  2. I noticed since the last update of WebOS, it defaults to a screen with apps along the bottom rather than HDMI1 as before on startup. Even after going into the input settings and selecting HDMI1, it stills defaults to the other screen on startup. When selecting HDMI1 on the inputs screen, it has a red dot in the corner, which I would assumes means that's the selected default. But again, this seems to be ignored this on startup. Thanks.

  4. Thanks for the reply, really appreciated. I eventually got through to the LG online Helpline and after a bit of back and forth, whoever was on the other end eventually told me the TV had been added to my account. Nothing is showing in my account at the minute, only my older LG TV. I'm pleased with the picture quality but still struggling a bit with the 'Magic Remote'.

  6. Hi, Did you try turning of all connection and devices and on again, stay close to the tv. If he still can not find a device, google the problem between tv and telefoon, the problem will be explained. Or get a portable Google Chrome, ideal for not working phones or tv's. Good luck. 🤞

  7. Fab, You are welcome. Thank you for providing more info. I know nothing of the Harmony Hub. If it works for you, then good. I might remind you that ALL these devices are now computers. It is kind of amazing that they "play nice" with each other as it is. And, firmware seems to "upgrade" without warning. Interfaces can change over night. Regarding the Onkyo - refer to page 115 of your owner's manual at the upper left: 5. Hardware 1. HDMI Change the settings of the HDMI function. HDMI CEC (Default Value: On) Setting this to "On" enables the input selection link and other link functions with HDMI-connected CEC-compatible device. When this setting is changed, turn off and then on again the power of all connected devices. • Depending on the TV to use, a link setting may be required on the TV. • This function is effective only when the device is connected to the HDMI OUT MAIN jack. • Setting this to "On" and closing the operation screen will display the name of the connected CEC-compatible device and "CEC On" on the main unit’s display. • When this function is set to "On", the power consumption in standby state increases, however, the increase in power consumption is minimized by automatically entering the HYBRID STANDBY mode where only the essential circuits operate. • If you operate the MASTER VOLUME dial on the main unit when this setting is "On" and audio is output from the TV speakers, audio will be output also from the speakers connected to this unit. To output audio from only either of them, change the setting of this unit or TV, or reduce the volume of this unit. • If abnormal behavior is observed when this is set to "On", set it to "Off". • If a connected device is not CEC-compatible, or if you are not sure whether it is compatible, set it to "Off". On When this function is used Off When this function is not used. Check to see if your setting is in default/ON. If it is, turn it off and see if that helps. Regarding the LG C2, I noticed the same issue, having set-up all the apps on the LG without need of AppleTV, a Firestick, etc. The default seemed to go to the screen you describe "home dashboard". However, since my client had a couple of devices she used from time to time, she doesn't mind hitting the "home" button of the LG Magic Remote to see her apps at the bottom. It is slightly disorienting at first, but I think your wife can adjust pretty readily. On my system, with a C1, like I said, I run all devices through the Denon receiver. Thus, when I turn on the LG, it immediately shows whatever device that is selected on my Denon, which is usually AppleTV. So, I see the beautiful Apple 4K scenic screen savors for my opening screen. The bottom line is: do not expect perfection from any device. Design your system (with all app preferences and hardware) set to your utmost liking as possible. Then, orient yourself (and your wife) to that paradigm and be happy with what an awesome AV system you own. Enjoy the heck out of it. And, be prepared for changes and shifts within the firmware and app updates. Some may be great, some, not so great. Life is complicated and so are AV systems. The better the system, the more complex, the more attention is needed by the consumer. Expecting to set it up and forget it won't cut it anymore. I doubt you want to go back to the era in which I grew-up: a TV with an on-off button, a dial that found 3 channels, if the antenna on the roof was positioned correctly. It was simple and required no further action once the antenna was set. But, I don't want to return to that era. Do you? I hope you truly take the time to really enjoy your "fabulous" home entertainment system You did good! Mr. Black p.s. both of my subwoofers have been on for over 3-and-a-half years without interruption.

