LG Ads, the company's advertising arm, has announced River OS which is a new Smart TV operating system built on ads and personalization. The first River OS-based Smart TVs will ship in late 2021.

LG said that it has already lined up multiple OEM partners. The first River OS-powered Smart TVs will ship in India by the end of 2021, and in the US and elsewhere sometime in 2022. - "Our current OEM partners include LG, Sharp, Hisense, Toshiba, Seiki, Skyworth, Tivo, and Sling Media, with over 10 more OEMs committed to joining us in 2021," the company said.

River OS will have a personalized home screen with content and ads tailored to the specific user through profiling. All device, input, channel, and app switching in the Smart TV is handled by River OS, which will also have deep integration of voice control. - "With streaming dominating viewing time today, it’s still too hard for people to find, discover and enjoy the programs they want to watch, across literally thousands of content sources available. River OS solves that challenge in an elegant way and delivers new, fully voice-controlled smart TV features that consumers will find innovative and essential. And we’re able to package ad-supported content in a way that allows our OEM partners to deliver a high-quality product at an affordable price point," said John Gee, chief business development officer for LG Ads.

RiverOS

The company's new alternative TV operating system was created by LG Ads Solutions, which is a partnership between LG and Alphonso. LG acquired a controlling stake in Alphonso in January 2021. - "Content partners and brand advertisers will have a rich array of interactive native ad formats, including home screen takeovers, for engaging consumers on the largest screen in the house. Native ads enable viewers to easily click through the ad units to trailers, videos, microsites, and other experiences," said LG Ads Solutions with reference to River OS-powered Smart TVs. Also read: LG's webOS 6.0 platform for 2021 TVs has a redesigned homescreen It is unclear what River OS means for the future of LG's webOS that has already taken a turn toward ads and personalization in version 6.0 that comes pre-installed on LG's 2021 LCD and OLED TVs. LG said that "major content streaming services and apps will be readily available on River OS-powered TVs", which could suggest that there is a link to webOS.

After a number of years innovating the robotics space, the lineup has evolved into ‘your best partner’ with a wide range of solutions that include LG CLOi ServeBot, LG CLOi GuideBot and LG CLOi CarryBot, powered by AI technology.

’s independent suspension is implemented to all six wheels to ensure stable maneuverability across uneven floors. This enables the CLOi ServeBot to securely transport beverages and meals, including soups and noodles, even when travelling over surfaces with a slope of up to 5 millimeters (0.2 inches). And fully equipped with a LiDAR sensor and 3D camera, this technology lets the CLOi ServeBot navigate obstacles smoothly, ensuring that none of its valuable “cargo” is upset.
Offering next-level convenience to restaurant owners, LG CLOi ServeBot runs for 11 hours on a full charge and can be charged both automatically and manually. The latest model offers even more services, which means it can now carry out its serving duties and assist business owners with various tasks.

With its expanded tray size, the latest LG CLOi ServeBot now holds up to 40 kilograms, enabling it to transport all the dishes needed for western cuisine, which typically uses heavy tableware, or Korean cuisine, which comprises several side dishes. Extremely adaptable, the advanced robot’s trays can be completely removed or height adjusted to match different environments or applications. It even knows when the customer has picked up their plate so it can head straight back to the kitchen. On the other hand, if the tray is left full of tableware, then it automatically returns to its designated area.
LG CLOi ServeBot also provides entertainment including a CMS (Content Management System) that lets users upload content via their mobile device. Through its 10-inch display, customers waiting to be seated are shown the menu and entertaining videos to be pass the time. Additionally, android apps can be installed according to preference.

Going beyond its service robots, LG is proactively responding to the increasing need for robots in industrial settings with robotic innovations that boost productivity and quality in the manufacturing process. The company provides a variety of solutions that can be used to automate the warehouse.

LG unveiled its latest industrial robots at MODEX 2024, the largest supply chain logistics trade show in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. This included the new LG CLOi CarryBot family of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), which are specially designed to navigate complex floor plans and deliver payloads in customizable configurations.

LG showcased two versions of LG CLOi CarryBot: a featuring two shelves which is ideal for smaller packages and navigating tight spaces, and a capable of carrying heavy loads on its back. This practical machine can quickly transport goods in large logistics sites at speeds of up to 1.2 meters per second, while providing stable driving by applying ‘Fast-X,’ LG’s autonomous driving technology optimized for logistics environments, including average driving and curve speed as well as acceleration and deceleration control.

In fact, the company has innovated a number of solutions to enhance factory efficiency. ‘Mobile Manipulator’ an autonomous driving-based vertical articulated robot that mimics human arm movements. Unlike conventional robots that usually carry out the same task repeatedly, Mobile Manipulators move around production lines and carry out various tasks such as transportation, product assembly and inspection. Another solution is LG’s low-floor AMRs, industrial logistics robots that can carry 500 kilograms from A to B with very little assistance, which not only makes production efficient but safe too.

