Every year, Design Week Mexico brings together top architects and interior designers to reimagine one of the country’s historic homes into the “Design House” – turning staid spaces into stunning showcases of sophistication and style. For 2025, both we (LG) and our ultra-premium built-in kitchen appliance brand, SKS, were named the exclusive home appliance brand partners for this landmark exhibition.
Under the theme of “Korean Precision with Mexican Soul,” we presented an elegant, real-world demonstration of how the warmth of Mexican craftsmanship can harmonize with our stylish, technology-driven solutions. Each space reflected our belief that thoughtful innovation can elevate modern design and meaningfully enhance how people live.
A Journey Where Design Meets Technology
Design House lies at the heart of Design Week Mexico, uniting creative talent to reinterpret everyday spaces. This year, we collaborated with four celebrated Mexican designers – Sebastián Ángeles, Guillermo Hernández, Juan José Nemer and Victoria Plascencia – to reimagine a traditional home through fresh artistic expression and future-ready livability.
Each finished room told its own compelling story with the common thread of “design meeting technology” woven throughout the entire house, and the sublime blend of Mexico’s rich cultural heritage and LG’s cutting-edge innovation visible in every space.
Reinterpreting the Bathroom: Ancient Rituals Meet Modern Wellness
Designer

His immersive installation blended light, sound and scent to evoke a sense of renewal. At the center stood LG Styler, symbolizing purification while adding contemporary sophistication to the space. “LG Styler is an innovative object that lets people refresh their clothes and feelings without any worries about odors or allergens,” said Ángeles.
The result was a seamless balance of pre-Hispanic aesthetics and futuristic minimalism, reshaping the bathroom into a personal sanctuary where wellness and premium design coexist.
Redefining Everyday Chores: The Laundry Room as a Space of Joy
With his signature mosaic craftsmanship, reimagined the laundry room as an uplifting, design-driven environment. His reinterpretation encouraged visitors to reconsider laundry as not just a task, but a space that can spark delight.
At the center of the concept was the LG WashTower, whose unified washer-dryer configuration saves space while delivering intuitive convenience. “The LG WashTower served as the centerpiece, helping to turn what is so often a neglected corner of the home into an uplifting place that people genuinely enjoy spending time in,” Hernández noted.
Through refined geometric inspiration and a calming color palette, the once-ordinary laundry area became a modern, functional and aesthetically enriched space. At the same time, the WashTower features an all-in-one configuration combining a washer and dryer stacked together, efficiently saving space for practical use.
Connecting Tradition and Modernity: The Kitchen as the Heart of the Home
Under the direction of Juan José Nemer, the kitchen served as an inspired bridge between Mexico’s heritage and the vibrancy of its contemporary lifestyle. Drawing on the concept of Casa Piedra, the space merged future-focused technology with a rich sense of nostalgia, creating an ideal environment for warm family moments and entertaining guests.
SKS built-in appliances, including the latest refrigerator and oven, feature minimalist exterior panels and refined finishes that contribute to a seamless and elevated kitchen interior. Its captivating design inspired the aesthetics of the whole kitchen space, inviting visitors to see, touch and interact with the SKS products in person.
“Frequently, there’s a moment of surprise when you open the door of an SKS product, as people often don’t realize they’ve been looking straight at an appliance the whole time,” said Nemer, noting the subtlety of SKS’s design, and the seamlessness with which each appliance blends in with the rest of the kitchen.
A Place to Connect: SKS “Aura Space” on the Terrace
On the Design House terrace, Victoria Plascencia’s Aura Space offered a serene setting for gatherings, reflecting the growing importance of outdoor areas as natural extensions of the home. Equipped with the SKS wine cellar and SKS dishwasher, the terrace demonstrated how performance and aesthetics can coexist beautifully.
The SKS wine cellar, capable of storing up to 113 bottles across three temperature zones, allowed Aura Space guests to enjoy premium wine and a memorable lifestyle experience, while the SKS dishwasher delivered optimal cleaning performance adapted to local water conditions – all within a sleek, minimalist design that added to the space’s ambiance and appeal.
Through this collaboration with Mexico’s design community, we reaffirmed our role as a lifestyle trend leader and our commitment to delivering solutions for a Better Life for All. LG and SKS home appliances stand not only as high-performance tools, but as design-forward companions that enrich everyday living and seamlessly complement modern spaces.

