From office towers to shopping malls – and even nuclear power plants – chillers are the unsung heroes of climate control. But when it comes to airports, the challenge is on a whole different level. These massive hubs run 24/7, with thousands of people moving through terminals, baggage areas, control rooms and retail spaces. That means the cooling systems have to be rock-solid, efficient and ready for anything.

At LG, we’ve made it our mission to deliver that kind of performance. Our high-efficiency chillers are designed to keep indoor conditions comfortable while making the most of every bit of energy. And airports around the world are proving just how reliable our solutions can be in some of the most demanding environments out there.

We know that no two airports are exactly alike, so we tailor our cooling solutions to each location. Our lineup includes Absorption, Centrifugal, Water-Cooled Screw, Air-Cooled Screw and Inter Scroll Chillers – each with specialized technology and precise control systems. Whether it’s a scorching desert climate or a humid coastal city, our chillers adapt to keep things running smoothly.

Take King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We installed five Centrifugal Chillers there, each with a 3000 Refrigeration Ton (RT) capacity. Using two-stage compression, they deliver top-tier performance while minimizing energy consumption. We’ve also brough Centrifugal Chillers to airports in Bangladesh and Indonesia, helping them maximize cooling efficiency for their large-scale facilities.

In Brazzaville, Congo, Maya-Maya Airport now runs on Water-Cooled Screw Chillers. These units are built for stability, with advanced protection devices and precise control, and to celebrate this achievement, we hosted a commemorative installation ceremony on September 12.

Over in Mexico City, Benito Juarez Airport relies on our Air-Cooled Screw Chiller to keep passengers comfortable. It runs quietly, with low vibration, and uses a high-performance control algorithm to optimize output. By using a falling film evaporator and electronic expansion valve, it also enhances heat transfer efficiency, reduces refrigerant charge and precisely manages refrigerant flow.

Here at home in South Korea, our chillers are hard at work in multiple airports. Incheon International Airport runs eight Air-Cooled Screw Chillers for consistent cooling, while other major airports such as Gimpo and Jeju operate Absorption models with low-GWP refrigerant for stability and efficiency, alongside Centrifugal and Water-Cooled units.

These projects are just the beginning. The global chiller market is expected to hit USD 12 billion by 2027, and we’re aiming to grow our chiller business to USD 720 million (KRW 1 trillion) within two years.       Offers Enhanced Service Delivery in Food Retail Environments

      SEOUL, July 19, 2023 — LG Electronics (LG) has unveiled its newest LG CLOi ServeBot (model LDLTR30), a smart service robot convenient for places where service is needed, including restaurants. Boasting a quick and stable autonomous driving system that can handle various types of flooring, and an upgraded design with enhanced features, LG CLOi ServeBot ensures reliable service delivery. The new model also has a guide function for helping customers to find their way around, freeing up staff to spend more time on management and administrative duties.
      First launched in early 2020, LG CLOi ServeBot is designed to be deployed in public spaces such as restaurants, hospitals and office buildings to assist humans without human-to-human interaction, and is optimized for in-person customer service. The latest version offers enhanced driving performance with 6 wheels and independent suspension, allowing for stable operation on different kinds of flooring, including carpet and braille blocks. It also has a 3D camera and a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor. This enables the CLOi ServeBot to securely transport beverages and meals, including soups and noodles, even when travelling over surfaces with a slope of up to 5 millimeters (0.2 inches). Additionally, this advanced technology lets the CLOi ServeBot navigate obstacles smoothly, ensuring that none of its valuable “cargo” is upset.
      The new LG CLOi ServeBot also delivers increased storage capacity and flexibility. Its 4 easy-to-access shelves (21 x 17 inches) – including one that can be used as main drawer – can collectively manage a load of up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds). The upgraded LG CLOi ServeBot offers further convenience with its upper pockets and cup holders, and features an additional bottom drawer that can be used for storing items such as napkins and utensils. For extra versatility, the LG CLOi ServeBot’s shelves are detachable and can be adjusted up or down within a range of 2.8 inches.
      LG’s newest CLOi ServeBot provides smarter service thanks to its large 10.1-inch display and built-in content management system. Operators can adapt the autonomous robot for a specific use scenario by choosing an appropriate facial expression and by displaying videos, images or text. As such, LG CLOi ServeBot can communicate relevant information to customers, such as menu recommendations or in-store promotions, and also advertise services from partner companies. Additionally, LG CLOi ServeBot can be used for entertainment purposes, such as displaying customized content for special events and celebrations. What’s more, LG’s new service robots communicate with each other to coordinate their movements; facilitating smooth, efficient operation in food retail environments.

