Just make sure we are talking about the same home theater model... and you should be good to go.

I updated the bh5140s home theater by downloading the current firmware into a usb flash drive ... instructions and firmware found here: http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-BH5140S So far no further issues.

I also updated the home theater drivers via the usb port... forgot to mention.

The solution I've found is to turn off the tv sound and simplynk options on the home theater box.... the competing settings between the television and the home theater system are causing the disruption. .. so let the tv control it all.