New Partner-Operated Plant Highlights Company’s Strategic
Commitment to Emerging Markets
JAKARTA, Oct. 23, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) has invested in a partner-operated production facility in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia, dedicated exclusively to manufacturing LG air conditioners. As part of the company’s strategic efforts to reinforce its Global South strategy, the new facility will enhance LG’s presence in Indonesia, help strengthen its supply chain and serve as a hub for air conditioning innovation.
Coinciding with LG’s 35th anniversary in Indonesia, the Bekasi facility spans 32,000 square meters and commenced operation last month, starting with residential air conditioner production. In its first year, the factory is expected to produce approximately 700,000 indoor and outdoor units, with plans to double capacity in the near future.
All products manufactured at the facility will adhere to LG’s stringent global quality standards and embody the exceptional energy efficiency for which the company is renowned. Implementation of LG’s Korean Quality Control system – applied at all LG production sites globally – will support consistent performance and long-lasting reliability.
The facility also supports the Indonesian government’s initiative to harmonize Minimum Energy Performance Standards with those of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Furthermore, LG’s residential solutions employ R32 refrigerant,1 underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Building on LG’s advanced technologies with localized production systems, the partner-operated plant is designed to deliver solutions optimized for the Indonesian market. In line with government policy on Domestic Component Level (TDKN2), LG aims to domestically source or manufacture more than 40 percent of key components used in production at Bekasi, contributing to local self-sufficiency and bolstering the supply chain. The plant will also create jobs, stimulate the regional economy and promote knowledge-sharing in air conditioning technology. These efforts will drive new growth opportunities for LG while advancing its goal of becoming a top-tier global HVAC provider.
LG has already played an important role in Indonesia’s industrial and social development through local manufacturing, sales and R&D. With facilities in Tangerang and Bekasi supplying both the domestic and regional markets, as well as a recently established R&D subsidiary, the company continues to create employment, facilitate knowledge transfer and support national industrial growth.
Now, through investment in the new partner-operated plant in Bekasi, LG will further expand production capacity and job creation, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth and community well-being. This move also reflects LG’s broader Global South strategy, which extends across R&D, manufacturing, sales and maintenance, while sustaining growth in North America and Europe. By establishing manufacturing plants in key markets such as Brazil, India and Thailand, LG is enhancing its flexibility to adapt to shifting global conditions.
“The new partner-operated facility in Indonesia underscores the tremendous progress we are making in advancing our Global South strategy,” said James Lee, president of the LG ES Company. “By strengthening local production capacity, we can better provide advanced air solutions that meet the needs of customers in Indonesia and surrounding markets, while driving growth across the region.”

Company Forms Community of Cooperation to Conduct
Comprehensive Research into HVAC Solutions for Tropical Regions
SEOUL, July 7, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG), King Saud University (KSU), Pusan National University (PNU) and Shaker Group (Shaker) met and discussed the aspects of joint cooperation in the academic and research fields including the establishment of a tropical test site for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions in Saudi Arabia. Working together with Shaker – the Saudi Arabian market leader in HVAC – and its university partners, LG aims to drive the development of innovative temperature control systems for tropical climates.
In 2024, under the auspices of the Consortium for Advanced Heat Pump Research (CAHR), LG opened labs in the United States, Europe and China to create and test cold-climate heat pump technologies. The planned Saudia Arabian laboratory will be the company’s first facility dedicated to accelerating HVAC solutions for regions with tropical climates. Findings from the research conducted at the new lab will be presented to the relevant regional academic societies by KSU and PNU. The results of research projects undertaken at the consortium’s Alaska-based lab were shared at AHR Expo 2025 in Orlando, Florida, earlier this year.
At the Saudia Arabian test facility, LG aims to collect valuable “real-world” data by operating and assessing a variety of solutions tailored for tropical conditions. Each participating party will have specific duties to perform. KSU, one of the Middle East’s most renowned universities, will provide a suitable test site environment and, in collaboration with PNU, take responsibility for conducting studies and analyzing data. LG and PNU already have a strong relationship and have been working together in South Korea to research core HVAC technologies, such as high-efficiency heat exchangers. Shaker, a trusted partner to LG for many years, will offer its invaluable support via system installation and device setup monitoring.
Once operational, the new facility will be used to thoroughly examine the performance and reliability of LG’s upcoming HVAC products, including the Multi V– an intelligent variable refrigerant flow (VRF) solution designed specifically to handle hot temperatures – and various wall-mounted residential air conditioners. LG is diligently working to develop these HVAC products and aims to complete them in the near future. Additionally, the company plans to utilize the site for testing AI engine features tailored to tropical climates.
