technologies.
This appointment underscores LG’s expertise in communications protocols and system architecture. The company has already demonstrated its leadership by serving consecutive terms as the chair company of the Applications Working Group in the Next G Alliance, a North American 6G technology initiative led by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions.
With this latest leadership role, LG aims to accelerate 6G research and development while actively contributing to global standardization efforts. 6G technology – enabling ultra-fast, low-latency and AI-integrated communication – will be crucial to LG’s future innovations in AI-powered smart homes, mobility and smart factories.
