  1. I was hoping to use the dedicated sound card with AV cable which should have a better sound quality, but that is better than no sound at all, thanks!

Another question, has anyone run into brightness being reduced automatically? Doesn't happen with fast changing images like gaming or watching movies, occurs every time when image doesn't change much like browsing internet forums. Very insidious, because the change is so gradual and slow you don't notice it until 10 minutes later you go - crap, I can't see the text any more! Reverts to normal brightness on a fast screen change, say alt-tabbing to another window with big pictures.

Picture mode standard (User). Eco mode is off. Energy saving off. Eye comfort mode off. Black level low. Motion eye care off. Dynamic contrast/color off and greyed out. Gamma medium. OLED LIGHT 0. Brightness 50. (Weird, both settings seem to do the same thing, adjusts brightness)

I went over every picture setting a few times and for all that seem to fiddle with brightness turned them off but it still happens.

I think the HDMI sound output is digital over the cable to TV so the sound quality will depend on the TV end.

  2. I have connected my PC using a HDMI cable from my PC video cards HDMI out to TV HDMI in.

I would also love to get the sound to TV internal speaker and this has been quite the challenge for me. I connected sound cards RC jacks to TVs A/V in yellow jack at the back, and now I can either choose HDMI and get picture, or AV and get sound, but not both.

Opening Device Connector and choosing connect PC only allows picking HDMI as source.

There is some kind of multi-view program where I can choose HDMI and AV but as soon as I click HDMI full screen button the sound disappears.

Tried HDMI1 and HDMI2(ARC), no difference.

Tried getting latest software update, no changes.

Tried calling local LG service number, they weren't very helpful.

Surely I'm overlooking something simple? There has to be a way to turn the sound from A/V in jack on?

    TV: OLED55C6V

    Software: 03.15.10

    webOS TV version: 3.1.2-114 (dreadlocks-denali)

Forget the AV cable. The sound is already transferred via HDMI - you need to change your audio output on your computer to HDMI. Right click on your volume icon the left click the Play Back devices and there you see the option to change to HDMI audio instead of speakers.

  3. Can anyone tell me why i cant update flash player??

I bought this TV mainly for movie/football streaming and i cant even update Flash to watch

Can you give me a link where it says Flash was available or ever likely to be available on this TV?

These streams you are trying to illegally watch - have you approached the people who stream these to ask if they can stream in a format that you can watch on your TV - specifically bought to watch illegal streams?

Good luck with all of that.

  4. Hi

Can anyone who has their Magic Remote 2014 version set up to control their Sky HD box tell me how to get back to live Sky TV from any of the menus as the back up button doesn't appear to work or is their an obvious replacement for the "Sky" button. I have tried all of the Samsung remote options and none of them work - only the BSkyB one works.

    Thanks.

Bad patter to quote your own posts - but Magic Remote and Sky HD now totally functional on firmware 5.10.02

  5. I have set up a NAS over my wifi homenetwork but my TV, LB650V, does not see it. Other devices ie laptop, phone, tablet etc can all access the NAS. Does WebOS not support Samba shares?

    No - sadly it doesn't.

You need to go down the road of using third party software like Plex or the LG badged Smartshare to view your content on your TV. And viewing is all you will be doing - no deleting or moving files about.

To be fair it is all mentioned in the user guide but like you I expected to plug in drive and view on TV.

  6. Hello Friends,

I had bought LG 55'' 3D TV exactly a year back which had older version of OS (not WebOS). Though I go to settings and check for the latest updates, it says you have the latest version.

My problem is to upgrade my TV with latest WebOS, can any suggest / recommend me on the steps, so that I can install them.

Appreciate your help in this regard.

Your only option is to upgrade your TV by replacing it with a more recent model.

  7. Hey guys,

I recently bought LG 42LB650V and webOS store has the basic apps such as Youtube, Skype, Spotify etc., but it's missing Facebook and Twitter.

How is this possible and how can I fix this problem?

You can't. They have been removed from the App Store because Facebook and Twitter have removed LG's permission to use them.

You aren't missing anything - both were pretty horrible to use on a TV

  8. upgrade through USB is this safe way ??? also I Asked Customer Support and Only the Answer is Just Wait and Check Every Day through My TV :D :D :D

this is my model on site is available same of Software Version

    http://www.lg.com/africa_en/support-product/lg-47LB6520-TB

Then why on earth do they give instructions on how to do it via USB?

