can the wifi that is always on ever be turned off?

Question

Posted

I have a OLED55B7A that's connects to my network with an ethernet cable. Short of removing the back cover and disconnecting the wifi module, can the wifi in this TV actually be turned off? I don't want it even trying to connect to my wifi network.

Anyone that can "see" your wifi network can "try" to connect to it. At the moment my computer is showing 8 nearby networks. If they, and your TV don't have the password they will not get in.

Anyway, to answer your question: Yes. From LG.com website:

  1. Press the Home/Smart. ...
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top-right.
  3. Choose the All Settings. ...
  4. Choose the Network menu from the left.
  5. Choose Wi-Fi Connection if using Wi-Fi, or Wired Connection if using ethernet. ...
  6. If on Wi-Fi Choose Advanced Wi-Fi Settings at the bottom. ...
  7. Note the icons at the top with green circles.

On my LG 'smart' TV now for some reason I can now only watch the LG channels but not the fiber-optic programming on wi-fi . The HDMI 1 feed I normally use shows 'dark' on the Dashboard even though I can get the green checkmark on it. How do I reconnect it? The Dashboard shows my feed as ethernet/cable; which is wrong but efforts to correct it have failed so far.

      Hi,
I recently bought an LG UK6500PLA TV (my first LG), but I have a difficult time streaming content (Wifi connected), e.g. Netflix series is streaming in low resolution.  The router is only 10 feet away from TV (but ethernet is not an option) and uses a 5GH frequency range.
I have tried making a speed test at fast.com, for both the TV (through the Webbrowser) and for my laptop and iPhone. The speed test for TV showed 2.5 Mbps and my laptop and iPhone showed 110 Mbps. Can there really be such a big difference? I am starting to wonder if this might be a warranty issue?
Do any of you guys have experience with bad Wifi reception on your LG TV or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

      Br,
      Nick

It is unprofessional on part of LG TV that they do not resolve the basic issue of adding app gCmob in their app store.
My 50UT80506LA LG WebOs TV does not support my office security camera system via wifi to TV.  We need (gCmob app) in list of app.
I can't connect my office camera via Wi-Fi to LG-TV. No body in LG TV technical team is proactive in resolving the issue of customer. They are more happy to befool the customers, rather than looking for technical solution through wider thinking.
Please talk to you top management and make a visit to our office to understand the customers plight..
      Please respond to customers needs.
