HDMI ARC To Soundbar not working when turning on each morning

Recommended Posts

Oled55C9 tv and SL9YG soundbar connected via ARC HDMI. Works great. Switch on tv in morning and no tv sound through bar. Have to disconnect all tv/soundbar/btbox from mains elec and restart including BT YouView box startup (takes ages) and sound works ok again.

Changed soundbar and cables, checked all settings on tv. Absolutely delighted with tv and soundbar (when it works)

Any suggestions for a fix?

I think it may the BT YouView set top box that is the problem, so have decided to switch to latest sky q box.  Also,  If I just switch off the soundbar at the wall and take plug out, the soundbar re boots and works ok, if I leave the tv and bt box switched on.

its very frustrating...

For info after last post. There is nothing else connected to soundbar. Only the tv..

When it displays ARC on the soundbar there is no sound. Scroll through the remote and the tv sound comes on in USB display, Bluetooth display, then get no sound when  HDMI/optical/ARC is displayed. Pull out soundbar plug, it re boots again and works fine.

Similar problem No sound coming from the SoundBar which is connected to ARC. After numerous trials with LG support, even changed the TV, I ascertained the following:

A connected device - Pace HD PVR (set-up-box) causes the arc sound to misbehave and no sound is sent to the SoundBar.

If you disconnect it, the arc and SoundBar work perfectly.

I bought a new ethernet HDMI cable to try and hopefully this will solve the problem.

No seems to understand and know why the Pace HD PVR causes this problem.

Hope this helps.

I have the same issue with Bose 700 soundbar. Everything worked fine until about a week back but now every time I turn  on the TV, there is no output to soundbar via HDMI ARC.

I think a software update recently is probably the root cause of this issue. Can someone from LG acknowledge atleast this is a known issue?

Had the same problem with my 55UB8500, fixed it by turning off "Auto Power Sync" in the Simplink menu. Your speaker system won't shut off when you turn off you tv, but it may have an auto shutoff, like my lg surround system does, and when you turn your tv back on it will turn on or wake up your sound system and connect with arc.

Up until a few days ago my TV and AVR have been working perfectly since I bought it.
Zero hassles with HDMI and connectivity.
Then I was prompted to update to the latest software version which I did and now often when I switch HDMI (running on 1) it picks up the device name, CEC works but I get “No Signal”… and then nothing.
Just stays on “No Signal”. It is almost as if some HDMI handshake breaks and now the driver is in a broken state.
I’ve found that if I hard power off and power on the device sometimes works but I don’t want to do that every time especially since it’s hard to get to the power.
This really strikes me as a software issue with the latest update as absolutely nothing else has changed in my setup.
      I’ve tried:
Different HDMI cables (high quality) Deep colour settings Reset the TV to factory default Different HDMI ports TV
      Model: OLED65G26LA / OLED65G26LA.HFBQLWK WebOS TV Version: 8.3.0.2301 Software Version: 13.30.56 AVR & Devices
Marantz SR5015 Nvidia Shield Pro PS5
The setup is the conventional AVR installation as shown in the attached file

      Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it possible to revert the software update?

Another unwanted update, bringing unwanted changes and now my Cambridge Audio soundbar is screwed.
My LG TV just performed an auto update to WebOS 13.30.56. When the TV restarted, all I now get out of the ARC connection is a constant loud buzzing, no programme audio. Well done LG software team. A triumph!
I have tried resetting the soundbar (it plays fine if I plug in an external device) but all I get from the LG TV is BUZZZZZZZ. I tried restarting both the TV and the Soundbar: BUZZZZZZZZZ. I tried a new HDMI cable BUZZZZZZZZ. So what do I do now?? I did not want this OS update, it brings nothing to me and everything was working perfectly before the update and sound on the (awful) inbuilt LG TV speakers is working, but the ARC audio output to my rather lovely Cambridge Audio soundbar is now, since the Web OS update, just a constant BUZZZZZZZ. I decided to try the Optical output of the LG connected to the soundbar instead. The soundbar is flashing "AUDIO ERROR" at me (I have tried all of the different audio output format options, all with the same result).
It really pi$$es me off when software teams release badly executed updates that break their customers devices. We are not your R&D test department LG, we are paying customers with whom you lose trust, brand loyalty and future sales when poor engineering teams release software updates that are not fully tested. God only knows what LG have done here but after 2 hours of trying to resolve an issue THEY caused on my setup, I have given up.
Has anyone else had this issue and have suggestions please? I have tried to contact LG using their Email Support function, wading through the multiple layers to get to the right page and spending time typing up all the details of my support request, etc, but no response yet (other than the automated bot stuff).
      Thanks.

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

We have a 65UM7300AUE with software version 05.40.10. We have a Google TV dongle plugged into the HDMI 1 port and that is the input we use most of the time. Until recently every time we would turn the TV on it would default to HDMI 1 and the Google TV home screen would be the first thing we’d see. Life was good. Several weeks ago that changed and now the LG OS (I assume) home screen is the first thing we see. Then we have to use the LG remote to select HDMI 1 each time. We never used to have to do this or use the LG remote at all. Kind of annoying. We think we have HDMI 1 chosen as our default input but it doesn’t seem to matter. Any ideas on how we get things back to the way they used to be with the TV defaulting to HDMI 1 automatically?
