LG and Altair Jointly Develop Data Analytics Algorithm
for Simulating Vehicle Components’ Performance and Reliability

AI-Validation-Platform-01.jpeg

SEOUL, Nov. 9, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) in collaboration with Altair, a global provider of computational science and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, have jointly developed an AI validation platform that delivers enhanced reliability verification for vehicle components. Integrating this digital transformation technology into the development process allows LG to provide global automakers with advanced infotainment solutions of the highest quality and reliability.

Until now, the process used for developing advanced vehicle components has relied entirely on physical testing and all test results have been manually validated. LG’s recent digitalization of testing and verification will provide gains not only in regard to cost- and time-efficiency, but also in terms of data- and product-reliability.

Able to accurately predict and measure product performance from the earliest stages of the design validation process, the new platform leverages a machine learning algorithm to perform time series analysis, data analysis visualization and various other functions that further enhance LG’s already-stringent component verification system.

The detailed reports produced by LG’s new AI validation platform cover vehicle component development testing and support for automatic data transition, and will enable the company to assess the quality of yet-to-be-commercialized products with a far higher degree of precision. Through continued, close cooperation between LG and Altair, the advanced platform is expected to secure a product reliability rate of 90 percent or higher.

Boosting efficiency in key areas, the new platform is capable of conducting multiple tests, analyzing the results of those tests and providing an array of meaningful performance indicators. Moving forward, LG will expand the implementation of AI technology across various processes, from product planning to mass production.

“LG is committed to the digital transformation of its global operations and to using the latest DX technologies to enhance its research and development capabilities and achieve optimal resource management,” said Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle component Solutions (VS) Company. “Our new AI verification platform is a meaningful digitalization case for the automotive parts business, where reliability is of the highest importance.”

Inside a vast, 225-square-meter exhibition booth, the company is showcasing its latest AI-enhanced digital display solutions for B2B environments, including retail, corporate and education.
Among the highlights of LG’s InfoComm 2024 exhibit is a next-generation Micro LED display which is being unveiled to the public for the first time. Scheduled to launch by the end of this year, the newly-announced model employs AI technology to enhance picture quality and all-around performance.
LG’s Micro LED display utilizes tiny LED chips, measuring approximately 16 micrometers wide by 27 micrometers long – to deliver high contrast, bold colors and exceptional detail. The company’s sophisticated AI technology is used to produce and precisely evaluate the chips, 25 million of which are integrated into the 136-inch model. Additionally, the display itself leverages LG’s AI processor to analyze the brightness and tone of the LED chips in real time, automatically calibrating them to achieve the best picture quality possible.

Also on show is an advanced AI advertising solution, presented by LG in collaboration with its partners, which can display ads tailored to various audiences.
Furthermore, the LG booth features a comprehensive lineup of display solutions optimized for corporate environments. These include the LG MAGNIT, which now features a 144Hz variable refresh rate (VRR). Courtesy of this new upgrade, users can enjoy high-quality video content without the distraction of screen-tearing or stuttering. As certified by TÜV Rheinland, the LG MAGNIT delivers excellent low-grayscale performance, boasting outstanding image clarity and enabling users to see more vividly what’s happening during the darkest scenes. The display is also certified for color consistency over a wide viewing angle.
LG MAGNIT also has earned certifications regarding product- and user-safety in the installation environment. LG’s display complies with the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) regulatory standards for electromagnetic compatibility and has earned a Class-1 rating in the British Standards Institution (BSI) Surface Spread of Flame Test (BS476 Part7). It also comes with Eye Comfort certification from TÜV Rheinland for its low blue-light emissions.

With its sleek, user-friendly design, the display has received prestigious industrial design accolades, such as a 2024 Red Dot Design Award and a 2024 iF Design Award.
Other impressive products presented by LG at this year’s InfoComm include 171-inch LED signage and 105-inch digital signage display featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio. Suitable for video conference calls, the super-sized screens enable users to display multiple pieces of visual information simultaneously, making it possible to share a wealth of data or video feeds from a large number of conference participants. Additional displays include LG CreateBoard, a digital whiteboard that promotes interactive learning and collaboration in both classrooms and workplaces. Google Mobile Services-certified, LG CreateBoard enables users to seamlessly integrate with the Google ecosystem by connecting their Google accounts.
Visitors can also see LG’s solutions for the digitalized retail environment, including digital menu boards and standing displays designed for drive-through restaurants and stores. The company’s solutions provide excellent visibility outdoors thanks to their high-brightness displays, and increased durability due to the implementation of technology that protects against screen-yellowing from prolonged exposure to sunlight.

American Street Artist and Social Activist, Shepard Fairey Chooses LG OLED as His
      Digital Canvas at Frieze LA

SEOUL, Mar. 1, 2024 — At Frieze Los Angeles 2024, LG OLED is joining forces with Shepard Fairey, the acclaimed contemporary street artist, social activist and founder of OBEY street wear, to bring street art into the realm of transformative digital expression. LG OLED, the ultimate digital canvas, is interwoven with Shephard’s physical works and the exhibition space itself to deliver a compelling sensory experience at LA’s annual art extravaganza.
Themed Peace and Justice, the exhibition features a selection of Shepard Fairey’s instantly-recognizable work; hand-picked by the artist himself and drawing attention to some of the most pressing issues facing society today. Fairey blurs the boundary between traditional and commercial art, employing type and image to create vibrant pieces that offer bold, memorable visuals and thoughtful social critique.
Although street art is, by its nature, an outdoor art form, Shepard is unafraid to embrace the digital medium, deftly uniting physical and virtual elements to add a new dimension to his artistic practice. Through the collection Peace and Justice, with support from LG OLED, the exhibition space at Frieze LA becomes an extension of Shepard’s distinctive art, delivering his unique creative vision in an innovative and highly original way.
Reimagined for Frieze LA, the artist’s captivating Damaged Wrong Path Mural combines several iconic pieces from the artist’s well-received solo show, Damaged (2017). The clever deployment of LG OLED TVs brings fresh energy and a new dynamic to the large, complex piece.
Leveraging the image accuracy made possible by LG OLED’s pixel-level control, Shepard amplifies the impact of this visually striking mural while imbuing it with a ‘newness’ that may surprise those familiar with the work. Shepard and LG OLED’s exclusive exploration of digital art also serves as a masterclass in the harmonious fusion of art and technology.
“Art is about so much more than aesthetics; it should spur challenging conversations, broach meaningful topics and push us to feel uncomfortable emotions,” said Shepard Fairey. “The works included in my collaboration with LG OLED were chosen with these things in mind, and to demonstrate to audiences that the combining of art and technology can drive artistic practice and expression into new and rewarding territory.”
“LG OLED is delighted to join with Shepard Fairey to push artistic boundaries and engage and inspire visitors at Frieze LA,” said Kate Oh, vice president of the Brand Communication Division at the LG Home Entertainment Company. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to the arts and will continue to support artists who share our passion for innovation and for making a positive difference.”
LG OLED is dedicated to introducing more people to the exciting, always-evolving world of digital art. Through its LG OLED ART initiatives, the LG OLED brand continues to celebrate the fusion of art and technology, and connect with art enthusiasts from all around the globe.
