Setup

  • TV: LG 55UP77 (UP7750)

  • Soundbar: LG SC9S (purchased ~1 month ago)

  • Connection: HDMI eARC using the original high-speed cable that shipped with the soundbar

  • Firmware: Both TV and soundbar are fully updated (checked again today)

Issue
Whenever I start any video—whether it’s streaming apps, HDMI input, or a USB movie—the SC9S plays for a minute or two, then suddenly loses connection. Audio instantly falls back to the TV’s internal speakers, and the TV acts like the soundbar no longer exists on the eARC port. The soundbar display still shows “eARC” (sometimes flips to “OPT/ARC” for a second), but no sound.

Temporary Fix
The only thing that gets audio back is power-cycling the TV (standby isn’t enough; full reboot required). After that, the bar reconnects… until the next random dropout. This can happen multiple times during a single movie, which is a great way to kill the vibe.

What I’ve Tried

  1. New HDMI 2.1-certified cable (same result, so original cable seems fine).

  2. Disabled Quick Start+ and Simplink in the TV settings, then re-enabled.

  3. Factory-reset both TV and soundbar.

  4. Tested ARC instead of eARC—works, but no Atmos and same occasional dropout.

  5. Plugged the soundbar into a different power outlet (in case of power spike).

Observed Patterns

  • Dropouts happen sooner with Dolby Atmos or DTS content, but even stereo YouTube videos eventually cut out.

  • No obvious heat buildup; bar is in open air, front facing.

  • Happens whether soundbar is wall-mounted or on its stand.

Questions for the Hive Mind

  1. Anyone else seeing eARC instability with the SC9S on the UP77 series?

  2. Could this be a handshake timing bug on the TV’s HDMI board?

  3. Any hidden service-menu tweaks or firmware betas worth trying?

  4. Should I just RMA the bar, or is the TV the real diva here?

Appreciate any insight—my couch and I thank you in advance!

Update:
Still haven’t found a permanent fix. What I’m doing for now is just toggling eARC off → on in the TV’s settings whenever the issue pops up. Once I do that, the soundbar stays stable and I’m not getting random HDMI drops anymore. Not ideal, but it beats power-cycling the TV every time.

Since my lg-oled65c9pla auto-updated to WebOS 5.5, there is a new bug.
The TV is connected to my Cambridge Audio Evo 75 amplifier over ARC - on powering the TV, it has always started up the amp, and switched it to use audio, instead of the appalling TV speakers. The whole setup has worked flawlessly for 5 years, but since WebOS 5.5, the amplifier starts, but is left in a muted state, and using the un-mute or volume controls on the TV remote makes no difference to turning on audio. The only way to get audio to play though my amp a speakers is to turn the amp's volume dial or press a volume button on the a amp's remote - this then unmutes the TV and audio is back.
There is no setting I can find in the TV that relates to whether the ARC channel starts muted or not...
No software has changed in my amp.  This is an annoying new bug in the TV software, I assume down to some CEC changes.

I have a LG 65QNED92AUA tv that has issues with the Bluetooth connection dropping off when connected to my earbuds. I believe the issue to be software related. LG has sent 2 technicians out to repair and the first technician changed the main board and Bluetooth transmitter which did not resolve the issue.
There are similar issues with Bluetooth Connection from others.
Since hardware replacement didn’t help and this is a known software-pattern issue, I would like push LG to specifically address it at the firmware/webOS level. I am unable to escalate to their software team and check if there’s a known patch or beta firmware for the QNED92 line.
For some reason this line of questioning is not available with in LG customer service.
       Please help!

      Hi LG team,

We are facing playback issues on LG 2024 and 2025 tv models when we try to play AAC audio content. The content starts playing but after a few seconds it pauses. We have tried with WebOS native player as well as Shaka Player and the behavior is same. We can play the aac audio content on tv models older than 2024.
      Tv model used:
      LG -2025
      Model no - 43UA83006LA/2025
      Type- ultra HD/4kTv
      LG webOS- (10.3.1)
