  1. The latest trends in mobility focus on the unique driving experiences the latest cars can provide. This comes down to consumers valuing the journey more as an important part of their daily lifestyle. In 2022, building a vehicle that provides comfort and new driving experiences contributes to its competitiveness in the market. One such technology that provides new experiences is the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system.

Various onboard software installed in IVI System

In-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system combines the words ‘information’ (navigation, speedometer, etc.) and ‘entertainment’ (movies, music, games and social media). The best IVI systems introduce fun and interesting ways to enhance the driving experience that go way beyond notifications.

Considering that the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) are primary contact points between the product and customer, their ease of use, speed and intuitiveness are more important than ever. With this in mind, LG Electronics is developing infotainment technology that brings new value to drivers and passengers.

Since then, LG has been constantly improving its IVI systems which, in partnership with JLR, are the most intuitive and seamless to date. To get a better idea of just how exceptional they are, let’s discuss the five main benefits of the LG IVI system featured in the iconic Land Rover Defender.

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-03-600x399.

    Multi-device connection

Unlike AVNs (Audio, Video, Navigation), which only support a single connection, LG’s infotainment technology supports two connections at once so passengers can connect their smartphone using a hotspot to perform two separate actions on the vehicle’s AVN screen and smartphone screen simultaneously.

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-04-600x400.

After connecting a device to the Defender’s AVN, passengers can stream music from their device via the AVN while watching YouTube on their portable screen. Basically, the driver can play music while the passenger watches YouTube with one smartphone. AVN supports other multitasking operations such as running a car software update as the navigation app works on the smartphone.

    Personalized screen per user

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-05-600x370.

On the road, we often find ourselves sharing the cabin with family members or work colleagues with different interface preferences. That’s why the LG IVI system lets you create multiple user accounts on the AVN so that everyone’s ideal screen layout is just a few presses away.

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-06-600x363.
Land Rover Defender’s AVN UI for selecting and adding user profiles

After selecting an account, the user’s personal wallpaper, playlist and recent destinations are displayed on screen. This feature is ideal for cars driven by more than one person.

    As easy as a smartphone

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-07-600x382.

On the screen, users can even launch apps as they would on a smartphone, making it much easier to access online media stored on the Cloud. What’s more, its easy-to-use UI sports unique fonts, an intuitive menu layout and optimized menu structure let them access the menu instantly. And editing apps is easier and more intuitive too, meaning the layout and order of apps can be adjusted to one’s liking with ease.

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-08-600x399.
Selecting apps to display on the Land Rover Defender’s AVN home screen

Single Sign-In eliminates the hassle of logging in multiple times for different apps as it permits users to log into their account once for complete app access. It’s the perfect example of the seamless experience, where the seamless smartphone experience is extended to the car.

    Safe and secure

When leaving your car with a valet attendant, being logged into a profile on the AVN gives that person access to sensitive information, including home addresses and contacts – a serious security risk.

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-09-600x398.

To protect consumers’ personal information, Valet Mode password-protects the screen to prevent any unwanted access, perfect for when hiring a driver or lending a car to a friend.

    Customizable cluster screen

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-10-600x398.

The vehicle’s cluster provides key information like the speedometer, warning indicators, maps and other driving-related information. The driver can even enlarge one of these indicators to enhance its visibility or even display something in its full screen mode.

    Mobility-Inside_Infotainment-11-600x394.

The IVI system developed by LG Electronics for Jaguar Land Rover can be found in various models, both internal combustion models and electric vehicles. LG’s goal is to provide more consumers around the world with the benefits of its IVI systems by bringing them to more premium automakers.

Greatly expanding the customer experience, the company’s latest AI chips can process innumerable data points and enable LG appliances to communicate with one another – and with other smart devices as well. LG8111, the new AI chip used in the MoodUP™, features an acceleration engine that processes information gathered from the refrigerator’s built-in cameras, microphones and sensors in real time. This allows the MoodUP™ to quickly recognize changes in its immediate environment and adjust performance accordingly, facilitate more convenient interactions with users and accurately assess if all of its features are functioning optimally.

