I DO NOT ASK THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS POSSIBLE ... the intelligent electric circuitry inside uses the drivers configured optimally for itself. Then, over time, they update. For what you want, you need to have the source code then you can develop it. Also, you know the code where it was assembled ... success

isn't there any plan for upgrade old LG tv to the new os(web os) BY LG???
I check my tv for update more than 1 year and no new update on it !!!!
the smart section isn't smart - for exp web browser is very bad (it can't open a website - freeze )

web os or android os is the suitable cases for this problem.
I must use raspberry pie 3 for use web browser on my tv

Hi Daniel,

It is highly unlikely that old LG NetCast televisions will get an upgrade to webOS.  The two main reasons are:

1. Hardware - The NetCast televisons run different chipsets and memory meaning reprogramming webOS to cover these units, which leads on to reason 2

2. There is no money in it for LG.  Quite simply; why would LG spend the money to do the conversion when there is no profit centre in it for them?  They would much prefer you purchase a new set from them.

    • Question: gigabit ethernet on smart TV

Hello, Is there any way of installing an usb gigabit network adapter on a webos smart TV?  The builtin wired adapter is only 100mbps (on a 2000$+ TV, shame  on you LG!!!)  while the wifi (N) is very poor, with the router at 1m from TV it only gets half the bandwidth of the wired network. Anyway the wired network  maxes out near 100mbps but I need more bandwidth as I have 4k video content with bitrates grater than 100mbps which I cannot stream without stuttering to TV through XPLAY/PLEX.

I recently bought an 50LB650V-ZN and as they have been out for a while i assumed it woukd need updating straight away.
ive connected it to the internet and when i click check for update i get the message 'Unable to check for updates'

i also bought a magic remote and after about 5 minutes of using it a pop up will appear saying 'failed to update magic remote' then the magic remote will turn off and stop working until i remove the batteries and put them back in again.

ive asked at the shop where i bought it and they say the TV should need updating straight away as its been available for about 8 months and that the magic remote doesnt actually update, only the software on the tv will update to support the magic remote.

ive tried to download the software update from the lg website but cant get the files to unzip so my tv doesnt recognise the files.

anyone come accross this problem before or know how to fix it? any help would be appreciated
      thanks

I've got a 47LB650V and at the beginning of the month the TV was upgraded to the latest firmware. The upgrade went okay, however, since then anything played through the HDMI channels, the audio goes out of sync and its frustrating, not even the audio sync settings help. I have to change from HDMI to Live TV, then back to HDMI to resync it. It happens on Bluray, Wii U and Satellite, and is very annoying. Any solutions?
