I think their reasoning for this is that it replaces the HUE synch box which costs even more than 130. A positive side to the app is that you would be able to use the TV's own mediaplayer apps with ambilight which is not possible with the sync box as it needs an external source for playback.

Signify has now released a Hue sync app for recent Samsung TV's. It is up to LG to follow up on this for recent LG models.

Btw, the adds on this LG site are messing up everything. The screen keeps jumping and it's even hard to type a reply. Why are there adds on a userforum?

No more need to buy a Philips Ambilight TV if LG would implement a Hue Sync app. I sure do hope that there is no restrictive agreement on that subject between Philips and LG. 

This would be a great idea for my C8!