“This exciting new collaboration will help LG to further its leadership in HVAC innovations designed for tropical climates,” said Jin Sim-won, head of Advanced R&D Division at the LG ES Company. “The data and insights we gain from the tropical region will help us deliver more efficient, intelligent and reliable solutions tailored to the world’s hotter regions.”

Bringing together art and technology, LG is curating a series of creative events across New York in May, engaging with the city’s vibrant art community through exciting collaborations. To demonstrate the company’s commitment to supporting artists, LG OLED is expanding possibilities and inspiring artistic expression as the ultimate digital canvas.
At Frieze New York 2025, LG partnered with Steven Harrington, an iconic psychedelic pop artist and the logo designer for the LA 2028 Summer Olympics. His vibrant universe comes alive on LG OLED screens, inviting visitors into a world filled with bold colors, playful characters, surreal landscapes and whimsical details.
Harrington is one of the first artists to work with the LG SIGNATURE OLED T. He chose LG OLED as his digital canvas for its ability to fully realize his artistic vision, highlighting how LG OLED opened his mind to new creative possibilities with its exceptional color reproduction and design innovation.
“This collaboration has completely expanded the way I think about making art,” said Harrington. “Being the first artist in the U.S. to work with LG’s transparent OLED TV gave me a chance to experiment in a whole new medium – where light, motion and color bring my characters to life in ways I’ve never seen before. It opened up a new dimension of vibrancy and storytelling that I’m excited to keep exploring.”
Mello, one of his signature characters who embodies the joy of everyday moments, welcomed visitors and waved from the screen of the OLED T, set against an opaque floral backdrop. The transparent screen allowed the audience to step behind and take photos with Mello, creating an interactive digital art experience.
With LG OLED’s vivid colors and precise detail, viewers were treated to the charm of Mello and other characters as they came to life on the screen in fluid motion. A playful wall illustration spotlighted the Zero Connect Box, which enables a clutter-free setup for the wireless OLED evo M5 model.
Meanwhile, the LG OLED evo G5 model’s massive 97-inch screen accentuated the bright yellow flowers and lush greens in Harrington’s Stop to Smell the Flowers No. 4, showcasing the brilliant color and impressive contrast of self-lit OLED technology. These vibrant blooms stood out against the countless white flowers scattered across the black wall, drawing attention to the central image of Mello in a purple bowtie.
At the exhibition, the StanbyME 2, LG’s latest lifestyle screen, served as both a digital canvas and a lifestyle object, showcasing Harrington’s vibrant artwork in a variety of settings. Placed on a shelf and hung like a picture frame in both portrait and landscape mode, the lifestyle screen demonstrated its potential for flexible placement and artistic appeal.
Extending the artistic experience, LG and Kartell renewed their collaboration following CES 2025 to showcase the LG SIGNATURE OLED T and StanbyME 2 at Kartell’s New York flagship store, located in the vibrant NoMad district. During Frieze New York 2025 and throughout May, visitors to the Kartell store can experience Harrington’s artwork displayed on LG’s cutting-edge screens, adding a touch of color and creativity to the store’s modern design.
To demonstrate how its screens can be effortlessly integrated into home décor, the transparent OLED T model was placed in the center of Kartell’s modern furniture, designed for various living solutions, enhancing the openness of the showroom. Its see-through screen can also be placed in front of a window, allowing natural light to flow into the space without obstructing the view.
LG and Kartell share a passion for innovation and aesthetics, having introduced respectively the world’s first transparent OLED TV and the first fully transparent chair, the iconic Louis Ghost designed by Philippe Starck in 2002. LG continues to explore opportunities for meaningful collaborations that push the boundaries of creativity, design and technology.
Throughout the Kartell store, StanbyME 2 lifestyle screens are featured in multiple arrangements, mounted on stands or placed on sleek, modern tables. LG’s lifestyle screen Posé also added a sophisticated touch to the space, blending effortlessly with the cutting-edge furniture and enhancing the overall atmosphere with its stylish look.
As part of LG’s ongoing commitment to art and technology, the LG Guggenheim Award was presented during the 2025 Young Collectors Council (YCC) Party at the Guggenheim New York. This year’s recipient, Ayoung Kim, captivated the international jury with her creation of virtual environments, where she explored contemporary themes using VR, AI and live simulation.