I have used USB method on last 3 updates with no issues whatsoever.

It is entirely up to yourself if you choose that option.

  9. Dear sir/ madam, I am using LG SMART TV model number is 42LB6520. I am unable to watch the videos through web browser. I informed LG Qatar, they registered complaint and send the technician. After the LG technician check the TV he told me, the reason is currently installed the adobe flash player version is not support with web browser. After that no one call me and not came for check the TV. So I have to use TV, without using web browser? please give me some suggestion. Thank you.

They never ever claimed at any time that you could watch Flash videos through the web browser on your TV. Exactly the same situation as an Apple iPad or iPhone - the outdated Flash platform is not supported. The web browser functions adequately well in most other aspects.

  10. Yes, I did this today. I did a factory reset and reconfigured the TV for Internet access.

In fact, I plugged off the Sky box and connected an USB external hard drive with a couple of movies. After a few minutes playing movie from the USB drive, popups once again reappear.

It's good to note that at this point, there is nothing else connected to the TV except for the USB external hard drive. There is no signal from any HDMI or AVI input. But, popups still appear as if something has been plugged into the AV input.

Anyway, I really appreciate the time. Thanks everyone. But I guess I'll be stuck with these popups for a while.

Then I would raise this issue with LG customer support as it sounds like you have a faulty TV as opposed to operating system.

  11. Wikipedia says:

A boycott is an act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with a person, organization, or country as an expression of protest, usually for social or political reasons. Sometimes, it can be a form of consumer activism.

    @Jimbo1876 now clear?

Really? The things you learn on here. Though I have never relied on Wikipedia as a source of reference before.

So this LG TV you have bought - are you going to return it as part of this "boycott"? Or are you simply going to refuse to buy another LG TV when this one burns out - which might be never?

Good luck with your consumer activism against LG. Let us know how you get on with protesting against the company you were "persuaded" to buy a TV from.

  12. protest against so called smart tv

    protest against apps

protest against LG's decision against general practice of upgrading past 1/2 years model to latest ver OS. as happens in mobile. phones, tab & other electronic devices

    any more points required?

You didn't say protest - you said boycott. What exactly are you going to boycott?

  13. There is no such option in the Sky box configuration. Not that I can find. There is an option in the TV settings to control the Sky decoder from the LG universal remote, but that's also disabled.

Also, regarding Keith Flavell's post, Simplink is already turned off. Turning it on or off makes no difference.

You must have an older Sky box then.

Have you tried another HDMI source to eliminate the the Sky box from the equation?

Or a factory reset of the TV?

  14. I've had an LG 47LB6500 for about five months now. I love the TV and it's great. Except one thing that I find irritating is a constant AV input popup that keeps reappearing over, and over, and over.

While watching any content from any input, the popup appears. This image is one example of it, inside the Netflix app.

The only device plugged to the TV is an HDMI Sky HDTV Set Top Box, and there is nothing plugged into any AV input. WebOS seems to enter some variable loop, displaying several of these popups in sequence. Often, the number of popups is such, that the TV will freeze trying to show all of them. I can only assume a lot of its CPU is being used to render them. The TV will become unresponsive until all popups disappear. The annoyance may last a couple of minutes, but it happens everytime the TV is turned back on.

From the input configuration screen, I can see the AV input is active. And I can try and remove it from the list of inputs.

Once it's removed, the popups are gone. But once the TV is turned off and back on, WebOS will scan for devices and these empty AV inputs are back on the list... and the parade of popups will follow.

As a user, I have to consder this a bug. And it's a very irritating one. These popups cover subtitles and seem to show up minutes after the TV is turned on. Please provide a fix with a firmware update or, at least, provide a workaround to make it stop.

    Kind regards!

    Julio

Go into your Sky box settings then picture and switch HDMI control off and see if that helps.

  15. Hi there,

Recently I am having problems playing movies ( 3D and normal bluray) from a 32GB usb drive...

The movie plays but randomly stops at certain points eg 20min in ect

Some movies with play 100% and other will stop..

I switched of the Tru Motion on the TV cuz it looks funny when I'm watching TV, can this be the issue???

Can it be because of the firmware update??

    Any solutions???

    Thanks!!!

It sounds much more likely to be errors in the file you are playing or the USB drive not being fast enough to transfer the data to the tv. Is it an HD file ie 1080p mkv or similar?
