redlund Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 First and foremost, I want to say that it's a fantastic picture of mom's new LG TV. But as I understand it, webOS is very locked down in terms of moving icons as you want, which makes the TV very difficult to use and navigate. Is there any app that allows me to configure my LG TV with webOS as I want, similar to what's available for Android TV? Quote
Smartboy Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 Hi RedLund, like you when I bought my very first OLED LG TV a few years ago, I also had the same thoughts : why LG made the webOS so locked down ? Also like you I was looking for a smarter remote, easier to use and a nice interface ala android. For elder people, webOS is a nightmare ! I tried to find a way to workaround webOS or even to reprogram some part (yes there is a web OS open system) but this is too heavy to change and to maintain. I end up with NOT USING WEBOS. This is sad but I have some people at home that cannot use complex devices. So the only choice is to use either an android box or Apple TV 4K. For the quality and simplicity, I choosed Apple TV which comes with a nice small remote and nice easy-to-use interface. And offers a verygood image quality ! Quote
Philippe Thomas Posted May 26, 2025 Posted May 26, 2025 Hi Redlund, to complete my previous answer, I also noticed that with the recent LG OLED C5 comes with a smaller well done TV remote control. But the TV interface using WebOS doesnt change too much. If you want to modify WebOS I suggest to see link hidden, please login to view which the open source behind the WebOS that comes with LG TVs.
