I have a generic NAS server based on Linux with a lot of music, videos and pic on it - what app do I use to connect to my LG TV (43UJ635 purchased Nov 2017)? I cannot find a suitable app on WebOS screens

You need some DLNA server running at your NAS. For example, Plex, Twonky, Serviio. You may use the WebOS built-in DLNA player, or you may install a third-party app from LG store.

I personally prefer Plex server with XPlay application.
