PreCentral: Lisa Brewster leaving HP

Lisa Brewster leaving HP

We're sad to report that longtime friend of the site, webOS community activist, and webOS developer relations guru Lisa '

' Brewster is leaving HP. Lisa joined HP in October of 2009 after organizing the PreDevCamp series, taking up a position in the Developer Relations department where she managed everything from app approval and developer technical support to actually creating the review policies and standards for the App Catalog. More recently, Lisa dodged the layoffs axe and transitioned over the the Enyo team in February 2012 where she took on the roll of Technical Marketing Manager, working on building developer support for the Enyo application framework.

Said Lisa in her departure announcement:

As a friend who’s been ex-Palm for longer than I’ve worked here once told me, Palm DNA is strong.  Employees will come and go like so many renewed cells in a body, and they will continue to make amazing products.  Enyo 2 exited beta just last week, which marks a new beginning for web developers to bring this DNA beyond webOS, same as I’ll bring this DNA with me.  I will always consider myself a friend of the Enyo project, and will continue to support and promote Enyo developers as I can.

While we don't expect Lisa to drop off the face of the Earth (or Twitter, for that matter), we are still sad to see her leaving webOS. Lisa was one of a handful of employees that had been with Palm through all its trials and stuck with it through thick, thin, and thinner. She's always a respected voice in the community, both on behalf of Palm and HP and as a mobile enthusiast in her own right. That's not to mention her work as part of the Developer Relations Team, where she was tireless in her support of those developers, even if it meant butting heads with the higher-ups to make things right. So revered and respected is Lisa that she got her own bobble head app (which she of course immediately approved and published to the App Catalog).

So where's Lisa off to now? She hasn't confirmed her next destination, but a source close to the situation has told us that Lisa Brewster's next stop is going to be at Mozilla, where she'll be in charge of the Firefox OS app store. They'll be lucky to have her.

      Hi to all!
I'm really new into this and have a problem. My 2018 LG 55UJ635V-ZF has only webOS 3 (latest; ethernet-automatic download) an i can't use airplay or miracast. The apps i found in the store for mirroring are only pay2use to use this needed feature for me.
On the LG Homepage i can't find an upgrade for my TV an maybe is my tv really to old for upgrades or am i wrong?
Maybe someone can help me out or bring some light for me in this.
I also found the suggestions on this site for the firmware 4.70.70 (for the UJ's), but i can't download....error.
sorry for my bad english 🙂
      thx for your help, quartex.

I am using an LM6300PLA, WebOS version 05.30.11
When I try to record a series from the Live TV - using input the satellite connection - the first episode records correctly, but subsequent episodes all stop after 3 minutes.
      What am I doing wrong?
Further annoyances are that I can't just set it to record all episodes of a particular show (the way my HUMAX Freesat does), but only 'repeat recording on specified days' with no end-date.
Does this mean that the recorder has no access to the Electronic Programme Guide, but just sets a time and duration? If the broadcaster reschedules the programme does the recorder just pick up the replacement?

Greetings Touchpad users! The webOS Nation Forums went down this month -- unceremoniously redirected to some crappy review site, despite the community's pleas to let us save or preserve it in some fashion. As a result, we're looking here (and other places) for some kind of community forum!
For those who visit here, I wanted to let you know that despite all recent set-backs, the legacy webOS community is alive and well, still using our Touchpads, Pres, Pixis and Veers in 2023!
Resources to get online, apps to try out, and lots of other things to do can be found at webosarchive.org
We've also got a Discord server going -- it even connects to webOS Devices, through a modern app called SimpleChat. Come join us at docs.webosarchive.org/community

      Hi Team,
After update of LG WebOS to 04.40.70, Amazon Prime Video app on my LG Smart TV stopped working. It started giving error :
      Internet Connectivity Problem
There is an internet connection problem. Check the device's internet settings, data cables, or try to resetting your router. Also, turning your device off, and then back on might fix the problem. For further assistance, please contact Amazon customer service at www.amazon.com/videohelp
The internet/wifi connection is fine and all the other apps are working without any issue on the LG smart TV.
I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Prime video app, but that didn't help.
Has anyone faced this issue ? Is there a solution available for this issue.
      Thanks & Regards,
      Nitin

CBS Catchup, Discovery+, POP player, and UKTV Play always need updating. Even seconds after you just updated them. It started doing this a few days ago.
Who can I contact to get this fixed?
Since the "apps need updating" notification now always appears when I switch the TV on, I now have no way of telling if anything really does need updating other than going into the LG content store, clicking Apps, clicking My Apps, and visually checking.
      ☹️
