The third and final installment of Beyond News’ 2021 Tech Trends series focuses on how LG products can make working and entertaining at home more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Given the environment the world now finds itself in, devices and gadgets that offer better at-home productivity and entertainment solutions loomed large at this year’s CES. The biggest names in consumer tech offered up a multitude of innovations in their virtual showrooms geared toward making life better for the millions who now work and play primarily within the confines of their homes.

As a consumer electronics company, LG has always had its finger on the pulse of what customers want and need. With its latest innovations in monitors, laptops and projectors, LG is helping consumers optimize their lives at home, whether they’re partaking in a marathon video conference call, wrapping up a class project, mashing the keys of their favorite MMORPG or kicking back with a blockbuster movie or bingeworthy show.

A popular upgrade for working at home is a bigger monitor. LG UltraWide™ Monitor offers the best of two worlds, with an expansive 40-inch curved screen that displays more information so you can be even more productive, while also delivering a truly cinematic viewing experience once the work day is done. Boasting a Nano IPS display with 5K2K UltraWide (5,120 x 2,160) resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio, this multitasking powerhouse boasts 33 percent more screen real estate than a 16:9 aspect ratio sized monitor with picture quality that makes every movie and video more immersive to watch.

While also ideal for getting work done, LG UltraGear™ gaming monitors really excel when there is some serious fun to be had, with its blazing speed, sharp and smooth image quality, futuristic design, and a multitude of gaming-specific features. LG’s UltraGear series offer an ultra-fast Nano IPS 1 millisecond Gray-to-Gray (GTG) response time and reduced input latency, ensuring seamless visuals and gameplay around. Most importantly, minimal screen-tearing and stuttering makes games look and feel more realistic so you can play your very best.

For a more portable work option that can be easily transported from the living room to the dining room (and anywhere in between), one would do well to consider LG’s latest LG gram laptops. Available in 14-, 16- and 17-inch screen sizes, the 2021 gram models boast 16:10 aspect ratio displays that are perfect for laptop multitasking. Equipped with the latest Intel processors, speedy memory and responsive keyboards, LG grams deliver a performance befitting their sleek, premium designs.

Stylish, slim and very lightweight, the 2021 LG grams feature narrower bezels that make it possible for these devices to feature screens larger than their svelte cases might indicate.

Movie-going has been seriously curtailed in many countries due to social distancing measures. And while some might consider a TV, monitor or even a laptop adequate for movie night at home, real cinephiles would likely bristle at the prospect. LG’s new CineBeam 4K UHD Laser projector was designed for such consumers in mind, delivering an authentic movie theater-like experience that will please even ardent cinema buff.

The advanced projector provides optimal image quality regardless of the brightness of the room, thanks to LG’s proprietary Brightness Optimizer technology. What’s more, this portable 11 kilogram unit can transform wall or ceiling into a “silver screen” so audiences will get great picture quality whether seated or lying down.

With a wide range of choices to suit a wide variety of needs and preferences, LG’s latest innovations make it easy to work and have fun from the comforts of home.

      HI All

I wondering if any help can be provided as I just purchased the LG C4 TV but having trouble getting any sound from my SC-HT500 Panasonic Theater Surround sound system having tried connecting to all four ports. I managed to connect to the universal remote via management of setting where the theater system powers up in which it's getting recognized but not getting and sound with no signal.

Please see screen shots along with manual of the surround sound system
Is there anything I'm missing in the set-up that I should try?

I'm not getting any audio from the apps via the HDMI via ARC connection to my receiver.  This occurred two weeks ago and was unable to resolve it, but ironically there was new firmware released that same day for my B6 (3/31/17) and this fixed the issue.  However, now I again can't get it working after a TV reset and tinkering with the audio settings again.  I tried to load the firmware again, but it appears this is not possible to forceable load the same firmware.

I have a 65 Inch LG OLED evo AI C4 4K Smart TV 2024 - Model OLED65C4PUA.ACC. here have been a many weird things happening. This is one of them:
I followed the instructions to set the default input on my TV, but every time I cold start it, it simply goes to the screen where there is a list of apps. I try to repeatedly go to the HOME app to try to set it again, even though it already shows HDMI 4 as the start up input, but it simpy goes to the default screen where my apps are listed.
Does anyone know what it would take to set this?

