I have a LG CX 55 2023 TV and like it. I use it for work, and the dimming-after-1-minite feature is super frustrating. So I used the instructions here (
link hidden, please login to view) to turn off TPC, GSR and scrolling. It worked well and I was happy. But when the TV turns on a few hours, I've got an ugly window saying "Factory Mode: Press INSTOP to go to User Mode. Press Green Key 7 times to go to User Mode (user remote control.)
I hate this menu, and I hate having the ability to turn off zoom on a TV I'm using for work or youtube. Can anyone help me solve this issue and get rid of the monitor? I have another LG TV purchase on hold while I determine if there's a way to do this to my satisfaction or not. If they really have messed up LG TVs by making no way to turn off the dimming, I will also find a way to return my current TV to Costco despite having used it for six months.
When I tried this before, I learned that the INSTOP button will do a complete factory reset. This is NOT what I want, unless I really have no way to turn off the dimming. In which case I will cancel my other LG monitor purchase and make other plans.

Company Expands the High-Efficiency Small-to-Medium Capacity Lineup to
Provide Stable Heating Performance to More European Households

SEOUL, Aug. 8, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling its all-new Therma V R290 Monobloc 7- and 9-kilowatt (kW) air-to-water heat pumps (AWHP) at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany, from September 6-10. Following the successful launch of the large capacity models (12, 14, 16kW) at last year’s IFA, the new Therma V models come with an advanced compressor that unlocks greater efficiency and a more sophisticated design that blends seamlessly into the surroundings.
With the mandatory implementation of Nearly-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) standards across Europe,1 AWHPs are gaining popularity for their ability to reduce carbon emissions and handle energy supply uncertainties. For new constructions, medium- and small-capacity models are more suitable, making LG’s new 7- and 9 kW models ideal for the European market. Additionally, LG is establishing an Air Solution Research and Development (R&D) Lab in Frankfurt, Germany, to develop high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions tailored to Europe’s diverse local climates.
      Highly Efficient Operation
Proactively responding to tighter F-gas regulations2 and Europe’s preference shifting from traditional boilers to AWHPs, LG has adopted the R290 refrigerant for its Therma V R290 Monobloc. This natural refrigerant boasts a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3, far lower than the refrigerants commonly used in heating solutions. With an energy rating of A+++,3 this advanced solution reduces carbon emissions by up to 79 percent compared to conventional boilers by sourcing its energy from heat in the air.4 Customers upgrading to the Therma V can expect to increase their household energy efficiency significantly.5
The latest Therma V AWHP leverages LG’s advanced compressor to unlock new levels of energy efficiency and performance in colder climates. The lower positioning of the compression process helps ensure a more stable operation and smaller energy bills, while the system enables a water output of up to 75 degrees Celsius, even when it is minus 15 degrees Celsius outside.
Courtesy of the all-new compressor, both AWHP models operate at a quiet 49 dB(A) at 7kW and 50 dB(A) at 9kW.6,7 LG’s Shaft Through structure enhances stability and reduces friction, thereby minimizing noise and vibration, particularly during low-load operation. What’s more, the upgraded biomimetic innovations all contribute to the fan’s quiet operation.
      A More Sophisticated Design
Therma V R290 Monobloc features a sleek one-fan design that effortlessly harmonizes with various home designs and building exteriors. The outer casing of LG’s latest AWHP solution uses a sophisticated black tone that complements any color, while the unit’s grille features a distinctive wave pattern and understated dark grey finish. Its compact design allows it to fit under most windows without obstructing the view, making it a practical, aesthetically pleasing addition to any property.
      Smart and Simple Integration
LG’s new AWHPs are designed to seamlessly integrate with various indoor units through simplified installations, enhanced flexibility and customized options – control, hydro and combi units – that cater to different installation environments. The streamlined design guarantees a more efficient, hassle-free set up, while the company’s Building Energy Control (BECON) cloud lets the installer or service partner update its firmware remotely, saving time and effort.8 Additionally, the new models offer easy and convenient control and energy monitoring through LG’s ThinQ, creating an integrated Home Energy Platform with Energy Storage System (ESS).
“LG’s latest Therma V R290 Monobloc offers Europeans a broader range of capacity options while delivering enhanced performance and user comfort,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “LG will continue leveraging its differentiated competitiveness in high-efficiency energy technologies and key component solutions to offer a product lineup tailored to regional needs.”
Attendees can visit LG’s booth (Hall 18, Messe Berlin) between September 6 and 10, where they can explore the company’s latest energy-efficient innovations for a better life.