    On-the-Job-SIC-03-600x333.png

Recognizing the importance that AI will play in consumer electronics and wanting to find a solution to differentiate LG products, engineers at the LG SIC Center began to develop the LG8111 in 2017 and created the first prototype in 2018. The LG8111, a highly integrated AI chip that is equipped with an LG-specific AI processor, is perfectly designed for LG products. While the chip performs and functions better online, its AI functions can also be utilized offline as well.

Impressively, the LG8111 can provide three types of AI: vision intelligence (the ability to recognize and distinguish between different spaces, locations, objects and users), voice intelligence (the ability to recognize users’ voices or specific noises associated with a certain type of space) and control intelligence (the ability to adjust and optimize performance according to physical or chemical changes in the environment). Also, when connected to Wi-Fi, any product equipped with the LG8111 can transmit information to nearby devices or to cloud servers.

    On-the-Job-SIC-04-600x333.png

“We spent a considerable amount of time deciding which device would be the first to apply our new on-device AI chip,” said Chang Woon-suk, lead of Smart Solution TP, LG SIC Center.

Various appliances were in contention, but ultimately, the SIC team decided to go with a refrigerator, a choice made because the household fridge has the distinction of being the only home appliance to operate 24/7. The first recipient of the state-of-the-art chip, the color-changing LG refrigerator with MoodUP™ boasts a seamless voice recognition feature that allows for convenient, remote control and monitoring via the LG ThinQ app.

    On-the-Job-SIC-05-600x333.png

“All of our top-notch researchers at the LG SIC Center are dedicated to developing chip solutions based on the core goal of maximizing customer value,” said Chang. “While we’re pleased with the success of the LG8111, we will continue to push the envelope as a team to take the customer experience to the next level.”

The successful implementation of the LG8111 in the new LG refrigerator with MoodUP™ opens the way for the chip’s use in a wide range of LG solutions, from other smart home appliances to electric vehicle components.

Stay tuned to Beyond News to learn more about the innovative technologies LG is using to drive the customer experience forward.

  12. LG-Thailand-Flood-Relief_01.jpg

Last year was a particularly harsh one for many families in Thailand, as severe floods devastated large areas of the northeast and central regions repeatedly over a prolonged four-month period. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, a central Thailand province steeped in ancient history, was one territory that was hit particularly hard by this unprecedented catastrophe.

To restore and preserve the city’s infrastructure, historical locations and private homes damaged by this unforgiving natural disaster, LG Thailand initiated a range of activities that took full advantage of the company’s expertise and kind-hearted employees as it extended a helping hand to those in need.

    LG-Thailand-Flood-Relief_02-600x387.jpg

LG recruited a team of over 30 volunteers who worked diligently throughout the day to clear up as many of the smudges created by the flooding as possible and repaint buildings from schools to temples, returning their old, dilapidated walls to their former glory.

    LG-Thailand-Flood-Relief_03-600x400.jpg

Fully understanding that flood-damaged electrical appliances, which are considered daily essentials, must be repaired as a matter of urgency within the affected communities, LG created a registration system where households could sign up to receive inspections and maintenance services as fast as possible. Thanks to this effort, people could bring their devices to a service center or request LG technicians pay a visit to their houses for repairs.

The company’s endeavor to care for locals continues to change lives with a donation of LG appliances and cash totaling over USD 10,600. “Through this and other activities, LG has joined hands with the local government to help accelerate the restoration of the province and improve the well-being of our inhabitants,” said Prapan Treebubpha, deputy governor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.

The flood relief project is yet another embodiment of LG’s long-held commitment to improving the overall quality of life and well-being of people across the world, as it strives to promote its Life’s Good vision. In July 2022, LG also donated electrical appliances worth over USD 11,500 to the Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society and Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer (PMMV) Foundation to support the heroes working in Thailand’s medical sector, believing that this donation would benefit the healthcare and livelihoods of all Thai people in time.

  13. Highest Full-Year Revenue in LG Electronics’ History With
Continuous Growth Based on Strong Fundamentals

A picture of LG Twin Towers in the daytime

SEOUL, Jan. 27, 2023 — LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced full-year 2022 consolidated revenue of KRW 83.5 trillion with operating profit of KRW 3.6 trillion.