Seamlessly Integrating Customer and Spatial Experiences, Company’s “Affectionate
Intelligence Home” Presents an AI Home Lifestyle of Curated Comfort and Convenience

SEOUL, Sep. 5, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is set to unveil its vision for future living at IFA 2024, showcasing a complete range of AI home solutions for every need and lifestyle under the theme of “Experience, Affectionate Intelligence (AI) Home.”
Central to LG’s Affectionate Intelligence Home is LG ThinQ ON, an advanced AI home hub designed to deliver comfort and convenience tailored to individual preferences. ThinQ ON seamlessly integrates with LG’s latest AI appliances, forming the core of the LG AI Home Solution. This system is driven by Affectionate Intelligence, LG’s empathetic and caring AI technology. As the AI Home Solution learns more about users’ routines, preferences and behaviors over time, it creates a personalized spatial experience, delivering unmatched customer value and bringing greater ease to everyday life.
The first thing visitors to the LG booth at IFA 2024 will encounter is the AI Home Gate, an immersive LED media wall that visually communicates how LG AI is deployed within the AI Home to elevate customer lifestyles.
Visitors will get to experience LG’s sophisticated generative AI technology through the ThinQ ON hub once they pass through the AI Home Gate. ThinQ ON understands natural language, allowing users to control a wide range of appliances, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and services with conversational voice commands. LG’s AI hub facilitates a truly personalized AI home lifestyle, managing everything from lifestyle services to helping kids get a good night’s sleep.
Intelligently Personalized AI Home Lifestyles for Every Generation, Family and Pet
The Second Youth Home exemplifies LG’s commitment to enhancing the lives of the elderly by easing household chores and enriching leisure activities. Powered by ThinQ ON, this space highlights how conversational voice-recognition and seamless coordination of home appliances – for example, automatically setting the dryer to “Activewear course” once the washing machine finishes a workload – simplify home management. The AI hub can also provide voice briefings to keep users informed of what’s going on, relieve stress by offering guidance for tasks such as booking a taxi, and estimate travel time to the selected destinations.
In the Affectionate Home zone, the focus is on AI solutions designed to help families care, especially for children and pets. The Self-Driving AI Home Hub, capable of controlling AI appliances and IoT sensors, adjusts device settings and environmental conditions to meet children’s needs. For example, it can activate Sleep Mode at bedtime, dimming lights and adding a starlight effect to help kids drift off to sleep. Additionally, the hub supports learning by using generative AI to create stories from children’s drawings.
For easier pet care, LG’s AI Home Solution manages connected appliances and devices to maintain fresh air and clean floors. Air-quality sensors intelligently control the LG PuriCare Alpha Pet Double air purifier, while temperature and humidity sensors manage the DUALCOOL air conditioner, automatically adjusting mode and air flow to suit current conditions. The robot vacuum autonomously cleans the floor once after pets leave, ensuring a more pleasant living space. Additionally, the Affectionate Home zone introduces a brand-new home appliance made especially for cats (and their owners). The innovative LG AeroCat combines a cat bed with an air purifier to offer a comfortable resting spot for cats and a fresher atmosphere for their human companions.
In the Delightful Home zone, ThinQ ON takes center stage in creating a more convenient culinary experience by engaging with visitors and providing personalized recipe recommendations as well as nutritional analysis. Visitors can also enjoy live cooking demonstrations, such as the “AI Talking Cooking Show,” savor the delicious dishes prepared by LG’s AI ovens with built-in cameras, and see how the InstaView with MoodUP refrigerator enhances the ambiance.
Next up is the Smart Green Home, a self-sustaining abode featuring high-efficiency appliances, including the advanced Therma V R290 Monobloc air-to-water heat pump and state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. LG AI optimizes household energy usage in real time, adjusting device settings and schedules in accordance with users’ lifestyles and routines, while accounting for fluctuations in electricity rates. ThinQ ON also helps reduce household energy costs by intelligently managing the power consumption of all connected devices.
Innovating the AI Home Ecosystem and Key Technologies with LG AI
The LG Affectionate Intelligence zone showcases the scalability of LG’s Affectionate Intelligence with ThinQ ON at its core. Utilizing LG’s own generative AI technology and advanced security solutions, ThinQ ON acts as the central hub of diverse IoT ecosystems enhanced by a range of LG’s IoT sensors and devices. These include motion and light sensors, temperature and humidity sensors and smart buttons, all providing real-time spatial information for personalized, AI-driven home services.
The zone also highlights how LG’s open AI ecosystem integrates third-party services to enrich the customer experience and demonstrates the versatility of IoT sensors that can even connect non-AI appliances to the AI Home system. The exhibit underscores the scalability of LG’s AI solutions, giving visitors a real sense of the intelligent and responsive living environment LG is creating.
What’s more, the LG Affectionate Intelligence zone illustrates how ThinQ ON serves as the home’s central hub, working in complete harmony with LG’s ThinQ UP and ThinQ app, and a wide variety of services and solutions. This creates an exceptionally personalized experience and fosters a continuously-growing AI home ecosystem.
Finally, the AI to the Core zone highlights the cutting-edge innovation of LG’s AI Core-Tech, including the AI DD and the AI DUAL Inverter. The integration of LG’s latest AI solutions with industry-leading core technologies delivers more precise control, improved energy efficiency and enhanced personalization.
“Our Affectionate Intelligence Home solutions at IFA 2024 will enable customers to experience the ease of the Zero Labor Home, where they can enjoy a life free from mundane household chores,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “We will continue to lead the AI home era with our Affectionate Intelligence solutions and state-of-the-art core technologies.”

