I have an lg 65sm9000 . It is attached to a S5430W Vizio soundbar via the optical cable. Although the sound bar operates with my TV, I'm unable to control it with the LG magic remote. I  cannot power it on or off and I .cannot control the volume with the magic remote. I have to use the vizio sound bar remote. Does anyone know a way to remedy this difficulty?

You need to remove the optical cable and connect an HDMI cable from the tv’s HDMI ( ARC) port to the soundbar’s ARC port.

After doing that turn on LG Simplink in the settings. Then you will be able to control the soundbar from the magic remote.

You can also add the device using device connector -> add device.

Simplink is basically HDMI CEC that allows control of connected HDMI devices.

Optical cable is just an audio output cable and cannot be used to control the other device.

Get a decent HDMI cable.

Karan, thank you for your response.

I tried your solution, but for some reason, it didn't work for me. I removed the optical cable and connected the HDMI cable to the TV's HDMI (ARC) port and the soundbar's ARC port. Also,

via the SOUND settings menu, I set the Sound Out to HDMI (ARC). According to the settings display, this also automatically turned on the LG Simpliink. Unfortunately, something is amiss because I could get no sound from the sound bar.The volume buttons on the magic remote now controlled the  the soundbar volume indicator (which was not the case before the connection change), but no sound was produced.

Any further suggestions?

Probably your sound output is not set right. Go to settings and change audio output to auto. It might be set to PCM or something else.

if still doesn’t work after changing to auto, restart the tv and soundbar fro mains.

still not, then press the “AD” button on the magic remote while HDMI 2/3 whichever is ARC is selected as source. You’ll get a menu with power button. Click that and the soundbar will power off. Then after 2 mins do the same to power on again.

These should work definitely.

I have a  42 inch LG OLED evo AI C4 4K Smart TV 2024 with a USE6S soundbar connected via HDMI.
Up until a few days ago, the iPhone app was connected via WiFi. I could use it to control the sound effect.
The sound bar remote could also change the sound effect, and the volume with the volume control visible on the TV screen.
Now the iPhone app does not connect to the soundbar and the remote control doesn't appear to alter the volums: there's no on screen display.
And also, the TV WOWcast output is not 'sticky': that it to say I can select it, and it remains for a time, but drops.

Trying to programme my magic remote to control an Amlogic OTT, however keep getting a ‘temporary issue occurred’ when I try. I’ve been trying for over a week now, so this temporary issue isn’t so temporary!

I have recently purchased an LG 55QNED86 television. I am located in Iran. Everything seems to be working fine, but when I click on any of the options, it tells me I must first consent to the LG Smart TV user agreement. However, I then get a message saying "Unable to load user agreements - a server error has occurred ......"
      Can you help?

I've just purchased an OLED48 C44 LA which comes with a US 60T soundbar. I've connected the soundbar to the HDMI earc socket. Because my hearing isn't too good I'd like to also have some heaphones plugged into the 3.5mm socket so that both the hdmi earc and 3.5mm socket have sound simultaneously. I've been into accessablity menu and the listen together option doesn't appear to offer both hdmiearc and 3.5 mm simultaneously. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
just to be clear, There is a setting which permits TV speakers plus wired external headphones. I just haven't found a setting which allows HDMI earc soundbar plus wired headphones.
