PreCentral: Set an Alarm

Recommended Posts

Set AlarmIf you need to set an alarm on your smartphone, there are quite a few ways to accomplish this task.  You can create a

at the time you need the alarm to go off, you can use third party apps like , or you can just use the built-in functionality on webOS to create an alarm through the Clock app.  While this is available on both webOS phones and the TouchPad, the steps are slightly different between the two types of hardware. But overall, the process is relatively the same.  To set an alarm on your device:

  1. Open the "Clock" app on the device.
  2. Tap the Alarm icon icon on the bottom of the screen to switch to alarm view. On phones, you may need to tap the screen one time for this to become visible
  3. Type the "New Alarm" button on the TouchPad or the + button on the bottom-left of the screen on phones to view the "Alarm Preferences" screen to create a new alarm
  4. Edit the alarm details, including the alarm name, frequency, time, and ringtone sound, as well indicating if you want this alarm to be enabled by default. If you select Enabled = OFF, it will still create the alarm but you will need to turn it on in the future.
  5. Once done, tap the "Done" button on the TouchPad or on phones to save the alarm

Your alarm will be added to a listing of available alarms. If this if your first time creating an alarm, it will obviously be the only one there. But you can add multiple alarms and then flip the ON/OFF switch as necessary to activate or deactivate it or tap on any alarm to edit it. If you want to delete the alarm, simple the alarm and then confirm the deletion.

Be aware that the alarm will use the volume setting in the Sound & Ringtones app. So, be sure to set the volume at an appropriate level to ensure you hear the alarm when it goes off. There is also a setting available in the Clock app that will allow you to either use or bypass mute switch on phones or the mute option on the TouchPad, so the alarm will still sound even if the system sounds are muted.  To access this setting, from the top-left of the screen while in the Clock app and choose "Preferences" from the dropdown menu. Be sure that the "Ringer switch off" option on phones or the "When Sounds is Muted" option on the TouchPad is set how you want it.

Asking this hear, since I could not seem to find a better place... Wake on LAN only works for a few minutes after TV is turned off?  If I turn of LG TV (WebOS 8.x) and then send a Wake on LAN (WoL) packet, it works.  If turn off the LG TV, then I wait about 15 minutes or so, then send the same WoL sequence, using the same code, script, etc., it fails, the LG TV never turns on.  THe LG TV is configured both for wired ethernet (preferred) and WiFi.  Any idea why this behavior?  It almost seems like the LG TV goes into standby, via phone app, remote, even CEC, etc., then drops from the network?  Mobile is enabled on the TV, hence the phone app works.  Why would the LG TV stop responding to WoL packets?

Brand new LG TV (WebOS 8x) WILL NOT stay off when turned off with the remote?  Out of the box, connected to internet, seems to have been updated, and working fine.  But when I hit the power off with the remote, the TV reports 'Life is Good' seems to turn off, i.e. go into standby, and then a few seconds later, turns back on.  If the device connected to the TV on the last active HDMI port is OFF, I get the No Signal warning.  So I know the active HDMI input is not generating any signal.  I want to believe that any other device on any other HDMI port might be an issue? But then the TV would switch to that HDMI port, no?  This is really an issue!  If I use the phone app I can turn off the TV and it seems to stay off, at least does not come back on in a few seconds like the remote?  If I send 'standby' via HDMI-CEC, that seems to work as well, the TV seems to stay in standby mode.  This a bug?

So LG has put webOS on TVs, projectors, and now cars with webos auto. Does anyone thing LG will ever produce a webos powered smartphone or tablet? I know samsung has tried with tizen and it was only with the palm pre 2 and touchpad from HP that we saw webos on these types of devices. Just curious on what everyone thingks. Here's what webos used to look like..

      Hi,
      New user on here.
I bought this new TV last week and it is honestly driving me bananas.
When I click "Home" after using an App, etc, it brings me to the WebOS interface but then automatically selects the last used device (e.g. Fire stick, LG Channels, etc) despite me not wanting it to.
Is it possible to disable this, i.e. "Home" brings me to WebOS and stays there? I'm sure its a setting etc which I'm missing.
Device is LG UQ91 43 inch 4K Smart UHD TV, pretty sure its all up to date.
      Thanks in advance.
