PreCentral: Pair the HP Wireless keyboard to a TouchPad

Recommended Posts

This tip is only for those using a TouchPad and the official HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard

Pair HP wireless keyboardWhile you can use just about any Bluetooth keyboard with your TouchPad, there are a lot of benefits of using the official HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard that was released alongside the tablet. In addition to some unique webOS keys on the device that will improve your webOS experience, the process of actually pairing the device is incredibly easy and will take only a matter of seconds to complete.

To pair your keyboard with your TouchPad:

  1. Ensure that your Bluetooth keyboard is turned off before you start (with the keyboard laying face down, the power button on the back should be pushed to the left)
    •  This is important since the keyboard will only try to pair to a device for 1 minute after it's turned on
  2. from the top-right corner of the TouchPad's screen to bring up the Device menu and choose Bluetooth, then Bluetooth Preferences
  3. If Bluetooth is not already turned on, toggle the ON/OFF switch to turn it on
  4. Press the "+ Add Device" and then select "Keyboard" from the "TYPE" dropdown list
  5. Turn your Bluetooth keyboard on (with the keyboard laying face down, the power button on the back should be pushed to the right)
  6. The TouchPad should search for the device and find it within a few seconds
  7. Tap "HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard" under the FOUND DEVICES section and you are done

Congrats, your keyboard has now been paired to the TouchPad for you to use. Note that after a short period of inactivity, the keyboard will power down and disconnect from the TouchPad. However, you just need to tap any key on the keyboard and it should automatically reconnect, as long as the TouchPad's Bluetooth is turned on

I was trying to connect My LG TV as a wireless display, just as on this video:
Unfortunately it works only first time until disconnecting. To reconnect I need to restart TV, sometimes a few times. Sometimes TV is not detectable at all. How it works for you?

Connecting my headset to my TV is such a hassle, way too many steps. Every time I have to:
open settings scroll to audio scroll to bluetooth pick select a device, which opens another window navigate to my headset (multiple uses of arrow keys) select my headset hit back button multiple times to get out of window This very bad UX.
How it should work: At step 3 once Bluetooth is selected the TV should connect to the last connected Bluetooth device. Done.

So LG has put webOS on TVs, projectors, and now cars with webos auto. Does anyone thing LG will ever produce a webos powered smartphone or tablet? I know samsung has tried with tizen and it was only with the palm pre 2 and touchpad from HP that we saw webos on these types of devices. Just curious on what everyone thingks. Here's what webos used to look like..

Hi, I have a feature request for the sound out setting. I often connect my Bluetooth headphones to the TV. We don't use the internal speaker of the TV, we use the optical sound out setting whenever I don't use Bluetooth. It would make our lives a lot easier if the TV can remember the last sound out setting before connecting to Bluetooth and default back to this setting when the Bluetooth device gets disconnected. At the moment, each time I disconnect the headphones I have to go back into settings and change the sound out setting from internal speaker to optical again.
      Thanks and regards