  8. Not being able to examine your set-up directly, I can't answer with any specifics. I did read the manual for your Onkyo model. It is a bit iffy regarding ARC and eARC. My experience is that using ARC can be flaky. When I had ARC equipment, I used the digital/optical output of the TV to the optical input on the receiver. The limitation is 5.1 audio out., but it always worked correctly. I have had zero problems using Denon receivers equipped with eARC and your model of LG TV (I just did an install in Oregon last month featuring a 77" C2). With eARC, I always use an ultra hi-speed, 48Gbps cable. I mostly install full 7.2.4 Atmos systems, but this method should work fine for 7.1 and 5.1 applications, as well. In your case, I can only suggest checking the use of CEC (possibly by default) on either your TV or receiver and making sure that you have a hi-speed cable from eARC to eARC HDMI ports and that the LG is set to eARC. If you double check everything I mention and you still have a problem, you might contact Onkyo to see if there is a compatibility issue with LG TVs (there shouldn't be ... you purchased the best value in TV ...Samsung is behind LG in the food chain). I have a C1 and C2 77" OLEDs and experience zero problems with sound, or vision and I have 5 devices using up all the available HDMI ports on my Denon. Full Atmos in and out. Finally, make sure your firmware is up-to-date on both your receiver and TV. I know this stuff can be VERY frustrating when it doesn't perform as expected. Keep plugging. I hope you find that it is a simple fix. Best of luck! Mr. Black

  12. Hooking up a new Onkyo receiver to LG C2 77” tv using HDMI 2 port. LG tv has no problem bringing receiver out of stand by mode. Volume control works, jus has no sound. The Onkyo app shows no data connection. Turn tv on/off and data connection shows and sound works. seems like a timing issue from the tv turns on to the connection with the receiver. The receiver needs to be out of stand by before powering up the tv.

  14. If you already have image retention or OLED burn-in, there's nothing you can do to remove it. As prevention, you can run the pixel refresher periodically, make sure screen shift is on and keep the logo luminance setting to low. But if you already have image retention then you should contact LG Customer Service and seek a solution for a replacement TV through them. Their email is [email protected]. Years ago, I had a LG OLED 55E6P TV and the CNN logo started to burn in. They were great about it and offered me a pro-rated discount towards a replacement TV. Give it a try.

  15. There is a thread about the issue. Please use it instead. TL;DR unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable back to the TV fixes the problem until the TV is turned off. Next time the TV is on I have to repeat this. I have the following setup: TV: LG SK8500PL SW Version: 05.50.10 webOS TV Version: 4.4.2-10 (goldilocks-gorongosa) Soundbar: Samsung Q950A connected via HDMI ARC port. It used to work OK but one day it stopped reproducing sound from the soundbar. When I try to adjust the volume I just have a grey DISABLED icon. So far, I have tried to play with all kind of options from the menu of the TV and I have power cycled it, factory reset the TV as well. I have tested the soundbar and the cable with my other LG TV and it works perfectly. I am assuming it is a hardware problem with the port, but I just wanted to ask here for any advice? Today unplugged and replugged the cable (again). The issue was gone. Could be some SW update on the Soundbar as I had a BT sync issues which are now gone.

  16. You should also add that all OLED TV's have an embedded "screen saver" that cannot be turned off. It is there to prevent image retention or "burn-in" but that prevention method interferes with a lot of apps, especially Plex. Whenever I use Plex to play music from my central media server either via Fire TV or directly in the LG WebOS software, it will time-out after about 20-30 minutes, When that happens, it disconnects Plex from it's source (my central NAS) and creates an error that can only be corrected by rebooting the device. It does not happen on regular LED TV's which makes sense since they are not susceptible to image retention or burn-in. Usually the remedy is to make sure the image on the screen changes or refreshes after a period of time and with Plex music, that happens about every 3-5 minutes when the song finishes playing and the next one loads. So I really don't understand why LG keeps this onerous screen saver in place. Please remove it or allow the use or the Plex app to disable it.

  17. No answer here. My Google search ked to many other not productive answers & now I'm here. I just to vent with you. I want Paramount + on my TV!!! Apparently I need webOS 4.0 or higher. My TV has 3.9 and when I try to "update software," it tells me "no update available." Watching TV on my phone is not cool 🤨

  18. Same here, had to track down a remote, Flippen annoying. Yes with my android box remote I can hit the source button and go to current HDMI port, but it was nice to just have the last used HDMI port be the default when I turn on the TV, now I gotta explain to the wifey, the new step to watching TV.... Kind of hurts the WAF

  20. They told me the same... But the problem seems to be software only. I assumed that the latest software version has some problems. Unfortunately, there is no downgrade procedure, so you can't do much more. Even overwriting the new version is impossible! Can you please keep me updated on the cost estimate from ESD Rom? We can also discuss in private, if you agree.

  22. Hi @JeanF The short answer is no, the long one is yes but only if you or someone else creates it for the platform. It is not as simple as actually taking an existing browser, say like Chrome, and installing it on the platform. (mansplaining over...)