Revolutionizing AI Homes With Affectionate Intelligence for
Seamless Connectivity, Custom Comfort and Care

SEOUL, Aug. 29, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling the LG ThinQ ON AI home hub featuring Affectionate Intelligence at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany, from September 6-10. This innovative hub provides outstanding connectivity and expandability, positioning itself as the centerpiece of a comprehensive smart home ecosystem, where LG’s appliances and “empathetic” AI work in unison to deliver customized comfort, care and convenience.
The AI home hub seamlessly connects with a vast array of appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, making it easy for anyone to configure and enjoy a personalized AI-powered home. Powered by LG’s unique Affectionate Intelligence, the ThinQ ON continuously learns from individual usage patterns and broader usage trends to tailor customers’ daily experiences, accelerating the realization of LG’s “Zero Labor Home” vision.
Compact and lightweight, LG ThinQ ON features a cylindrical form factor and a muted color palette (gray/white) that allows it to blend effortlessly with any space or décor. The device is equipped with an AI speaker that facilitates conversations with LG’s AI voice assistant and lets users listen to their favorite audio content. The ThinQ ON’s advanced capabilities are driven by LG’s high-performance AI chipset, designed with future scalability in mind.
Generative AI-based Home Solutions Tailored to Each Customer’s Preferences
The ThinQ ON allows users to control their AI appliances and living spaces with spoken commands or requests delivered in a natural, conversational manner. This creates an experience akin to conversing with friends or family, adding a more human dimension to user-device interactions.
In addition to comprehending everyday language, LG’s AI home hub can understand the context of conversations and determine user preferences for each connected appliance, IoT device and service; bringing a new level of “care” to the home. What’s more, the ThinQ ON autonomously monitors all elements within the smart home ecosystem, helpfully informing users when a task is completed (e.g., the washer has finished a cycle) or if any issue had been detected.
On top of this, ThinQ ON makes it possible to check or change nearly all appliance settings using only voice commands and configure convenience-enhancing routines that automate appliance/IoT operations.
      Connectivity, Expandability and Versatility
LG ThinQ ON is Matter-certified* and supports various network connectivity options, including Wi-Fi and Thread, ensuring hassle-free setup and a seamless smart home experience. Compatible with a wide range of LG innovations and a growing number of appliances and IoT devices from other manufacturers, the ThinQ ON enables users to manage their entire smart home ecosystem from one place, both now and in the future.
To further enhance the connectivity of the ThinQ ON, LG acquired the smart home platform company Athom in July of this year. Athom’s flagship smart hub, Homey Pro, can connect to over 50,000 devices. The Homey App Store features around 1,000 applications for connecting and controlling products from various global brands. LG plans to maximize the advantages of the ThinQ ON’s open platform by continuously expanding the range of supported brands and devices.
Enhanced Security and Privacy Protection with LG Shield
The ThinQ ON utilizes LG Shield, the company’s proprietary security system, to protect customer data at all times – from collection and storage to usage. LG Shield encrypts user data and securely stores it in a separate server. Additionally, data modifications required are made within a secure environment, preventing external parties from tampering with the operational code and ensuring customers’ safety while they enjoy the many benefits of LG’s latest AI-driven innovations.
“An AI voice assistant and hub that serves as the center of the smart home, ThinQ ON brings us significantly closer to realizing our vision of the Zero Labor Home,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “LG aims to make the ‘AI Home Lifestyle’ accessible to everyone, and will continue to deliver customized comfort, care and convenience through its Affectionate Intelligence solutions.”
Visitors to IFA 2024 (September 6-10) can see all of LG’s latest AI Home solutions, including ThinQ ON, at the company’s exhibition booth in Hall 18, Messe Berlin.
