Video from PC to TV - subtitle problem

Hello,

I have a problem with the subtitles when I try to share a video wirelessly directly from my PC to my LG 55SM9010PLA TV. I am not talking about sharing the whole screen (it lags a bit), just the video itself. 

Sharing the video itself works well, but randomly the TV randomly does not recognise the subtitle, the sub option is not active in the TV menu, and there are no subtitles. It is in the same folder on my PC as the movie (.mkv), with the same name. In case of some movies it works, in case of others not, and I do not see the reasons why.

First I tought it is becouse the format of the subtitle needs to be ".sub", becouse it worked with one movie. So I have learnt how to convert properly ".srt" to ".sub" - but still no success.
Then I realised, in the case of another movie ".srt" worked on the TV, so I got really confused.

I see no logic behind it.  Could you help me, what is the key here, what am I missing?

I'm wrestling with a similar issue now, on my LG UM73 55 4K Smart UHD TV. I enable "Media Streaming" on my PC, and stream the content using the built-in Photos & Videos app to the TV. Works fine for video content.

I find that .mkv streams with integrated captions work fine. But I am unable to get the subtitle option enabled for .mp4 video. I have made sure that the subtitle file is in the same folder as the video file, has the same name as the video (of course with .srt file extension) and that there are no dots or spaces in the video or subtitle file names. The subtitle file is ANSI encoding. Still does not work.

Any hints on how subtitles can be made to work for .mp4 files?

      I have an LG smart TV OLED65G36LA (LG OS v03.20.17, webOS TV version 8.20.0-710) , and the Prime Video App was no longer able to update (from Dec 2025) and therefore could no longer be used.
      I have tried uninstalling the app and re-installing, and that was unable to work, so then applied a full reset on the LG TV and so had to reinstall all of my other apps (Apple TV, Netflix, etc etc) which all successfully downloaded so confirmed network connections and setup are all confirmed working.
      When I try to download the Prime Video app, it remains stuck on the download screen and is unable to update.

      Hello there!
      Recently the prime video app started to require the update to open, and now i am having a problem, because this app update REQUIRES to a system update of firmware (to webos24),
      but it will make impossible to homebrew later.
      So, can someone at least provide the last or update ipk of amazon (amazon.ipk), so i can install manually?

      Problem: Auto switch to HDMI input in LG TVs

      My newly purchased 75-Inch Class QNED 4K LED QNED85T series TV with webOS 24 has a setup box and soundbar connected via HDMI. It automatically returns to HDMI input when I move between home and any app (like YouTube, Prime, etc.). It appears to automatically detect and switch to the HDMI input always. The soundbar attached to the HDMI was disconnected if I turned off Simplink (HDMI-CEC). There doesn't seem to be a way to disable auto sensing option. It appears that LG TVs lack a function or problem. 
      I have a Hisense TV with the same setup, and it functions perfectly. I have no trouble switching between apps and controlling devices connected via HDMI.

      Date problem after 03.51.15 update

      After recent software update of LG OS software update 03.51.15, there is constant problem with Date.  Date is not setting properly and getting defaulted, due to which browser and most of the apps are not working.. Have tried to reset to original settings and remove automatic date setting option then tried setting manually.. but every day its resetting to old date.
