Thanks @wiz2003 for the reference to Emby - I'll give it a try, it seems to be available on Samsung TV too. Would you say it's better than Plex, which is the other solution I find regularly mentioned as an alternative? Plex is OK, but I find DSVideo is snappier and crashes less for me (again, on 5 years old Samsung TV - I don't know yet about how it's running on an LG with WebOS)

I'm considering replacing my Samsung TV by an LG, but honestly, I cannot be without DSVideo... please make it happen
