Receiving/Decoding satellite channels on LG Smart TV?

Hi All, I've been using a satellite set top box to receive Intelsat, UK TV. Realised the TV has satellite input so connected my dish cable directly into the TV sat input and  I can get to the point where I can see all the UK TV channels but every one is black, no picture or sound. I'm assuming there is an extra step in the setup but can't work out what to do. Can anyone advise what I need to do, is it even possible? Or is there an additional app that I can download? Thanks!

      On my LG 'smart' TV now for some reason I can now only watch the LG channels but not the fiber-optic programming on wi-fi . The HDMI 1 feed I normally use shows 'dark' on the Dashboard even though I can get the green checkmark on it. How do I reconnect it? The Dashboard shows my feed as ethernet/cable; which is wrong but efforts to correct it have failed so far.

      It seems our LG TV has done an update which has removed the "standard " BBC channels from the guide . After one day BBC2 has reappeared . The HD channels are present though . I've done a re-scan but no change . I've looked to see if we can move BBC1 HD (on 101) to Chanel 1 on the guide but doesn't seem to be an option. 
      Anybody else have this problem and any cures ?

      i always have to turn off the TV using the power switch (put on standby won't do) to view ''live tv'' channels again after watching LG Channels................any way to do that without powering off the tv completely ? 😟