  23. My suggestion was not using the server to do the playing. The TV was the player, it just used the server as the place to find the files.

  25. The Gallery application is nice but it does not compare with the Samsung Frame offering and that's too bad because LG could through software be quite competitive. One place to start would be to look at the Art Legacy+ and associated applications available from a small company called Landka. I've displayed from an iPad their 100+ classic images. Each image is panned slightly during display so there is no danger of burn in. Images can persist for up to 60 seconds (would rather see up to 10 minutes). The cost is minimal. LG could look into licensing this app or doing something similar. The app itself could also use a couple of improvements: 1) an optional virtual frame such as is offered by Samsung Frame and 2) changing the background color of the TV where the image does not display (for example a vertically-oriented piece of art) to be much more like a matte around a photo. I'm running Legacy+ on my LGTV daily. It really improves the room and adds a lot of value to the TV.

  26. You may not need anything extra. When I press the Input button on the remote for my LG 50UK6090PUA - in addition to the expected HDMI1, HDMI2, etc. there is also my server listed. I pick that and navigate to the video I want. There are plenty of reasons that my case may be different from yours. I am using a WD MyCloud that is running its stock DLNA server and my files are mkv files instead of mp4. Still, it is worth a try and costs nothing in dollars or time.

  27. I hope LG Electronics' WebOS-based smart TV supports Synology's DS Video like Samsung's other brands' TVs. Home media servers are the trend, but it's a shame that only LG can't support them. If it is not supported in the long term, I should abandon WebOS and transfer to Samsung or Android TV.

  32. I have bought my last lg tv due to the lack of updating
    1 point
  33. The biggest problem with LG (imho) is the Software update policy. You are stuck with the OS version that the TV was launched. Never mind if the hardware is more than capable to handle a new version. LG wont update it.
    1 point
  34. I think the answer is that LG hates you (and the rest of us) and wants your TV to be redundant so you buy a new one. My preferred option is to buy something like a google chromecast or similar and use them for everything 'smart'. These things work much better for any and all apps than the crappy apps on the 'smart' TV. LG quickly makes their older TVS unusable with bloated software or just no updates - but you can sidestep that with an HDMI device such as chromecast and never use their rubbish software again.

  37. I had this issue for a while... it started off with the mouse pointer not working... then youtube video stutter and the popup coming up on and off more and more frequent. I had the TV wired through a 1 Meter cat5e cable to Dlink Gigabit Switch which is then connected through a 10Meter cat5e cable to the Router. I changed the switch to a TPLink unmanaged Pro switch and toggled the port to 100MF and it was alleviating the issue for a while before it get bad again. Then I swap out the 1Meter cable from a CAT5e to CAT6 and surprisingly, the problem goes away. It looks like the cable might have gotten bad over time.

  41. Hey Guys, So I noticed the same problem and found an ideal workaround. I used the browser feature built in the webos tv and navigated to espn and logged in. I was then able to watch my espn + content. Yes the website takes some time to load but the video content once your playing it and go to full screen showed 0% lag. Keep in mind I'm using an ethernet connection on the tv and have a 100 mbps connection. The quality was very good as well, 4k. I added a picture.

  42. Its a shame WebOS doesn't support steam link still. I don't think I can wait any more longer for LG to add it to the store. I've decided to sell my LG TV and get an andriod TV just so i can use the steam link app.

  44. Same request. Is there some way we users could get a checkbox during the Bluetooth pairing process that says "Connect automatically"? That way, the default could still be "Ask to connect", but users could have the option to avoid picking up the remote to connect a newly powered on Bluetooth device. I do like that the speakers come on when the Bluetooth device is powered off, but maybe someone would like to set Bluetooth as the default output?

  45. Actually, I believe this is on LG's part and not Steam/Valve. As far as I know, the only official from Valve appp support is for Android. I believe the version for Samsung TVs was technology licensed from Valve but the app was actually written by Samsung themselves. With this said, I suspect the only was it'll end up on WebOS is if LG licenses it from Valve and writes a WebOS version themselves.

  49. I had the same problem. It turned out that the tv was auto detecting a different router in the house that required a password instead of the one it was directly connected to that did not require a password. I just unplugged the other router. The tv then auto detected the correct one and the user agreement downloaded.

The properties date and time come corretly from the server, but when I show on the screen the diference is 2 hours, exactly the timezone from 'America_SaoPaulo'
