Appears that my main audio amp has failed, no audio from TV speakers. The pre-amp is okay since I plugged in sound bars, wireless headsets, and optical connection all ok. The repair would cost around $300 so I decided it was cheaper to buy a soundbar. Anyone else experience this problem, ie no sound from the TV speaker?

Just buy a cheap chromecast or similar android device and plug it in to the HDMI socket and you can then have all the apps you need. -
Uninstall then reinstall the Amazon Prime app

Your router most likely provides a 2G and 5G frequencies/connections, you are probably trying to connect to 5G, so try connecting to 2G.