In 2022, LG achieved its highest annual revenue ever – surpassing KRW 80 trillion for the first time in its history – increasing 12.9 percent over 2021, when sales exceeded KRW 70 trillion for the first time. The record sales reflect continuous growth based on strong fundamentals, although full-year profitability was impacted by challenging global economic conditions.

The company’s revenue growth in 2022 was driven by strong demand for premium home appliances and automotive parts. For the seventh consecutive year, the appliance business unit saw significant year-over-year growth. The turnaround of LG’s Vehicle components Solutions business in 2022 reflected steady improvements in the automotive industry, and this business exceeded 10 percent of LG’s total revenue for the first time.

The LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company saw another record-setting year with 2022 revenue of KRW 29.9 trillion, an increase of 10.3 percent from the previous year, as a result of company’s premium-focused strategy that includes unique appliances such as LG Styler™ clothing care systems, all-in-one WashTower™ laundry centers, and LG InstaView refrigerators with Craft Ice™. Full-year 2022 operating profit was KRW 1.1 trillion lower than in the previous year caused by increased marketing investments and higher logistics costs. The business unit plans to consistently pursue its premium-centered strategy by improving competitiveness of premium products as well as strengthening its mass-tier lineup, along with cost structure management to enhance profitability. In addition, the company will accelerate the expansion of smart home ecosystems by expanding upgradable appliance lineups in the overseas markets.

The LG Home Entertainment Company reported 2022 revenue of KRW 15.7 trillion and operating profit of KRW 5.4 billion. Although lower global TV demand impacted revenue and operating profit versus 2021, the company’s content and services business based on LG’s smart TV platform has grown ten-fold since 2018. As challenging business conditions persist, the company will focus on expanding LG’s smart TV platform to diversify its overall business portfolio and secure future growth engines. Furthermore, the company will maintain its competitive edge by growing the premium TV segment, such as OLED TV and QNED TV, as well as effectively managing marketing expenses.

The LG Vehicle component Solutions Company increased revenue by 29.1 percent in 2022 from 2021 to KRW 8.6 trillion with a full-year operating profit of KRW 169.6 billion. The business unit’s profitable growth was driven by proactively responding to higher demand from automakers. By year-end 2022, the total value of accumulated orders for auto parts is around KRW 80 trillion, reflecting the company’s position as a leading supplier to the worldwide automotive industry. The company will continue its momentum by strengthening its global supply chain and will work to further increase profitability through efficient cost structure management.

The LG Business Solutions Company’s 2022 revenue of KRW 6.1 trillion increased 11.2 percent over the previous year driven by continuous recovery of information displays. Full-year operating profit declined, primarily due to lower post-pandemic demand for PCs and monitors. Looking ahead, the company plans to improve competitiveness of PCs and monitors, while driving stable growth in the B2B segment by developing more customized solutions.

Executives at LIFE’S GOOD AWARD Conference in South Korea

    LG-Lifes-Good-Award-Winners-01-600x400.p

SEOUL, Jan. 17, 2023 — LG Electronics (LG) has announced the final winner of its LIFE’S GOOD AWARD, supporting global innovators taking on challenges to help create a Better Life for All. The Grand Prix was awarded to Dot Inc. from South Korea.

LG’s own executives leading the company’s ESG management, CSO Lee Sam-soo and CTO Dr. Kim Byoung-hoon, were present as well.

The award embodies LG’s ESG vision of a Better Life for All, aiming to foster a brighter future for the planet and people. The company aimed to solicit ideas for environmental sustainability and accessibility, two key focuses of its long-term ESG initiative, the Better Life Plan 2030. The ingenious solutions presented by the four winners illustrate the power and potential of tech-for-good to spread positive impact on the world.

