LG televisions are getting a new feature – and Sky is to thank

LG OLED TV

Good news, LG TV owners – your televisions are about to get a great upgrade, thanks to the addition of the Sky Store.

In what LG is describing as an “exclusive” win, the LG webOS television platform will now give users access to the Sky Store TV app. It’s not strictly an exclusive as Roku set-top boxes already offer access to the Sky Store, but this appears to be the first time a TV’s built-in operating system supports the app.

“We’re delighted to again partner with Sky to bring its latest movie content to our Smart TV platform,” said Darren Petersen, Head of Partnerships for LG, in a statement sent to Trusted Reviews.

He continued: “The Sky Store service offers our users even more choice when deciding what entertainment to enjoy on our award-winning TVs and an unrivalled selection of the latest movies, giving yet another reason for potential new customers to select an LG TV.”

The Sky Store will give users access to new movies added each week, with Sky noting Beauty and the Beast, Kong: Skull Island and Logan as recent additions to the service. You can buy or rent the latest movies, and when you buy one, you’ll get the digital HD copy plus the DVD in the post.

The Sky Store will be available for users in the UK and Ireland on every LG television running on webOS versions 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. This includes LG’s latest 2017 line-up of OLED televisions too.

Speaking about the announcement, James Morton, Sky’s Head of Strategy, said: “Sky Store continues to be a huge hit and as the UK’s regular number one digital retailer for new movie releases, it is fantastic we can offer LG Smart TV customers blockbuster movies straight to their big screen at home.”

It is unprofessional on part of LG TV that they do not resolve the basic issue of adding app gCmob in their app store.
My 50UT80506LA LG WebOs TV does not support my office security camera system via wifi to TV.  We need (gCmob app) in list of app.
I can't connect my office camera via Wi-Fi to LG-TV. No body in LG TV technical team is proactive in resolving the issue of customer. They are more happy to befool the customers, rather than looking for technical solution through wider thinking.
Please talk to you top management and make a visit to our office to understand the customers plight..
      Please respond to customers needs.

Since my lg-oled65c9pla auto-updated to WebOS 5.5, there is a new bug.
The TV is connected to my Cambridge Audio Evo 75 amplifier over ARC - on powering the TV, it has always started up the amp, and switched it to use audio, instead of the appalling TV speakers. The whole setup has worked flawlessly for 5 years, but since WebOS 5.5, the amplifier starts, but is left in a muted state, and using the un-mute or volume controls on the TV remote makes no difference to turning on audio. The only way to get audio to play though my amp a speakers is to turn the amp's volume dial or press a volume button on the a amp's remote - this then unmutes the TV and audio is back.
There is no setting I can find in the TV that relates to whether the ARC channel starts muted or not...
No software has changed in my amp.  This is an annoying new bug in the TV software, I assume down to some CEC changes.

PS everything is fine if i upload 4k25p or 4k30p
PSS it's a problem only on webOS - on PC or android everything is OK.
