Apple's HLS doesn't work on LG WebOS TV emulator 2.0

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am able to playback VOD content on WebOS TV emulator 2.0 using my iOS app.

However, when I am trying to playback LIVE stream, I don't observe changes on the emulator.

I am using Connect SDK for iOS.

I read that mime type should be "video/hls" - but it didn't help to me.

Also, I saw that it's possible to playback HLS using web app on real TV.

How to play LIVE stream on the emulator using Connect SDK ?

Where can I get Emulators' logs to understand what is happening?

Thx

OK accoring with FAQ it is possible to play HLS, see please

.

Also it is said that CODECS should have one value for audio-only streams.

In my case the file(playlist) is:

#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1002,BANDWIDTH=220000,CODECS="mp4a.40.5, avc1.42e01e"  ### -- 2 values not audio only stream
link hidden, please login to view
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1002,BANDWIDTH=370000,CODECS="mp4a.40.5, avc1.42e01e"
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1002,BANDWIDTH=700000,CODECS="mp4a.40.5, avc1.42e01e"
#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1002,BANDWIDTH=64000,CODECS="mp4a.40.5" ###- audio only stream with one value

So it should work, branches with 2 CODECS are not audio only streams, the last line displays audio only stream with one CODEC.

Why it doesn't work?

Since this update the Apple TV 4K can no longer connect to Dolby via HDMI.  Immediately prior to this update - it worked.
Now, if you attempot to connect and set it to Dolby - the screen flashes the Apple TV screen on and off - it can't stabilze.
This happened immdeiately after the update.
Can I revert back to the prior software?  Or, can you send me a version that does not have this issue.

      Dear LG WebOS team,
Now that Disney+ Hotstar service is officially available in Malaysia, why is the app still not available here?
I can see the app in the content store when I change the service location to India, but not when it's Malaysia. Can you please provide the app in Malaysia as well?

      Hi,

I was tying to change the settings on our LG TV to enable it for HD channel reception. We found instructions on the net to configure the "area option" in the hidden menu, however, they did not work. So, we thought that we need to change the country group to be able to receive the HD channels. Although we could not change the "country group code" from 20 to an arbitrary number, we change it to 10. After that, we have not been able to change it anymore. It is struck there. I know this is ridiculous, but an LG TV expert who is working in LG customer services told us that I could not change it either and we need to replace the IC. I shocked why with a simple change in one of the TV parameters, everything is got complicated.

In details, here is the picture of the parameters currently set on the LG TV with the model number of 49LH549V-TD:

Please tell me why I could not set the "country group code" to 20 once again? It is gray meaning that is unchangeable. Any ideas will be appreciated.

      Best regards
      Alizadeh

      Hi,
When we try to play HLS stream in production app in LG tv (some models LG 49UH652V , LG UK6700PVD) it enters into infinite buffering state. In debug mode using webOSIDE could see `loadedmetadata` event is not getting triggered by video-player.
It works randomly says 1 in 10 attempts able to play the content.
I tried with youtube and other apps as well, looks like all the LIVE streams are entering into infinite buffering state.
Can you please advice why live streams (HLS) are not playable in some LG TV's?  Is there any work around to resolve this issue? Please assist.
      Regards,
      Indrani

      Hi,

Just trying to get a clear picture on what Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) content formats are supported and what DRMs are supported for each content format on LG Webos smart TVs.
I am wondering if the  information on
link hidden, please login to view  is up to date, as if so then LG is so far behind the market... I'll list my questions:
      1. the page says that HLS is supported, but only with Verimatrix. is this true?
      2. the page does not specify that HSS or DASH are supported. is this true?
      3. the page says that WV is supported only its "classic" version and not the new "modular" version. is this true?
      4. the page says that PlayReady is supported, but there is no mentioning of which content format it can be supported with. Does someone know the answer for this?

Thanks for any info on this.
      M.