  18. LG Electronics Tennessee Plant is Selected as Industry’s First U.S.
Home Appliance Lighthouse Factory by World Economic Forum

    LG-Tennessee-Factory_main-600x400.jpg

SEOUL, Jan. 16, 2023 — LG Electronics’ (LG) home appliance manufacturing plant in the United States has been selected as a world-leading Lighthouse Factory by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The million-square-foot factory in Clarksville, Tennessee – the U.S. production base for LG’s award-winning washers and dryers – is the industry’s first home appliance plant in the United States to join the WEF’s global network. Also, it is the company’s second Lighthouse Factory, following on the heels of the LG Smart Park in Changwon, South Korea, which was selected by the WEF last year.

A “Lighthouse Factory” is recognized by the WEF for its role in shaping the future of manufacturing through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT), big data, artificial intelligence (AI), robots and other Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. Since 2018, the WEF has selected and added global factories to its network twice a year.

LG’s world-class autonomous factory in Tennessee utilizes advanced digital technologies from AI and big data to IoT and robots. Completed at the end of 2018, the facility now operates three production lines for front-load and top-load washing machines and dryers. With an annual production capacity of 1.2 million washers and 600,000 dryers, the plant proactively responds to changing North American demand through local production. More than 900 people work at the LG home appliance factory in Montgomery County, Tenn.

Featuring a complete integrated production system streamlined process to supply impeccable products to customers on time, each line carries out the entire manufacturing process of new models from making the parts to assembly and packaging. In addition, strict quality conditions are applied to all the assembly lines to heighten quality across the board, from parts to finished products.

The LG Tennessee factory boasts a fully autonomous logistics system with 166 automated guided vehicles (AGVs) that transport parts around the plant. With three times more AGVs than the LG Smart Park, these robots improve overall productivity by freeing up people for other tasks.

With the integration of parts production such as metal press processing, plastic injection molding, and painting – including LG’s own intelligent injection molding system – the company has increased component productivity by 21 percent.1 In addition, the plant recognizes and responds in advance to potential productivity issues through an advanced detection system. By applying data-based AI technology that accurately predicts washing machine performance, the number of tests and energy consumed during testing are reduced by 22 percent, while the defect rate has been reduced by more than 61 percent via quality optimization.2

The plant is also maximizing workplace safety and operational efficiency by using robots for complicated, potentially dangerous tasks, such as assembling and lifting heavy parts and welding.

To further improve efficiency, LG plans to establish a 5G connectivity network across the facility in the second half of this year, creating an environment where its many AGVs can transport materials faster and more accurately based on stable, uninterrupted communication. LG will also introduce Autonomous Mobile Robots that navigate the expansive facility with ease to enhance its logistics system.

LG’s commitment to sustainability can be seen throughout the Tennessee factory, which transitioned to renewable energy completely already in 2022. The plant also uses a high-efficiency utility infrastructure, which supplies the power, steam and heat necessary to produce LG’s home appliance products with the help of the company’s advanced Building Energy Control (BECON) solution.

“Along with the LG Smart Park, LG’s Tennessee factory represents our unmatched leadership in transforming manufacturing facilities into advanced, futuristic hubs utilizing the most revolutionary technologies,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Lighthouse Factory status exemplifies how LG continues to strive for providing differentiated customer experiences through customized manufacturing innovations.”

  19. LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_1.png

LG’s business practices and technological innovations reflect a deep-held desire to help improve people’s lives and make a positive impact on the planet. LG always believes that Life’s Good and aims to create innovative technologies and products that present exceptional values, contributing to a smarter, more convenient way of living and ultimately leading to a Better Life for All. This belief led LG to establish the LIFE’S GOOD AWARD, an innovation challenge that was held for the very first time in 2022.

     LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_2-600x421.jpg

    LIFE’S GOOD AWARD

First announced at CES 2022, the LIFE’S GOOD AWARD gave innovators from all around the world the opportunity to share their novel ideas for technology-driven solutions targeting environmental sustainability – Innovation for the Planet – or accessibility – Innovation for People.

A total of 334 entrants – individuals and groups – from 61 countries participated in LG’s inaugural innovation challenge, with four finalists chosen among them by an expert jury comprised of renowned ESG scholars, LG’s own executives and the head of LG Technology Ventures. Revealed at CES 2023, Dot Inc. and Day1Lab of South Korea, SOLUTUM of Israel and NONA Technologies of the United States will compete in a final pitching session to decide the ultimate winner.

