  1. I did this fix almost 2 years ago and posted here back in March 2022. So far the fix is holding and I am next to the ocean where the salt air ruins electronics quickly. Of course I didn't appreciate needing tear apart my TV, but other than that I like everything else about it.
  2. If you read through this entire thread, you will find that the only reliable fix that people have found is opening the TV and moving or just spraying the ribbon cable ends. I did this over a year ago and still is working fine. Admittedly this is an extreme measure for some people, but there are YouTube videos that show how to do it. My original post is: https://www.lgwebos.com/topic/3520-popup-messages-wired-lan-cable-disconnected-wired-network-is-connected/?do=findComment&comment=24874 Read serveral of the posts that just preceed mine and you will see many other people had good results. The only downside is that you have to be willing to risk damaging your TV, but in my case, I was willing to pay for a replacement TV to get rid of the problem, so this solution avoided buying a new TV.
  3. My suggestion was not using the server to do the playing. The TV was the player, it just used the server as the place to find the files.
  4. You may not need anything extra. When I press the Input button on the remote for my LG 50UK6090PUA - in addition to the expected HDMI1, HDMI2, etc. there is also my server listed. I pick that and navigate to the video I want. There are plenty of reasons that my case may be different from yours. I am using a WD MyCloud that is running its stock DLNA server and my files are mkv files instead of mp4. Still, it is worth a try and costs nothing in dollars or time.
  5. I had 2 of the problems mentioned here. I kept getting the LAN disconnected / reconnected messages and my Wi-Fi connection did not work at all. The message was "Wi-Fi not turned on" and it would never give me a list of available Wi-Fi connections. After reading much of this thread and other places on the web, including YouTube, I decided to give this a try. Removing the screws from back of my 50UK6090PUA was the easy part. (Except for the one cleverly hidden among the RCA jacks.) Releasing all the clips around the edges was a challenge. An old credit card would probably be a good tool for this job. Instead of alcohol I used spray electronic contact cleaner. Home Depot lists at least 3 brands, but only one was in stock at my local store. I didn't do any thing with the 90 turns (a 45 degree crease) as this is pretty normal procedure for routing ribbon cable and I felt I might do more harm than good trying to straighten them. I did find one place the looked very crimped right where 2 ribbons were entering my Wi-Fi card. I straightened this one and sprayed both ends of the ribbons connecting the mother board to the Wi-Fi board and around the ethernet connector. Putting it all back together was extra simple. Both of my problems are now gone and I am especially happy to be done with the irritating LAN pop-up messages. Thanks to everyone here that volunteered their solutions. Without the encouragement I probably wouldn't have tried this solution.
