Can't install Emulator v2 or v3 using Component Manager

Jeff Tyson

Question

I have installed the SDK, and I'm trying to install the v2 and v3 emulator using the component manager.  When I click install it says Downloading but is stuck at 0% eventually it errors out saying "Network connectivity issues. Try again after some time.".  I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the SDK, rebooting my computer and using a different network.  Nothing seems to work, it keeps failing to download.

Please help.

I found workaround for this issue.

  1. Run componentmanager from webOS_TV_SDK\ComponentManager
  2. Click download for the emulator version which you need. And after "downloading" text will appear cancel it
  3. Go to TV_logs subfolder and find there latest log file. In the end of this file you will find URL like this
link hidden, please login to view
(may be it different for different OSes)
  4. Now open url in this browser and you will see there something like this
    {"fileId":"RF00013183","gftsUrl":"https://gfts.lge.com/fts/gftsFilePathDownload.lge?key=dlRF00013183&hash=63VaDyhP7SS5WkQP&mtime=1553668504000"}
  5. Copy generated URL and download emulator zip file
  6. Unzip downloaded file to webOS_TV_SDK\Emulator directory
  7. Now you can create shortcut for the new emulator. Just copy and modify shortcut for v.4.0.0 created by installer. Don't forget to modify working directory too.  Right machine id you can find in LG_webOS_TV_Emulator.bat
  8. If you installing web os SDK first time  you need to register emulator using vm_register.bat
  9. That's all folks! (c)

My LG 49UB850V LED TV  browser is too old. The most of the pages not work any more. How to easy update just one simple browser app? For example, often browser show error during open new page. It show certificate expire problem and page not load at all.
This mean LG sell product without update at least browser certificate and now we are stuck and can not even load one page from WWW.

Shame on you LG. I will not buy any more from you.  How dificolt is to release new update to update OS certificates? Microsoft Windows did this, android did also for old phones, etc... Really, can not undestend this asian people from Korea.

      Hi,
I've recently purchased a WebOS TV UK6400PVC and magic remote came with it. The software version is 4.10.30.
The buttons work fine but for some reason, I can't get the cursor to appear on screen.
      Appreciate the help. Thanks

      Hi to all.
I recently purchased a lg tv with web os. On the old TV was using an external media player (wd live tv). Now I wanted to directly connect the USB disk to the TV.
Unfortunately, I can not do it, because, to my regret, the web os does not have a file manager So I can not copy, move, or do anything on the external drive, no do not connect it to the PC first.
I ask is you are putting a file manager, so you can manage files between USB devices connected.
In addition to, if possible, add an icon to each file (movie) already seen.
      What do you think

With so few apps available, I find the need to use the janky included browser. It's bad enough but having to type in my account AND password every time? I love that the apps I *can* download work great -- even when I'm at the end of my data plan and everything is hampered by the slower speed!
You'd think something called "WebOS" would work with.. the web... a little more reliably. Let us download JioPages, OpenBrowser, SOMETHING that makes our TVs easier to use.

I have a  LG OLED55C14LB WebOS TV in the same room as my xubuntu desktop computer and router.

I have installed Gnome Network Displays on the Linux PC and both machines are on the same 5G network.

When I connect the PC to the TV via WiFi the TV puts up a 'cancel' option and no option to connect. The Network display app only has an option to 'Return' which closes the connection.

If I do nothing and wait the connection times out and returns to the TV program. The TV is obviously waiting for permission to connect.

I cannot see any way to 'accept' the connection via the TV remote. Can anyone tell me how to accept the connection?
In addition, is it possible to have the TV remember the WiFi password? Passwords are complex nowadays and it is a pain to keep having to input it. This make casting your desktop a chore.