Read on to learn about the four finalists’ innovative solutions that could help solve global challenges and how those solutions align with LG’s vision for a Better Life for All.

Innovations Creating a Better Life for All

    LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_3.png

Dot Inc.: Bridging the Information Divide for People With Visual Impairments

“We want to build bridges that connect the visually impaired to their families, and to society.”

Since 2015, South Korea’s Dot Inc. has been working on creating assistive technology for the visually impaired, such as the highly inventive Dot Braille Smartwatch. Dot Inc. has more than 120 technology patents to its name and was the winner of Titanium Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2022. The company also won Best of Innovation in the Accessibility category at CES 2023.

    LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_4.png

Dot Inc.’s entry for the LIFE’S GOOD AWARD is ‘Dot pad’, a display solution designed to bridge the information gap for the visually impaired. With 2,400 braille pins – or ‘dots’ – which move up and down, the novel device converts images, maps and other diverse digital information from connected devices such as computers and mobile phones into tactile graphics for visually impaired users to feel and comprehend. Thanks to Dot Inc.’s innovative ‘Dot Cell’ electromagnet actuator technology, the game-changing device is twenty times smaller and ten times lighter than similar types of displays currently on the market, providing a far more convenient way for sight-impaired users to find and access information.

    LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_5.png

Day1Lab: Reducing Microplastics With Biodegradable Plastic Technology

“We want to see the dawn of a plastic-free world.”

Starting life in 2021 as a research team at Korea’s Seoul National University College of Engineering, Day1Lab strives to develop alternative plastic materials to solve the global problem of microplastic waste. The environmentally focused startup has been honored with various awards, including the K-Startup Award (Prime Minister of State Award), the Environmental Entrepreneurship Idea Award (Minister of Environment Award) and the SK hynix Startup Idea Award.

    LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_6.png

For the LIFE’S GOOD AWARD, Day1Lab presented a carbohydrate complex alternative plastic solution that, according to the startup’s internal test results, completely degrades naturally in freshwater after about two weeks, and in the earth after about two months. The jury lauded Day1Lab’s waste-fighting invention, noting its superiority over petroleum-based solutions which are the current status quo for biodegradable plastic solutions. With ongoing research in biodegradable plastics for a microplastic-free world, there’s much more to come in Day1Lab’s future.

    LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_7.png

SOLUTUM: Bioplastic That Dissolves Without Toxic Residue

“What would you like to leave behind for future generations?”

SOLUTUM is an innovative clean-tech startup that, like Day1Lab, is targeting the monumental challenge of ending plastic pollution. The company has successfully developed a novel plastic material and biodegradable technologies and has been selected as a sustainability innovator by Mass Challenge, the Coller Startup Competition and Seagate.

    LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_8.png

For the LIFE’S GOOD AWARD, SOLUTUM proposed a new plastic solution that degrades naturally without leaving behind any toxins. The material decomposes almost completely (90.2 percent) when put in freshwater for 56 days, and can be produced on existing plastic assembly lines – factors that have helped SOLUTUM secure a partnership with a leading beverage company.

    LIFES-GOOD-AWARD-Finalists_9.png

NONA Technologies: Desalination Solution for Combating the Climate Crisis and Water Scarcity

“Make your own purified water anywhere.”

  21. Starting off the new year with the world’s most exciting, influential tech show, CES returned to an in-person affair with a bang after two years of coming to you in online and hybrid formats. And by gathering companies from around the world under one roof to present their most innovative products and solutions to date, it turned out to be the biggest and best edition of the trade show where we can get a first glimpse at the future of technology.

    CES-2023_01.png

This year, based on the idea that the answer is always with the customer, LG presented the meaning behind its ‘Life’s Good’ vision by demonstrating how its latest and greatest products and technologies enhance their quality of life and take the user experience to unimaginable levels.

    CES-2023_2.png

Upon entering the LG booth, visitors passed through the company’s latest gigantic OLED installation, which has become the must-see attraction at every CES event of the last decade.

