How to update firmware

Hello,

 

I have LG tv with webos 04.00.40. Model 40UF7787-ZA

 

In lg.com

link hidden, please login to view

 

I see new version 04.20.50. When I download this file, unzip, place in my USB key fordel, named LG_DTV,  nothing happens on tv.

 

TV won`t update from USB key, or from automatic update. Why? Can You help me.

I have the same model as you - 55UF7787-ZA. Today I've also got update to 04.00.70

If you look at the LG website you won't even find this firmware version. Only the two you've mentioned in your first post. So dont expect much from the website :)

I also tried earlier to update to 04.20.50 via USB and it also didn't work. It relly anoyed me. Later on I've found on the lg's software page that there is a link "View More" below firmware download link, and when you click it you can see the list of all supported models.

And for some (probably stupid) reason our model is not listed there. Pay attention to the last two letters of the model - "ZA" - that one you wont find in the list. But if you look under 04.00.40 - you will find our model.

And now everybody is getting 05.00.50... It seems that we were wront to buy this model....

By the way, can you see the Netflix app in the app store?

no, I don`t have Netflix. In my other LG model netflix installed automatically. But I do`n need netflix because I like watching only new cinema movies and not in english.

 

Do You like this TV? It very slow.. And I see frames when watching fast video.

 

Maybe we can change model letters from "ZA" (South Africa) to "UK"?

If you asked me this 2-3yr ago I would say yes I like it. But know, I do not like it at all - as I had different expectations when I was buying it. The the reviews said that 2015 models have much faster procesors and superior screens. And what I've seen is slow menus and channel switching, as well as some stupid bugs / issues. Not to speak about completly bad customer support (site is just...), bad built quality (I've noticed that the panel is moving when applying minimal pressure to clean the dust), missing app support and strange firmware update cycles. I wouldn't buy it again...

I did not know that "ZA" stands for South Africa. I live in Montenegro - in West Balkans, so its quite strange to me. Maybe the TV fell of the truck and right into the retailers store :) it isn't unlikely in my country :(

Only way that I know to switch the model is to return it. In my country it is not possible to return something you purchased unless it is malfunctioning. Maybe it could be forc flashed with some other firmware - but it's a gamble I am not prepare to take :)

What can I say about this model: Very slow. Slow channel swiching. Bad picture: I see frames in fast videos. Remote control not comfortable. Don`t remember my audio language channel choise (every time when I switch channel, need to swich audio). UHD playing is horrible. It`s last time when I buy LG. I live in Lithuania.

Yes quite slow. Quite bad picture. You can improve it a bit by selecting Expert picture mode and messing around with additional settings, but this is limited. You can't make bad thing look good - only a bit better :)

I don't have the issue you mentioned. In settings there is an option to select first and second default audio language. Did you try that?

      Up until a few days ago my TV and AVR have been working perfectly since I bought it.
      Zero hassles with HDMI and connectivity.
      Then I was prompted to update to the latest software version which I did and now often when I switch HDMI (running on 1) it picks up the device name, CEC works but I get “No Signal”… and then nothing.
      Just stays on “No Signal”. It is almost as if some HDMI handshake breaks and now the driver is in a broken state.
      I’ve found that if I hard power off and power on the device sometimes works but I don’t want to do that every time especially since it’s hard to get to the power.
      This really strikes me as a software issue with the latest update as absolutely nothing else has changed in my setup.
      I’ve tried:
      Different HDMI cables (high quality) Deep colour settings Reset the TV to factory default Different HDMI ports TV
      Model: OLED65G26LA / OLED65G26LA.HFBQLWK WebOS TV Version: 8.3.0.2301 Software Version: 13.30.56 AVR & Devices
      Marantz SR5015 Nvidia Shield Pro PS5
        The setup is the conventional AVR installation as shown in the attached file

       
      Has anyone else experienced this? 
      Is it possible to revert the software update?

      webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
      I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
      Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

      Automatic Firmware Update
      Press the Home/Smart button on your remote to bring up your launcher bar.
      Click the Settings icon in the top-right.
      Choose the All Settings option at the bottom.
      Choose the General menu from the left.
      Scroll down, near the bottom of the list, and select About this TV.
      From here, make sure Allow automatic updates is checked, and click the Check for updates button.
      If an update is found, follow the steps on screen to download and install it.

      Hello,
      I have a problem with my new LG OLED G2 newest version 4 firmware.
      I tried sorting my satellite channels with chansort programm from github, because sorting them with the tv remote is a pain.
      When I try to sort them with the remote and have selected about 10 or more channels all the selected channels get suddenly getting deselected, so I can only select up to 10 at a time  to 
      sort them -> must be some kind of firmwarebug? 
      After exporting the channellist to a usb stick then editing it with chansort an importing it back into the tv all my channels are gone, all transponderns are deleted.
      First I thought it was a charsort problem but all channels and transponders get also deleted when I simply export them to a usb drive an import them back, without editing the file at all.
      Does someone know how to fix this problem? 
      And yes I´ve done multiple factory resets -> did not fix any of this behaviour.
      I also discoverd another bug the deletes all channels, because I needed to reboot the tv I searched for a reboot option in the tvs menu, but there is no reboot option.
      To do a full reboot (except from forcing it through cutting the tvs power) you can deselect the privicy agreements, after that the tv reboots, but then all channels are gone too.

      We have two LG TV's that stopped connecting to our PLEX media server after the last update. TImes out saying "Checking connection speed to Raspberrypi" which the PLEX is on
      Upgraded the Mesh Routers before trying anything, still only the PLEX app doesn't work
      Our other TCL TV and Roku and TIVO still work with Plex, so this is only the LG TV's that can't connect anymore.
      Another annoying error after the last update is that any Streaming app (Amazon, Netflix, and DIsney) now fall out of the app and go back to HDMI port 1 if we pause for 30 seconds.  Which we have always done for a Bathroom break or getting drinks.
