  1. Latest news on WebOS 3.0

LG has confirmed that Freeview Play will be included with the new iteration of its webOS smart TV operating system, webOS 3.0. It means ITV Hub and All 4 catch-up services will be available through LG’s smart TV platform for the first time.

The services will be accessible alongside BBC iPlayer and Demand 5. Video-on-demand services including Netflix, Amazon Video, Now TV and Google Play will also all be available through the platform. Freeview Play will also allow users to scroll backwards and forward by seven days to catch-up on missed programmes, or set recordings for future shows.

Freeview Play will be rolled out on webOS 3.0 devices through June, while the scroll-back TV guide will be available as an update later this year.

  2. I have answered my own question.

    For those that are interested...

Go to "about this TV" in the general menu. The software version will be shown (in my case it is 03.10.17)

I then selected sub menu TV information received further details including model number, serial number, available storage, MAC address, webOS TV Version

It seems my webOS is 3.1.1-108 (dreadlocks-denali)

  3. Hi

    Did you try the below?

    Registering the Magic Remote Control

You must register the Magic Remote Control on your Smart TV when you use it for the first time. To register your Magic Remote Control using the Wheel (OK)button, perform the following steps:

    1. Turn on your Smart TV.

    2. Wait for 10 seconds while your Smart TV turns on.

    3. Aim the Magic Remote Control at the Smart TV, and then press the Wheel (OK)button. A message appears after the Magic Remote Control is registered.

      • If the Magic Remote Control does not register, turn your Smart TV off and on again and repeat the registration process.

If the Magic Remote Control is not functioning properly, initialize it and then re-register it. To use the Smart Home (remote_home.png) button and BACK (remote_back.png)button on the Magic Remote Control to re-register the Magic Remote Control, perform the following steps:

    1. Hold down the Smart Home(remote_home.png) button and BACK (remote_back.png)button on the Magic Remote Control for 5 seconds to initialize the Magic Remote Control.

    2. Aim the Magic Remote Control at your Smart TV, and then press the Wheel (OK)button. A message appears after the Magic Remote Control is registered.

    NOTE

Aim the Magic Remote Control at your Smart TV, and then hold down the BACK (remote_back.png)button for 5 seconds to re-register the Magic Remote Control.

  4. Hi

I have an LG TV (webos) and Samsung (Tizen) and both only connect to their own brand via Bluetooth. It seems all manufacturers are trying to establish their own ecosystem and push sales of their own devices. Not sure about Sony (Android TV) but would not be surprised if they are the same.

  5. Hi dusf

There is normally a hidden menu (also not know as hotel mode or menu) that has the copy to usb option.

To access hotel mode, press and hold menu or settings button on remote until menu appears, then disappears and channel info is displayed

Release menu or setting button then quickly enter code 1105 and press ok.

On some models, pressing the home button instead of settings or menu also works.