    CES-2023_03.png

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of LG OLED, this year’s OLED attractor, OLED Horizon, comprised 260 flexible and open-frame 55-inch OLED displays which enabled it to take on a new, completely captivating shape inspired by revolutionary OLED’s historic legacy as much as its expansive future.

    CES-2023_4.jpg

Greeting visitors inside the booth were four ultra-large LG SIGNATURE OLED M (model M3) TVs seamlessly put together to display the most mesmerizing images as they appeared to float in mid-air, untethered by wires or cables. The world’s first 4K 120Hz TV with a wireless AV connection, M3 employs a separate Zero Connect box that enables the wireless transmitting of video and audio signals as well as connections to external devices, affording users a simpler installation process and even more freedom when designing the interior of their dream home.

    CES-Lifestyle-Zone_5_OLED-T.jpg

Another great new OLED innovation on display at CES this year, the LG OLED T is just as much a work of art as it is a display, thanks to a beautiful combination of glass, wood and revolutionary transparent screen technology.

    CES-2023_5.jpg

Featuring a wireless AV connection and the ability to see through its high-resolution screen, even when in use, the LG OLED T provides a multi-mix of reality and fantasy that harmonizes on-screen content with physical objects or spaces to create the content of the future.

    CES-2023_6.png

The LG space was also home to other new OLED TVs, like the LG Micro LED model that delivers unprecedented cinematic viewing experiences courtesy of its massive 136-inch 4K resolution screen and rapid 120Hz refresh rate. With a modular design that makes installation and set-up quick and easy, each tile connects wirelessly to eliminate the hassle of arranging multiple cables. Just a few meters away, the ultra-premium LG SIGNATURE OLED 8K TV (model 88Z3) delivered CES attendees the realistic visuals that must be seen to be believed through the detailed, razor-sharp image quality that its giant 88-inch display supports.

    CES-2023_7.jpg

Visitors could also discover how LG OLED TVs synchronize with people’s unique lifestyles and tastes, with a special room that utilized the company’s 97-inch LG OLED M, LG Soundbar (model S95QR) and projection displays to illustrate a new, incredibly immersive multi-screen experience as well as a look into the multi-sensory possibilities of today and tomorrow.

    CES-2023_8.jpg

The power of OLED was not limited to the company’s TVs either. Equipped with the world’s first 240Hz OLED panel, LG’s latest premium UltraGear™ gaming monitors – in new 27- and 45-inch sizes – deliver a record-breaking response time of 0.03 milliseconds (Gray-to-Gray). With an immersion-enhancing 800R curvature, the show-stopping 45-inch model harnesses the immense potential of OLED with a 240Hz refresh rate that guarantees total gaming immersion every time.

    CES-2023_9.jpg

Also celebrating 10 years since the first gram was introduced to the world, LG marked the occasion by revealing two 2023 LG gram models at CES. The thinnest gram ever made, LG gram Ultraslim weighs just 998 grams and boasts a depth of 10.99 millimeters. Also, LG gram Style laptops, which come in 14 and 16 inches, boast an elegant glass design that makes it easier to express their unique style at home, in the office and on the go.

    CES-2023_10-scaled.jpg

Introducing new products that provide extraordinary brand experiences based on experimental ideas and bold designs, LG Labs made its debut at CES 2023. As a new product within LG, the zone featured fresh new products and prototypes – pluspot, Monshoecl, brid.zzz, hover gym and excicle – that visitors could all experience in-person.

    CES-2023_11.jpg

The Better Life for All zone highlighted the company’s continuing commitment and efforts to achieve sustainability. This includes the eco-friendly practices it has applied from product design to disposal, as well as the multiple design innovations it has made to ensure everyone, no matter their ability, can easily enjoy the endless benefits and convenience provided by cutting-edge LG products.

    ESG-Zone_3.png

Not only is LG striving to be the most sustainable company, but also the most accessible. This is why visitors could listen to their way around the large LG booth as well as all the major content that was created exclusively for this occasion. Every zone even provided braille inscriptions for the visually impaired.

