Xfinity Stream Now Available On LG TVs

PHILADELPHIA, PA AND ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ

Customers can now access the live, On Demand, and DVR programming included with their Xfinity TV subscription on LG 4K Ultra HD and HD smart TVs.

Comcast and LG Electronics USA today announced the launch of the Xfinity Stream beta app for 2019, 2018, and 2017 LG Smart TVs. Xfinity Stream gives customers the ability to access the live, on demand, and cloud DVR programming included with their Xfinity TV subscription on LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs—led by the critically acclaimed LG OLED and LG NanoCell TVs— and HD Smart TVs, without the need to lease a traditional set-top box.

With Xfinity Stream on LG 4K Ultra HD and Standard HD Smart TVs, Xfinity TV customers can browse and enjoy the Emmy Award-winning X1 guide, featuring rich and immersive graphics and imagery. Other features include quick access to their most recently watched programming; easy to set up parental controls; one-of-a-kind destinations for TV shows, movies, sports, kids, and more that make browsing and discovering programming seamless; and the ability to access and scroll through the guide on the same screen while watching live programming.

LG is a member of the Xfinity TV Partner Program, launched to expand the range of retail devices Xfinity TV customers can use to access the programming that is included with their subscription on the television in the home. All content within Xfinity Stream for participating partner program devices is delivered over Comcast’s secure private managed network, enabling customers to access and enjoy their cable service on devices like LG Smart TVs, without the need to lease a traditional set-top box from Comcast.

LG OLED TVs set a new standard for TV performance delivering stellar picture quality, perfect black, vibrant images, accurate colors and wide viewing angles all in a sleek package with ultra-thin bezels and in more large-screen options this year than ever before. The 2019 LG OLED TV lineup features screen sizes ranging from 55 to 77-inch class options.

    • Question: gigabit ethernet on smart TV

Hello, Is there any way of installing an usb gigabit network adapter on a webos smart TV?  The builtin wired adapter is only 100mbps (on a 2000$+ TV, shame  on you LG!!!)  while the wifi (N) is very poor, with the router at 1m from TV it only gets half the bandwidth of the wired network. Anyway the wired network  maxes out near 100mbps but I need more bandwidth as I have 4k video content with bitrates grater than 100mbps which I cannot stream without stuttering to TV through XPLAY/PLEX.

Live, On Demand and Cloud DVR Programming will be Accessible Via Xfinity TV Partner App on LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs
LG Joins the Xfinity TV Partner Program PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 25, 2017
Comcast and LG Electronics USA today announced Xfinity TV customers will be able to access their cable service via the Xfinity TV Partner app on 2017 and 2018 LG webOS Smart TVs beginning in 2018.
Featuring the Emmy Award-winning X1 guide, the app will allow Xfinity TV customers to watch live and on demand programming, including local broadcast and Public, Educational and Governmental channels, as well as their cloud DVR recordings, delivered over Comcast’s secure private managed network on LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TVs led by the critically acclaimed LG OLED and LG SUPER UHD TVs.
“With our award-winning webOS user experience, Comcast customers will be able to take advantage of an easy-to-use interface and fast application performance on 2017 and 2018 webOS-enabled TVs,” said Matt Durgin, Head of Content Innovation for LG Electronics USA. “Working with Comcast will bring these experiences to our customers so they can seamlessly enjoy their favorite content on our award-winning 4K Ultra HD TV line-up without the need for a set-top box.”
Comcast launched the Xfinity TV Partner Program last year to expand the range of retail devices Xfinity TV customers can use to access the programming that is included with their subscription. Leveraging open standard HTML5 technology, the Xfinity TV Partner Program provides a common framework that smart TV, TV-connected and IP-enabled retail device manufacturers can use to develop an Xfinity TV Partner app for their device so that Xfinity TV customers can access their cable service in their homes without the need to lease a set-top box from Comcast.
“We remain committed to giving Xfinity TV customers more options for watching their favorite programming in the home, so we’re thrilled to partner with LG to bring our app to their TVs,” said Michael Gatzke, Vice President, Video Subscription Services, Comcast Cable. "We recognize that today’s consumers are looking for more choices in how, when and where they access their entertainment, and via partners like LG we can expand the range of devices they can use in the home to do just that.”
Comcast expects to launch a beta of the Xfinity TV Partner app on LG Smart TVs, starting with 2017 models, early next year.
All LG Smart TV models feature the latest generation of LG’s highly-acclaimed webOS Smart TV platform, which makes finding and switching between limitless content options – including broadcast TV, streaming services, a growing library of 4K and HDR programming and external devices – simple and fast.
