HP's Bill Veghte bumped to COO, holds on to CSO role

Four months ago, HP's Executive Vice President of Software took on a new role at the Silicon Valley giant: . That man was Bill Veghte, and today he's taking another step up the corporate ladder. Veghte is shedding the EVP title and moving into the newly-created Chief Operating Officer position at HP, reporting directly to . Taking over Veghte's old HP Software job will be HP newcomer George Kadifa. He comes from multi-billion-dollar technology investment firm Silver Lake, previously having held executive positions at IBM and Cisco.

The COO role is a new one for HP, providing further evidence of Whtiman's consolidation and reorganization of the company. According to HP's press release on the matter, COO Veghte "will help further accelerate the execution of the company’s strategy by working across HP to drive innovation and customer satisfaction" and will "work closely with Whitman as well as his peers on HP’s executive council to support key projects affecting the company’s operational success." In essence, it's going to be his job to make sure things happen, much like it was 's job to make things happen in Cupertino when he was Apple's COO.

What does this mean for webOS? We're not certain. Back when Veghte was announced as the Chief Strategy Officer, HP moved webOS under his domain. The webOS group had previously been under , with the CSO position kind-of-sort-of replacing that role. Veghte will still be the CSO in addition to the new COO, giving him a lot of responsibility at HP, but presumably also a lot of pull. Though , we can't imagine he'll have a lot of time to devote to guiding .

Update: We've confirmed with HP that Veghte will continue to directly oversee the webOS group even with his new position. So breath a sigh of relief, we don't have to learn a new name this week. So far.

After updating to the latest web browser with new user interface on LG C9, subtitles on all streaming websites disappears every 2-3mins.
Video continues to play without subs. The subtitles will re-appear if I move the magic remote but disappears again after 3mins.
Should be a widespread issue as it's also happening on Youtube.com videos with subs. Un-related but Play/Stop button on magic remote also stop working on the new browser.

We have two LG OLED TVs. WebOS appears differently on each. And we are able to download the Paramount+ app on one TV, but not on the other.
OLED65C7P (older) running software version 6.00.25
      WebOS TV Version 3.9.0-62709
Does not allow the Paramount+ app to be installed
OLED65C9PUA (newer) running software version 5.10.25
      WebOS TV Version 4.9.3-5340808
Allows the Paramount+ app to be installed
How can we get WebOS to appear the same on both TVs?

      State-of-the-Art Driving Assistance System Leverages
AI and Deep Learning to Help Respond Faster, Smarter

SEOUL, Oct. 6, 2021 — LG Electronics (LG) announced that its innovative Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) camera module is available in the new 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class now rolling out in markets around the world. LG’s ADAS leverages the latest in automotive technology and works in tandem with Mercedes-Benz AG’s precise engineering to keep the driver and passengers of the new C-Class safer.
LG’s sophisticated ADAS supports a variety of essential safety-oriented functions including Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Intelligent Head-Light Control (IHC) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to not only ensure the safety of the vehicle’s occupants but other motorists and pedestrians as well. A number of features supported by LG’s ADAS system such as AEB and LDW will be mandatory for new vehicles in many countries by 2022.
The LG-designed ADAS system reflects the company’s many years of leadership in mobile communications, image recognition and connectivity. Advanced AI and deep learning, both key to LG’s business strategy, enable the camera to collect and process various traffic information to help drivers respond to road and traffic conditions in real-time. The system accurately recognizes surrounding environments, constantly analyzing the vehicle’s position relative to both moving and stationary objects and automatically applies the brakes if a collision is imminent. Data from the camera also enables the system to alert drivers if they inadvertently stray into the next lane or get too close to the vehicle in front.
LG’s fast-growing Vehicle component Solutions (VS) Company counts a number of global auto brands including Mercedes-Benz, Ford and Cadillac as . Its joint venture LG Magna e-Powertrain manufactures e-motors, inverters, on-board chargers and e-drive systems for the EV market.