    CES-2023_014.jpg

Embarking on a new era of premium appliances with leading-edge performance and exquisitely refined designs, LG introduced its second generation of LG SIGNATURE products including OLED R, Dual InstaView™ refrigerator, a washer and dryer pair, air conditioner, air purifier and the Wine Cellar.

    CES-2023_15.jpg

Another eye-catching zone was dedicated to its LG MoodUP™ refrigerators, which exuded an array of vivid colors that captivated CES attendees. First unveiled at IFA 2022, this unique refrigerator can express the user’s unique personality, mood or style by transforming the kitchen’s ambiance by switching through a wide palette of door colors and providing music streaming to “turn your MoodUP.”

    CES-2023_16.jpg

Finally, the Lifestyle Zone was divided into three different sections based on the household’s distinct persona: creator, big family as well as the newlyweds and pet lover. Especially the Creator’s Room, designed with the famous New York-based designer Jeff Staple, presented the perfect space for trendsetters and creators, with LG ARTCOOL™ Gallery air conditioner, WashTower™, Styler™ and the advantages of LG ThinQ more than enough to satisfy their individual tastes and preferences.

    CES-2023_17-1.jpg

Within the family zone, LG created a smart home fully equipped with advanced, large-capacity appliances supporting LG ThinQ Care Service and ThinQ UP. Meanwhile, the zone for newlyweds and pet lovers utilized diverse products such as LG WashTower, PuriCare Aero Furniture and tiiun which all boast trendy yet minimalist designs, are made from recycled materials and show off incredible features that make them easy to use by people of all abilities.

  22. Trees are vital. There is no denying how trillions of trees around the world are central to all life on Earth. Not only do Mother Nature’s skyscrapers provide clean, fresh air and cozy habitats to thousands of living species, but they also help us combat climate change and preserve biodiversity for many decades to come.

    LG-Indonesia-Planting-Trees-01.png

In ensuring that this legacy can be passed onto future generations, LG Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Conservation of Natural Resources Jakarta to celebrate their 32 years of operation in Indonesia. For this purpose, the company pledged to plant 32,000 trees across Jakarta, Kalimantan and Sumatra by April 2023.

LG-Indonesia-Planting-Trees-02.png Jay Jang, director of marketing and relations at LG Electronics Indonesia,
shaking hands with Abdul Kodir, head of the Conservation of Natural Resources Jakarta

This initiative sheds light on LG’s commitment to environmental sustainability in Indonesia in the same fashion as the company’s eco-friendly solutions, products and technologies, including their energy-saving inverter technology, which helps customers achieve a more eco-conscious lifestyle by improving energy efficiency. Incorporated into a wide range of household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners, this cutting-edge inverter provides users with peace of mind as they are able to easily manage their ecological footprints.

However, LG’s efforts toward environmental sustainability extend well beyond the tree-planting initiative. The company’s technological interventions also complement its commitment to reach carbon neutrality by 2030, through the minimization of carbon emissions and footprints across the overall process, from production to disposal.

Staying true to the company’s commitment and vision to boost accessibility for all, the company has actively started incorporating measures to increase accessibility this year. This commitment was on full display during LG’s press conference, which was streamed live on January 4, with a sign language interpreter displayed in the bottom right corner to allow its hearing-impaired viewers to follow along at home or wherever they may have been.

Not only that, LG’s accessibility efforts stood out above and beyond at the on-site booth as well, with the company inviting Edward Tory Jarmailo, a sign language interpreter, on site to provide ASL interpretation for attendees with hearing problems in person.

Moreover, in the Better Life for All zone, informational materials were provided in braille for those with visual impairments and placed at a height that enables easy reading for people using wheelchairs.

Visitors with visual and hearing impairments weren’t shy about expressing their appreciation for the various accessibility features LG provided at its expansive booth. “It was amazing to see so many positive reactions during my time working in LG’s CES booth. I remember one visitor coming to our booth for a second time, but this time with a friend,” said Mr. Jarmailo. “I’m always delighted to play my part in promoting a new level of accessibility with LG, a brand that puts equal importance on every individual’s experience at large trade shows like CES, and we can see these efforts reflected in their products and services too.”
