As we celebrate LG’s 35-year journey in Indonesia, I am filled with both gratitude and optimism for what lies ahead. Our presence in this vibrant nation has been more than a business story – it has been a partnership built on shared growth, innovation and resilience.
Aligning With Indonesia’s Industrial Vision for Sustainable Growth
Indonesia’s manufacturing sector continues to be a vital driver of national progress, contributing between 17 and 20 percent of the country’s GDP and employing more than 20 percent of the workforce. The Industrial Services Roadmap 2025–2045 sets out a bold vision to expand industry, create future-ready jobs and integrate technology with sustainability – an ambition that closely aligns with LG’s own values and long-term direction.
Vice Minister of Industry Mr. Faisol Riza highlighted that in 2024, Indonesia’s Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) reached USD 265.07 billion (Rp 4,349 trillion), ranking 13th globally and first in Southeast Asia. This strong performance reflects the growing competitiveness of Indonesia’s industrial base and its crucial role in ensuring economic resilience.
Further underscoring this momentum, the Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) for September 2025 stood at 53.02, signaling continued expansion across 21 of 23 manufacturing subsectors, which together account for nearly 98 percent of non-oil and gas manufacturing GDP. Optimism about the coming months remains high – driven by confidence in policy direction, innovation and industrial strength.
Over Three Decades of Milestones: Building a Fully Integrated Operation

Today, our locally self-sufficient operation – spanning R&D, manufacturing, marketing and customer care – empowers more than 4,000 local talents and supports national priorities such as Making Indonesia 4.0 and the Industrial Services Roadmap. Together, we are driving continuous innovation, operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Beyond Business: Empowering Communities and Driving Inclusive Growth
Our commitment to Indonesia goes well beyond business. Through our CSR platform, LG Loves Indonesia, we focus on sustainability, education and community well-being to create meaningful and lasting impact.
Under LG Loves Green, we promote energy-efficient living and environmental responsibility – planting 32,000 trees and supporting recycling initiatives for fabric, food waste and e-waste to raise public and youth awareness.
LG Loves Children enhances early childhood literacy in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Culture, publishing and distributing two series of LG Children’s Books nationwide. We also established three libraries in low-literacy regions, each offering more than 350 curated titles to inspire learning.
Through LG Loves School, we help vocational students build practical skills for future careers by upgrading school labs with LG products and training tools.
Meanwhile, LG Loves and Cares supports local communities through initiatives like Lebaran Sehat, which provides food packages during festive seasons, as well as product donations that improve daily living standards.
Each of these initiatives reflects our belief that true progress must be inclusive – empowering individuals and uplifting communities across Indonesia.

As global environmental regulations tighten across the EU and beyond, industries worldwide are under growing pressure to eliminate harmful substances and adopt more sustainable practices. The automotive sector, in particular, is at the forefront of this shift, with automakers expected to lead the charge in meeting rising sustainability and compliance demands.
To stay ahead of these evolving challenges, LG is enhancing its end-to-end support system by working closely with customers and suppliers to foster a more resilient, eco-conscious automotive supply chain.
At the core of these efforts is LG’s Vehicle Solution Material Data System (VSMDS), launched in 2022. This in-house platform was developed to help automakers efficiently meet global environmental standards by providing an advanced, intelligent solution for managing material data used in automotive component development and production.
While the International Material Data System (IMDS) remains the industry’s mandated tool for tracking material content, LG’s VSMDS complements it by providing a more intuitive and insight-driven interface. The platform simplifies regulatory complexity, clarifies exemptions and delivers actionable insights – enabling deeper material analysis beyond what IMDS alone can offer.
A recent and compelling example of VSMDS in action is LG’s proactive preparation for the EU’s proposed ban on PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), expected to take effect in 2030. Leveraging VSMDS, LG and its suppliers can precisely assess PFAS content in materials, identify affected components and take early corrective measures. This capability not only supports timely regulatory compliance but also helps prevent potential environmental and safety incidents.
Beyond internal tools, the LG Vehicle Solution (VS) Company is actively empowering its supplier network to adapt to changing regulatory landscapes. Since 2022, LG’s dedicated VS Environment Analysis team has provided regular training sessions, expert consulting and updated guidance on country-specific regulations and global automaker policies. To date, more than 300 supplier employees have participated in these programs, equipping them with the knowledge needed to stay compliant and competitive.
LG is also contributing as a demand-side partner in a government-led R&D project, led by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH). This initiative aims to develop a carbon management platform that helps suppliers accurately track emissions and formulate reduction plans, in line with both government mandates and OEM requirements.
These wide-ranging efforts have earned LG industry recognition. The company was nominated as “2025 Leading Company in Global Environmental Compliance” and received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award for its proactive leadership in environmental stewardship.
By leading through collaboration with customers and partners, LG is not only meeting strict regulations but also designing the blueprint for a stronger, more sustainable automotive supply chain and a cleaner, more resilient mobility ecosystem.

For instance, we recently helped a global hotel chain overcome challenges by delivering a unified system that combined LG HVAC, information displays and commercial TVs — enhancing both guest experience and operational efficiency.
2. Global Orchestration
While our headquarters drives global consistency and quality, our field teams are empowered to adapt solutions locally. This balance helps maintain relevance in every market we serve. We also invest significantly in ecosystem partnerships and talent development. A prime example is the LG HVAC Academy, which trains over 30,000 professionals annually in 84 locations worldwide. These experts play a crucial role in delivering high-performance, localized solutions and enhancing after-sales support.
3. From Seller to Strategic Partner
Our B2B sales function is evolving into a project-based organization that manages the full customer journey — from early opportunity discovery and solution planning to delivery and ongoing support.
This is the core of our B2B strategy: to become a true strategic partner who grows alongside our customers. Our recent MOU with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Bawani Group to deliver smart home and smart city solutions exemplifies this vision in action. We’re also deepening our presence in North America, Australia and Europe.