1 According to the European Commission, all new buildings in the EU are required to be ‘nearly-zero energy buildings’ since 2020 ( link hidden, please login to view).
2 The R290 refrigerant aligns with the revised F-gas regulations, which ban the use of HFC refrigerants with a GWP of 150 or more starting from 2027.
3 Seasonal space heating efficiency rating of A+++ at 35 degrees Celsius LWT and A+++ at 55 degrees Celsius LWT, in accordance with EN 14825 in the European Commission Regulation (EU).
4 This simulation result is based on conditions under average climate & Low temperature (35 degrees Celsius) and may differ from actual values since various assumptions have been used.  Carbon emission rates are calculated for space heating only of LG THERMA V R290 Monobloc 9kW. Compared boiler is general condensing boiler irrelevant specific brand and Annual Energy Consumption is assumed to cover same annual heating demand with LG THERMA V R290 Monobloc 9 kW. Annual CO2 emission is simulated based on Annual Energy consumption and the Carbon intensity of the power sector in the EU in 2023 and 56.1 t-CO2/TJ is considered for calculation of CO2 emission of gas boiler.
5 The new Therma V Monobloc boasts a Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) up to 5.2. based on conditions under average climate & low temperature (35 degrees Celsius). SCOP is based on EN14825 and actual efficiency may vary depending on specific installation and operating conditions.
6 A noise level of 49-50 dB(A) is generally considered quiet. For reference, a whisper is around 25 dB(A), a normal conversation is about 60 dB(A) and a household refrigerator typically operates at approximately 50 dB(A) ().
7 Actual noise levels may vary depending on the usage environment.
8 Products that form the Home Energy Platform, such as the Energy Storage System, solar panels and Building Energy Control (BECON) clouds, are sold separately. Product availability may differ by region.

Latest DUALCOOL Model Boasts Sophisticated Design, Company’s DUAL Vane
System and the Comfort-Enhancing Soft Air Feature

SEOUL, Mar. 7, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is revealing its efficient, new DUALCOOL residential air conditioner at MCE 2024 – one of Europe’s biggest heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) exhibitions – in Milan, Italy, from March 12-15. Leveraging LG’s latest air conditioning technologies, including the comfort-enhancing Soft Air function, the new DUALCOOL provides a year-round pleasant indoor environment.
With its sophisticated ‘interior fit’ design and refined matte finish, the latest LG DUALCOOL air conditioner is a stylish addition to the home. The advanced, new model integrates a dual outlet structure that delivers fast, optimized temperature control and gentle, indirect airflow that won’t leave users feeling chilly. Equipped with the efficient and reliable Dual Inverter Heat Pump Compressor, LG’s innovative air conditioner performs reliably in any season and boasts an EU energy efficiency rating of A+++.1
      Comfortable Air Flow
The air conditioner’s Soft Air function, created in response to consumer feedback, lets users enjoy customized cooling and a soothing, indirect breeze. When the function is activated, the lower vane closes so that air is discharged through the front-facing outlet only. Rather than being directed at sitting or standing height, the airflow moves downward from the ceiling for a gentler, more refreshing cooling experience.
Incorporating the innovative DUAL Vane system, the LG DUALCOOL air conditioner sends warm or cool air in multiple directions to deliver fast, effective temperature control. Its two independent vanes help extend airflow range to an impressive 22 meters; a 22 percent increase compared to previous models. It also outperforms single-vane solutions by up to 23 percent in cooling and 6 percent in heating.2 Moreover, the new air conditioner prioritizes user comfort with its effective airflow delivery method: channeling air upward and outward from above head-height when cooling, and sending airflow down toward the floor when heating.
The latest DUALCOOL model also employs the company’s Human Detection Sensor, which detects the distance between the air conditioner and the room’s occupant(s) and changes airflow mode (direct or indirect) accordingly. Users can adjust the sensor’s settings so that, based on their proximity to the indoor unit, the DUALCOOL will produce either direct, indirect or strong airflow.
      Proactive Energy-Saving
With energy prices in the EU continuing to rise, customers across Europe are increasingly prioritizing efficiency when seeking new HVAC solutions for the home. Equipped with the Dual Inverter Heat Pump Compressor, as well as various smart energy management features, the DUALCOOL air conditioner can help lower the cost of household climate control. Achieving an A+++ European Energy-related Product (ErP) rating, the new model offers year-around efficiency with a 9.5 Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) in cooling operation and 5.1 Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) in heating.1
DUALCOOL users can save energy by setting up electricity-usage target with the kW Manager. Through the ThinQ app, it makes it possible to monitor energy consumption in real time and can alert the user if the target they’ve established has been exceeded. Through regularly monitoring electricity usage and analyzing operating information, the kW Manager is able to determine the most energy-efficient range of operation for a variety of different scenarios.
Offering another way to help reduce running costs, the DUALCOOL’s Human Detecting Sensor automatically puts the air conditioner in energy-saving mode if no one is detected in the room. Meanwhile, the Window Open Detecting feature can prevent energy waste as well, activating energy-saving mode if the temperature in the room suddenly rises or falls.
Easy and Convenient Indoor Unit Care
The convenient Auto Cleaning feature automatically dries the DUALCOOL’s interior, boosting hygiene by removing any moisture and preventing mold from forming. Helping to maintain cleanliness inside the air conditioner during the colder months of the year, the Freeze Cleaning feature defrosts the heat exchanger to effectively wash away bacteria, dust, debris and odor-causing contaminants.3
“Our latest LG DUALCOOL residential air conditioner is designed to provide optimal indoor comfort in all seasons,” said James Lee, head of the Air Solution Business Unit of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “LG is committed to setting new standards in home climate control and will continuously introduce high-efficiency and environmentally-friendly HVAC innovations.”
Visitors to MCE 2024 from March 12-15 can experience all of LG’s latest HVAC solutions, including the new LG DUALCOOL, at the company’s booth (#U28/Z16, Hall 5, Fiera Milano).
The new LG DUALCOOL air conditioner is set to launch in Italy on April, with availability in other EU countries.
