LG 4k Projector.JPG

LG has unveiled a new model in its projector lineup ahead of CES 2018. The LG 4K UHD projector with model number HU80KA is the first such device by the company in the segment but is unlike most of its competitors. The South Korean company claims that the new projector is almost half the size of its 4K rivals in the market, and is able to project a 150-inch display apart from supporting HDR video. While most 4K projectors currently in the market are heavy and expensive, LG has pitched the 4K UHD projector as an "affordable yet premium device".

In the new 4K UHD projector, LG claims the brightness reaches up to at 2,500 lumens that makes it the brightest projector from the company until now. Apart from the 4K resolution, LG provides HDR video support with HDR10. LG says the HU80KA projector will work well regardless of where and how you put it in the room. The projector's portability and upright design have been attributed to the mirrorless L-shaped engine which allows the projector to be positioned on the floor, mounted to the wall, or hung from the ceiling.

The LG HU80KA projector can play media via a USB drive, that also enables users to connect an external keyboard and mouse. When it comes to sound, LG has placed two 7-watt speakers in the projector but it can be connected to external speakers or soundbars. Other audio output options include optical, HDMI, and Bluetooth.

The LG 4K UHD projector runs webOS which means that most of the big streaming apps will be integrated out of the box. LG has not revealed the price and availability details regarding the HU80KA projector as of now. LG will put the whole 2018 projector series on display at the Consumer Electronics Show to be held in Las Vegas. LG will also showcase the latest version of its portable MiniBeam Projector (model PF50K), featuring webOS 3.5 and Full HD resolution.

      It is unprofessional on part of LG TV that they do not resolve the basic issue of adding app gCmob in their app store.
      My 50UT80506LA LG WebOs TV does not support my office security camera system via wifi to TV.  We need (gCmob app) in list of app.
      I can't connect my office camera via Wi-Fi to LG-TV. No body in LG TV technical team is proactive in resolving the issue of customer. They are more happy to befool the customers, rather than looking for technical solution through wider thinking.
      Please talk to you top management and make a visit to our office to understand the customers plight..
      Please respond to customers needs.

      Hello,
      I have a LG C4 OLED 77 inch TV and my GeForce NOW Premium subscription allows up to 2K resolution and I can set 2K on my Android and Windows devices but I can't set it on the TV which allows only 1080p (or 4K for ultimate subscription which I don't have). It would be nice to have that option because it greatly improves the image quality.
      Best regards,
      wido

      Hi,
      does AirPlay work on your LG projector? I can't get my PF510Q to show up in the Screen Sharing AirPlay menu on my iPhone.
      Both the iPhone and the projector are connected to the same WiFi router (both wirelessly, no Ethernet). I tried enabling and disabling IPv6, restarting the router, iPhone and the projector, but still nothing showed up.
      Then I connected my MacBook to the same WiFi network and enabled AirPlay Receiver on the MacBook. The iPhone could immediately see the MacBook and stream to it, so it looks like the problem is in the projector.
      I should add that the WiFi router isn't connected to the internet, but there is no reason why AirPlay would need internet connection. After all, I was able to connect my iPhone to my MacBook via AirPlay without internet connection.
      Thanks for your insights!

      For native app developers, it would be great to see support for Vulkan graphics API. The requisite parts are already present, including the Mali GPU driver.
      However, the Vulkan ICD file is corrupt on my my TV (webOS 24):
      Here is the file:
      {
      "/bsppartICD"/bsppart: {
      "/bsppartapi_version"/bsppart: "/bsppart1.3.216"/bsppart,
      "/bsppartlibrary_path"/bsppart: "/bsppartlibmali.so"/bsppart
      },
      "/bsppartfile_format_version"/bsppart: "/bsppart1.0.0"/bsppart
      }
      It should be:
      {
      "ICD": {
      "api_version": "1.3.216",
      "library_path": "libmali.so"
      },
      "file_format_version": "1.0.0"
      }
      It would also need the Vulkan Wayland extension.
      This would allow for some newer and better performant applications to run on webOS.