      The Company’s First Diagnostic Monitor With IPS Black Technology,

      SEOUL, May 30, 2023 — LG Electronics (LG) has launched its 31.5-inch IPS Black diagnostic monitor (model 32HQ713D). The company’s first medical monitor to employ IPS Black technology, the new model provides sharp, clear images with vibrant colors and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio. LG’s new diagnostic monitor delivers consistent image quality via automatic self-calibration and ease-of-use with 6 convenient hotkeys.
      Thanks to an 8-megapixel resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels), LG’s IPS Black diagnostic monitor offers the level of clarity needed for medical imaging, including x-rays, mammograms and CT scans. With Multi-Resolution Mode (8, 6 and 4MP), users can adjust screen resolution to suit the type of image being viewed.
      Equipped with IPS Black technology, the 32HQ713D provides clear image definition with deep blacks and detailed expression in the low gray tones. LG’s diagnostic monitor also features a built-in front calibration sensor that enables automatic self-calibration to help keep image quality stable.
      Additionally, the 32HQ713D comes with Focus View Mode and Pathology Mode. Controllable with either mouse or keyboard, Focus View Mode makes it possible to select a specific part of an image to review – dimming the rest of the screen to help highlight the area of concern. Pathology Mode provides image clarity and accuracy as if looking at a microscope.
      LG’s new diagnostic monitor offers a convenient user experience with 6 hotkeys that make it quick and simple to adjust various settings, including mode, screen resolution and lighting. For convenient management, the Presence Sensor automatically turns the display off after 5 minutes if no motion has been detected. The monitor also comes with a one-click stand that simplifies the installation process and offers ergonomic comfort with adjustable tilt, height and swivel.

      LG Business Solutions recently introduced digital signage to Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport. In particular, the company provided an LED signage totem in Terminal B. Featuring up to 1,000 nits of brightness, the totem provides Russian cultural showcases, animated clock towers and advertisements, according to a press release.
      LG built a custom frame with an incorporated air cooling system for the totem and designed it so that each of the LED units had no visible gaps between them to craft a four-sided screen.
      The company provided other displays as well, including:
      Two digital art sculptures. 49-inch webOS display mounted on top of 86-inch 4K displays to provide airport information and advertising. 88-inch Ultra Stretch displays providing Russian culture vignettes. 49-inch webOS displays to guide customers to the check-in counters. "This project was the biggest and most impressive installation of digital signage in the Russian transportation industry," Ludmila Ignatova, general manager, Tegrus, an LG system integrator partner, said in the release. "Reliable product quality was very critical. For this, LG was the best partner we could have had, thanks to its global reputation as a leader in the digital signage industry."

      If you've been watching the webOS Nation Forums or the webOS community on Twitter, you may have seen the troubling reports that

This certificate is responsible for ensuring secure access to HP's webOS cloud services, including backup and the App Catalog, and once it expires, there's no accessing those services. It's a problem, a ticking time bomb, if you will. We've been wondering if or when HP was going to fix the issue, and indeed had heard rumblings that a fix was in the works and due - wait for it - in the coming weeks. Today we got word from HP that the fix is indeed coming. In fact, it's due today, and it's coming in the form of an update to the the webOS App Catalog.
      Updating one app to update a part of webOS isn't something new to HP. Back in 2011 they issued an update to the Maps app on webOS smartphones, that in addition to switching the mapping service also support on the device. Granted, this isn't as much of a stealth update - the sole purpose of this update to the App Catalog is to install a new, later-expiring root certificate.
      The App Catalog update is for webOS 2.1 and higher devices only. For those running older versions of webOS, you'll have to go into the App Catalog and manually download the HP App Catalog Update app.
      Seeing as the update is to replace the certificate that expires on July 23, you'll need to do this before July 23. If you don't, it's still possible, but you're going to have to trick the system by setting your device clock back to before July 23, 2013 and then downloading the update.
      Once you've updated with the new certificate things should continue to work for quite some time. In fact, we'd expect a shutdown from HP's webOS servers before the new certificates expire. So you should .
