HDMI video + A/V in audio

havox

Question

I have connected my PC using a HDMI cable from my PC video cards HDMI out to TV HDMI in.

I would also love to get the sound to TV internal speaker and this has been quite the challenge for me. I connected sound cards RC jacks to TVs A/V in yellow jack at the back, and now I can either choose HDMI and get picture, or AV and get sound, but not both.

Opening Device Connector and choosing connect PC only allows picking HDMI as source.

There is some kind of multi-view program where I can choose HDMI and AV but as soon as I click HDMI full screen button the sound disappears.

Tried HDMI1 and HDMI2(ARC), no difference.

Tried getting latest software update, no changes.

Tried calling local LG service number, they weren't very helpful.

Surely I'm overlooking something simple? There has to be a way to turn the sound from A/V in jack on?

TV: OLED55C6V

Software: 03.15.10

webOS TV version: 3.1.2-114 (dreadlocks-denali)

Forget the AV cable. The sound is already transferred via HDMI - you need to change your audio output on your computer to HDMI. Right click on your volume icon the left click the Play Back devices and there you see the option to change to HDMI audio instead of speakers.

I was hoping to use the dedicated sound card with AV cable which should have a better sound quality, but that is better than no sound at all, thanks!

Another question, has anyone run into brightness being reduced automatically? Doesn't happen with fast changing images like gaming or watching movies, occurs every time when image doesn't change much like browsing internet forums. Very insidious, because the change is so gradual and slow you don't notice it until 10 minutes later you go - crap, I can't see the text any more! Reverts to normal brightness on a fast screen change, say alt-tabbing to another window with big pictures.

Picture mode standard (User). Eco mode is off. Energy saving off. Eye comfort mode off. Black level low. Motion eye care off. Dynamic contrast/color off and greyed out. Gamma medium. OLED LIGHT 0. Brightness 50. (Weird, both settings seem to do the same thing, adjusts brightness)

I went over every picture setting a few times and for all that seem to fiddle with brightness turned them off but it still happens.

I think the HDMI sound output is digital over the cable to TV so the sound quality will depend on the TV end.

the sound quality will depend on the TV end.

The sound quality on 55C6 is ATROCIOUS. Quite the jarring contrast between the best picture I've ever seen and the worst sound, I'm not audophile but even my mobile phone sounds better than that. Ended up attaching really cheap speakers to the sound card, even that sounds better. LG really cut corners on the "budget" model sound system this year, and I use the word budget here very loosely, what with the 3000EUR price tag and all :)

Meanwhile, whenever I'm not gaming/watching movies, every half hour I have to grab the "magic remote" and fiddle with buttons to get my brightness back. 15 years ago I bought a dumb TV very cheap, could just plug it in and it worked. But this thing has a cutesy animated bird cursor, that totally makes the quad core processor inside the TV worth it. Good job LG, I'm so happy to save on electricity after spending that much on a new OLED *grumble grumble* *old man rantings*

Update: After several days on the phone with local LG support, I have been told this 'feature' exists for TV protection and cannot be adjusted, looks like I'm out of luck on that one. Next step will be trying to e-mail LG and hope for a software update.

I purchased an LG 86" UT8050 4K UHD LED Smart TV (2024) from JBHIFI in Australia. The TV was wall-mounted and set up by a local installer. I discovered that my TV has Chromecast built-in. I tried casting music from Roon, but Chrome immediately crashed and the TV shutdown. I tried again and the audio was distorted. I shut down and tried again and the audio stuttered. I tried Chromecasting with Qobuz and Plex and got the same result on audio playing out to my Yamaha RX-V6A and the TV speakers. I then tried to play audio from the Plex App in the LG WebOS. That played fine, without any distortion.
Thinking this might have been a result of a hurried setup (the installer did this job "on the run" I reset the TV to factory defaults and set it up again. Everything went smoothly. But the problem with Chromecast persists. First time launching Chromecast the app crashed and the TV shutdown. 2nd try I got distorted audio to the receiver and to the TV speakers. Audio and Video are fine on all other apps. I can see no other faults.
I've been Googling this and not seeing much info other than a few threads where people are saying that the LG built-in Chromecast feature does not work. I saw that one person returned his TV and the replacement had the same issue with built-in Chromecast. Most discussions on this issue are hijacked by people using a Chromecast streamer or dongle as opposed to the built-in Chromecast. They often talk about turning off this or that specific Chromecast setting, settings that are not accessible with a TV with built in Chromecast
In the WebOs when I look at connected source devices Chromecast is there with a "Chromecast Settings" option. The settings have only one option and that is opt-in on sending crash data to Google. Apparently, Google is not monitoring the issue very closely.
I listen to mostly Hi-Res audio. I wonder if the issue is caused by the bitrate of 24-bit Hi Res flac files. I did notice that when I cast audio that was CD quality (16-bit), the distortion did not occur. This is weird though because in the past I have been able to cast 24-bit audio to Chromecast-enabled devices without any problems.
My TV says my firmware is up to date. I did not see a prompt to install a firmware update during setup. I've set software and app updates to be automatic.
Appreciate any help or even a "Hey, it's not just you, this is a known issue, I've got this problem too".

      Hello,

I recently purchased an LG C2 65" with WebOS and I find that sometimes I want to use multiview picture-in-picture to play a video game from an HDMI input, then watch youtube in a small window. It would be nice if I could also listen to the game audio along with the youtube audio. I am thinking it would be enough to have both audio sources combined and I could adjust the volume from the HDMI device. Ideally, it would have its own mixer to set the volumes of each but that is not needed initially. Also, I wish there were move options for moving the screen around. I really like how Firefox has their picture-in-picture mode where you can move it around the screen so dynamically and change the size by dragging the window. It is nice that it can be moved around the screen, and made smaller. And probably good to have those as default movements but maybe have an option to unlock full moving of the screen.

I have a 65 Inch LG OLED evo AI C4 4K Smart TV 2024 - Model OLED65C4PUA.ACC. here have been a many weird things happening. This is one of them:
I have 2 HDMI 2.1 cables attached to a Rogers Internet TV unit (HDMI 4) and the other 2.1 cable plugged into an XBOX Series X (HDMI 3). If the TV is on an HDMI 4 is active, and I turn on the XBOX (HDMI 3), the TV begins to swtich back and forth constantly and never ends until I turn off the TV. It will automatically switch itself from HDMI 4 to 3, then 3 to 4, then back to 3 again non-stop.
If I power off the XBOX, this behaivor stops.
Would anyone know why this does that? Is this a software or hardware problem? I tried to describe this to LG Support but they had no answers.

I'm not getting any audio from the apps via the HDMI via ARC connection to my receiver.  This occurred two weeks ago and was unable to resolve it, but ironically there was new firmware released that same day for my B6 (3/31/17) and this fixed the issue.  However, now I again can't get it working after a TV reset and tinkering with the audio settings again.  I tried to load the firmware again, but it appears this is not possible to forceable load the same firmware.

Whenever I turn on my TV, it doesn't remember the audio settings I chose before. I repeatedly need to set my audio for the input I am using. I ofter select APPLY TO ALL INPUTS to try and make sure it's the same regardless of which input I use, but it still reverts all changes.
Does anyone know what this happens?
