Question

Posted

Automatic Firmware Update

Press the Home/Smart Home button on your remote to bring up your launcher bar.

Click the Settings icon in the top-right.

Choose the All Settings option at the bottom.

Choose the General menu from the left.

Scroll down, near the bottom of the list, and select About this TV.

From here, make sure Allow automatic updates is checked, and click the Check for updates button.

If an update is found, follow the steps on screen to download and install it.

Proceed with extreme caution and do so at your own risk. Unfortunately I do not feel LG can be trusted on initial WebOS release. Wait for the the first patch update after that. E.G. latest LG WebOS (13.30.56) update has very serious bugs. After previous bad experiences with OS updates, I had disabled auto update, but for some reason (I think during the last OS update) it had somehow been re-enabled. Today the update to 13.30.56 was automatically performed by LG without me wanting it and now my soundbar is just buzzing all the time, with no programme audio at all coming tron the TV on ARC.

Thanks for sharing the steps to update an LG Smart TV firmware. It's great to have clear instructions like these for keeping our devices up-to-date. Have you had any experiences with firmware updates on your LG TV?

An Update: LG support eventually got back to me and admitted that the OS update did indeed have a number of reported issues, and that LG are working to resolve them. No date was provided. So my soundboard TV ARC input remains as a loud buzzing sound output and is unwatchable.