New Styler Features a Handheld, High-Pressure Steamer, the
Dynamic Moving Hanger and the Dual TrueSteam Technology

SEOUL, Jan. 3, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling its advanced, new LG Styler clothing care solution at CES 2024. Incorporating a handheld, high-pressure steamer, the Dynamic Moving Hanger and Dual TrueSteam technology, the latest Styler delivers faster and more effective clothes-refreshing cycles with improved drying, dehumidification and de-wrinkling performance.
A first for the LG Styler lineup, the new model features a handheld, high-pressure steamer that makes it easier to remove wrinkles from shirts and other garments, and saves the hassle of having to use a separate iron. Users can simply hang their wrinkled clothes inside the door, take out the steamer attached to the bottom of the Styler, and initiate the steam process with the press of a button. The steamer employs powerful, high-pressure steam to penetrate garments, leaving them smooth and soft, significantly reducing the need for ironing.1 Moreover, the compact size of the high-pressure handy steamer enhances convenience and allows for easy storage inside the Styler.
Implementing the exclusive Dynamic Moving Hanger system, LG Styler can provide tailored care for various types of garments and fabrics. Unlike its predecessor – the Moving Hanger, which simply moved side-to-side for dust removal – the new system provides a delicate and powerful garment care. It boasts enhanced dust removal, deodorization,2 drying and wrinkle mitigation with a twisting motion, a rotating mechanism. It also contributes to Styler’s upgraded cycles, such as the Fine Dust cycle, which twists and shakes up to 350 times per minute to remove large and fine dust particles from clothing.3
A key feature of the new Styler is LG’s Dual TrueSteam technology. Instead of a single heater, Dual TrueSteam employs two heaters to boil water and generate steam, allowing for more precise control of the steam spray’s volume and strength. The course for delicate fabrics such as silk and cashmere utilizes only one of the system’s two heaters, delivering gentle fabric care through optimized steam-flow control. Dual TrueSteam also enables the Styler’s Sanitary cycle, a specialized cycle that keeps clothes hygienically clean by eliminating over 99.99 percent of the germs and 11 different kinds of harmful bacteria. 4
Additionally, LG’s latest clothing care solution has a built-in ventilation system to automatically circulate air throughout the room. It also offers a dehumidification function that can collect up to 10 liters of moisture5 from the room without opening the door of the Styler; ensuring a pleasant indoor environment and preventing clothes from becoming damp after being ‘refreshed by Styler.’
For convenient management, the new Styler’s time-saving Pants Press adopts an upgraded hanging structure that enables sharper, wrinkle-free creases. What’s more, the new Styler has an intuitive-to-use LCD touchscreen that makes course selection quick and easy.
“The new LG Styler is a versatile clothing care solution that ensures optimal care for diverse fabrics, and optimal convenience for our customers,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “The pioneer in clothing care systems, LG will continue to enhance LG Styler’s capabilities, redefining wardrobe management and making it easier than ever to keep clothes looking and smelling fresh.”
Visitors to CES 2024 from January 9-12 can experience all of LG’s latest innovations, including the new LG Styler, at the company’s booth (#16008, Las Vegas Convention Center). To keep up with all of LG’s exciting announcements at CES, visit

1 Tested by Korea Apparel Testing & Research Institute (KATRI) using built-in high-pressure handy steamer in new LG Styler on a cotton business shirt. Visible wrinkles were reduced by 50 percent.
2 Tested by Korea Apparel Testing & Research Institute (KATRI) using the Refresh cycle of the new LG Styler on a cotton business shirt according to KS K 0891:2014 standard.
3 Based on LG internal test results, the revolutions per minutes (RPM) of Dynamic Moving Hanger of the new LG Styler ranges from 120 to 350 depending on the cycles. Results may differ depending on actual usages and environmental factors.
4 According to Intertek research, the Sanitary cycle eliminates 99.99 percent of 11 types of viruses, including influenza A viruses (H1N1, H3N2), influenza B virus, Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis virus (IBRV), Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PED), Porcine Entero A virus, Human Coronavirus OC43, Infectious Canine Hepatitis Virus, Human Rota virus, Hepatitis A virus and Rhino virus. A recent experiment conducted by KATRI also demonstrated the effectiveness of the Sanitary cycle in neutralizing bedbugs.
5 Based on LG internal test results, the LG Styler’s dehumidification feature collects 10 liters of moisture per 24 hours, measured in an enclosed space with a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and 60 percent humidity (LG Styler door opened at an angle of 45 degrees or greater). Dehumidification performance may vary based on the usage environment.
