version 3.21.30 worst WebOS ever?

Recommended Posts

Does LG hire real software engineers with actual computer science degrees?  Or do they just piggyback on software engineers that build webOS for free?

My LG 77" OLED C2 is far from "smart" ... after a long online chat with LG tech support because my TV decided it would connect my Bose Q45 Bluetooth headphone then immediately disconnect.  After hours of removing the device in the Bluetooth list, pairing the Bose headphones again, still same problem.  Keep in mind my headphones were working fine 1 day ago.

So the end result was:

1.  Disable Quick Start (from settings)

2. Turn off TV

3. Disconnect the main power from source outlet

4. Hold down the power button under the little red light ... wait 30 seconds

5. Plug the TV back in and power on using the button under the red light.

6. Connect my Bose Q45 headphones

If this weren't a waste of 1-2 hours of time it would be comical.  I've had this problem 3 times since I bought the TV 2 months ago.  I've gone thru 3 WebOS updates and each one seems to get worse and worse.

If the software engineers at LG don't know what they're doing, then please STOP.  Just banging out garbage untested code so you get paid isn't good for LG.  This Bluetooth problem is well documented across the internet and LG is just making the problem worse.

Connect then immediate Disconnect of a Bluetooth device sounds exactly like the code didn't capture the devices UUID.  I don't know what approach the LG software engineers are using but if it's this method:

or they might want to use Sweet Blue  .  Your software seems to be processing the same UUID twice (sounds like basic loop logic problem as you cycle found devices).  Did any of the LG development team actually test multiple Bluetooth devices?

Either way LG, hire some quality software engineers that know what they're doing or pay for a quality assurance group to unit test.  And yes, I'm a software engineer with over 35 years of experience.

I have a mediaplayer connected to my TV OLED55C6V through HDMI. For every video playback the player tries to select an output HDMI signal format automatically depending on both video framerate/resolution and framerate/resolution supported by the connected TV to show the video as close to original as possible with the TV without any scaling. And here I have a problem: the maximum resolution the player selects is 1080p despite of the videofile has resolution 4k and the TV supports playback of the input signal up to 4K60p. I can change the output signal resolution on the player manually after blayback starting and it works, but it's not convenient. As far as I know the only way of getting information about videosignal format supported by TV for the player is EDID on HDMI channel. So is it possible to fix the issue? Maybe some hidden setting in TV could change the version of EDID?

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

Hey everyone, I've been using my LG WebOS TV for some time now, and there's a small but impactful change I'd love to see. Currently, when the TV is turned on without an HDMI input, it defaults to displaying a wallpaper. It's not aesthetically pleasing, it's a bit of an inconvenience for users like me who primarily use the TV's smart features. My suggestion is to include an option that allows the TV to boot directly into the Home screen, displaying all the available apps and streaming options right away. This would streamline the user experience, making it faster and easier to access the services we use most.Would love to hear the community's thoughts on this. Cheers!
